Hi guys...
It happens pretty often that when I want to take a picture I accidentally start recording a video instead because last time I used the camera I recorded video.
Isn't there a way to have two camera icons instead? One for stills and one for videos?
Brgds... /Tubgirl
If you accidentally have it on recording you can also take pictures at the same time. Small camera icon on the bottom right

Hi,
Anyone use this app as main camera?
I am trying it but sometimes i get force closes and to take a photo it takes to long.
What do you think about this app?
Erm and why would u like to use it cam?? :S
I really like it. No FC at all, on both photo and video side (tested on CM7 and MIUI). Ok, it's not the best graphically, but it has a lot of options.
The only problem i do have is that vertical photos show up rotated left
I'm using it with no problems on 2.3.5 xxki3, great app, as you can turn off the stupid autofocus while video recording!
It's the only unofficial camera app I've found that supports 1080p video recording smoothly. AND it lets you set the audio bitrate in-app!
hey guys i was just wondering if there was a camera app that would be better than the one on the cm9 rom i am running.
the camera is fine for taking pictures but with the video camera it doesn't have a option for changing video size so i can send video files over mms.
and i als can't take a photo without it making a sound. don't always want everybody to know i am taking a picture..lol
Hmm, AOKP's cam let's you take different quality of vids, hence different sizes. There is also an option to turn off shutter sound in system settings.

Camera zoom fx.
However there are ways to disable camera sounds by editing the files it uses.

Hi All,
I have Camera Zoom FX on my HOX, but can't seem to find a way of taking pictures while recording HD video, like you can on the standard camera app.
Does anyone know of a way?
Cheers

Probably not possible, it would need to be built into the app to work
They probably wouldn't, as I assume it takes quite a bit of power to be recording video and still have spare resource to take a picture, I know hox does do this, but a lot of other phones simply couldn't, and it would make their app look bad if they put in a feature that didn't work on 90% of the phones out there

Hi,
here is a beautiful fast & unique camera app from Moto x,
Action:
•Press the screen to captures picture
•Holding the screen activates the burst mode for capturing multiple pictures.
•Dragging up and down zooms in and out.
•Swiping fingers from left to right brings camera settings, and from right to left takes to the Gallery.
•Another convenient gesture is twisting your wrist twice (quickly) while holding the camera in hand launches camera anytime. It’s a great feature for a smartphone with no dedicated camera button.
Features:
•Single shots
•Burst shots
•Video recording
•Front-facing camera toggle
•Swipe to open settings
•Swipe to open gallery
•Touch to focus toggle
•Flash mode toggle
•Shutter sound toggle
•Geo-tag toggle
The camera app can be installed as a normal APK file. Installing this camera app does not replace the stock camera of your device and having installed it, you’ll see two different shortcuts in your app drawer.

Good one, but what does the SLO mode do? It seems locked for me. I can't use it. Anyone has an Idea.?
Few others I've used
Have been using many camera apps currently. All have some or the other feature which I like. I use according to my purpose.
1. Camera Zoom FX: Using it for its Voice Activated feature and its Collage feature. Voice activated mode will click only when you make a noise or say click or cheeze etc. You can use it when you click your own pics or wanna have a group pic.
Use collage mode and click multiple pics and you'll get all of them in single pic. That's way quicker then click normal pics and then use collage.
It also has a stable indicator that indicates when the object or the phone is stable to click the pic.
2. Pro Capture: For providing many various Focus and Scene modes in one touch, especially the Macro mode and the Fibonacci Spiral is also one of the best feature it gives. The golden Spiral does make sense in pictures, I personally believe.
3. Fast Burst Camera: Name says it all. Soon I'm gonna check the Moto X for its continuous shots and if the result is better I might replace. But this app is quick good. It clicks like a machine gun. Some times even if I try to click it ones it quickly response to the second touch and takes another shot . Sorry that might be a negative point as well
4. Camera 2: This app is real fun if you like to take pictures and video like that of Old time (1940s, 1960s, etc), It has Sci-Fi mode similar to Green coloured Matrix like of stuff with number falling down in a line. Comic mode, Artistic mode. Best part of the app is that you cannot just click pictures but also take videos in those modes.
Well I used many others too but removed them for less or more their limited features.
I hope this might help you in any way. :good:

it is a slow motion video recording function. i never find a similar camera app with this function!
can anybody help me getting the slo mode (slow motion) camera app working on sgs3 PLEASE??!
When I take pictures while recording, I noticed that the video kinda stutters at the moment when I press the photo button. Not when I am recording, but when I playback the video that I just shot. This also happened with my wife's original pixel. Has anyone experienced this?
Just tried it and it was completely smooth for me
Here are 2 videos I made with my Pixel 2 XL... I recorded them at 1080, 60fps.
There are little hiccups along the video, that's when im pressing the photo button during the recording. It feels like the camera freezes momentarily to take the picture while im shooting. I tested with 2 other original pixels and both also have tiny hiccups in the video when I press the photo button during recording.
When I shoot the video without taking any photos, the video comes outs perfect and very smooth. Could this be a hardware problem?

Have you tried clearing the data/cache of the camera app, rebooting and trying again?
I did, I even booted into safe mode and cleared the cache and restarted the phone. Tried turning off video stabilization just to test, but nothing changed..... Could it have something to do with OIS?

You sure you recorded it at 1080p 60 FPS because it's only 480p60 on YouTube. But yes I see the stuttering. Have you tried while in landscape? I only record landscape with the camera app and I've never had anything like that when I take photos while recording.

Yeah, on my phone I recorded at 1080... I think when I uploded to youtube, I may have uploaded incorrectly at a lower resolution. I'm gonna try to do it using landscape during the day.
Weird thing is, I tested on the original Pixel, I got similar results.

I just tested it myself and I do see just a slight stutter when recording in portrait. Also most as if the video stabilization had to do something. In landscape, perfectly smooth.

Here is my video in landscape mode.. same problem i had in potrait mode...
I tested using the front camera, and it doesn't have this problem.

Dunno what is happening with my phone... Could it be some settings I need to change?

Yeah I was.... I was almost taking a pic per second. Maybe 2 pics per second at some parts of the clip. I think I took 10-15 pics during the clip.

Yeah if I do it rapidly I can get it to stutter. So...don't do it rapidly. LOL. I never do it that why so that's why I never noticed it on video playback. Usually I only snap a couple pics while recording.

Tried recording and taking photo slowly. I can still notice the stutter at the moment I hit the photo button, but not as often as before.
Maybe I am being too picky about it? There is actually an option to stabilize the video if I go into edit mode, but I would have to manually edit each single video that I record. I just wonder if this is a software or hardware thing, since it happened on your recording and also happened on my wife's first gen Pixel.
Use the feedback option in Settings to report it. Googles attention to detail over the camera app should see this fixed soon hopefully
