[Q] Trying to flash ftf file (not working) - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I bit the bullet and went to upgrade my official 2.3.3 rom to Aurora 0.9. My bootloader is unlocked via Ominus testpoint method (i think)!
I put the 4.0.2.A.0.58 Enhanced ftf file inot flashboot and get the following error:

this might be your problem you might not have connected the phone in usb debugging mode and also make sure you press and hold the back button before connecting the usb

Thanks for your reply buddy. usb debugging mode was on in settings and I had a blue? light when trying to flash, I presume this is fastboot mode?
Anyway what makes things more confusing to me is that I had sony companion running and it said there was an update, so i let it do its thing and now I am upgraded to 2.3.4 (4.0.2.A.0.42)
I thought this could not happen with an unlocked bootloader, only thing I can think of is that my loader is not unlocked? It was a while ago but I unlocked it via Ominus buy using their software and putting a paperclip in the back of the phone...
When I go into the service menu is says bootloader unlock allowed "yes"

If you are using Linux, are you running Flashtool with root permissions?
If not, dunno.

to know if your bootloader is unlocked go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1891533
to know if you are properly rooted superuser or superSu icon must be present in your rom and it will say in flashtool that you have root access as well

Many thanks fritzbored, I followed the guides and used S1 tool to get the infomation. I have the output below so I think my bootloader is locked?
RUNNING S1_EROM VER "R9A029"

LOADER AID: 0001

FILESYSTEM VERSION: WORLD-1-8_4.0.2.A.0.42

NOT RECOGNIZED SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE
Strange though I did unlock it using Ominus and service menu says bootloader unlock "allowed" Maybe its because I updated the phone through
PC companion?

Interesting, here's the same log from my bootloader unlocked (s1tool test-point method) play:
Code:
[B]RUNNING S1_EROM VER "r9A021"[/B]
SOFTWARE AID: 0001
LOADER AID: 0001
FLASH ID: "002C/00B3"
LOADER VERSION: "R4A069"
MODEL (from GDFS): R800i
SOFTWARE VERSION: 1245-8821_4.0.2.A.0.62
CUSTOM VERSION: 1253-4437_R8D
FILESYSTEM VERSION: WORLD-1-8_4.0.2.A.0.62
SERIAL NO: CB5A1K2W8P
Note that my version of the string quoted contains a lower case 'r', which is unique to unlocked bootloaders. As you may know, that means that your bootloader is indeed locked. I know not about if PC Companion re-locks bootloaders, however, I'd recommend giving the bootloader unlock another go.

Which phone do you have exactly R800i or x? And were do you have downloaded the firmware?
Sent from the best gaming phone on the world.
Why did you use brick fix? you only use that if you mess a kernel flash up, or update ota with an unlocked bootloader, Try flashing http://www.mediafire.com/?lojlw6bffm7alv1
oh and when you try to turn it on do you feel a vibrate or hear a buzz? if so you just have a software brick.
So just flash http://www.mediafire.com/?lojlw6bffm7alv1 follow the instructions, if you don't understand them very well use this tut: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20151540
All the best, let me know if you fix it.

[Q] Unlock bootloader with flashtool?

I have been trying to unlock my bootloader with s1tool with no luck... it always seems like everything has gone right... but I still can't get into fastboot...
SO... I recently updated my flashtool to 0.8.4.0 and noticed there was an "unlock bootloader" plugin... So I clicked on it and received the following outoput:
05/036/2012 21:36:33 - INFO - Please connect your device into flashmode.
05/037/2012 21:37:01 - INFO - Device connected in flash mode

05/037/2012 21:37:01 - INFO - Reading device information
05/037/2012 21:37:01 - INFO - Phone ready for flashmode operations.
05/037/2012 21:37:01 - INFO - Flashing loader
05/037/2012 21:37:04 - INFO - Loader : S1_Loader_Root_773f - Version : R4A066 / Bootloader status : ROOTED
05/037/2012 21:37:04 - INFO - Start Reading property
05/037/2012 21:37:04 - INFO - Ending flash session
05/037/2012 21:37:04 - INFO - Your phone is already unlocked. Canceling task
SO... from this I would take it that flashtool is detecting that my bootloader is already unlocked... this is probably because of the testpoint unlock I did with s1tool... great... i guess... but it's totally worthless because my phone won't go into fastboot... I have tried selecting to restart into fastboot with the regular restart options on my phone... I have tried using XCharge to restart into fastboot... I have tried using flashtool's restart into fastboot using ADB... and of course... I tried just holding the search button and plugging my usb cable in with my phone turned off... NOTHING WORKS...
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience unlocking the bootloader with the new flashtool... I was considering using s1tool to relock the bootloader... or whatever you wanna call it... since it doesn't seem to be unlocked anyways... but hopefully that will get flashtool to detect it as locked... and maybe flashtool will be able to unlock it??? or is that not possible???
Update...
OK... so I went ahead and relocked my bootloader using s1tool... went back into flashtool 0.8.5.0 (updated to the latest version since my last post)...
went to Bootloader unlock>Run.... plugged my phone into flashmode and go the following output:
05/021/2012 23:21:12 - INFO - Please connect your device into flashmode.
05/021/2012 23:21:13 - INFO - Device disconnected

05/021/2012 23:21:17 - INFO - Reading device information
05/021/2012 23:21:17 - INFO - Phone ready for flashmode operations.
05/021/2012 23:21:17 - INFO - Flashing loader
05/021/2012 23:21:20 - INFO - Loader : S1_Loader_Root_773f - Version : R4A066 / Bootloader status : NOT_ROOTABLE
05/021/2012 23:21:20 - INFO - Ending flash session
05/021/2012 23:21:20 - INFO - Now unplug your device and restart it into fastbootmode
05/021/2012 23:21:21 - INFO - Device connected in flash mode
A dialog popped up telling me how to get into fastboot mode... but my device refused to do it... as usual...
So it went from saying that my bootloader was ROOTED to NOT ROOTABLE...
Something I haven't tried doing... is typing *#*#7378423#*#* on my phone after doing a testpoint bootloader unlock with s1tool and see what it says under Rooting Status...
I guess I will try that... but I don't think it will help me get into fastboot mode...
I already unlock my bootloader with Flashtool and it's say Bootloader status: ROOTED but I can't get into fastboot move.

R800X wont go into flashmode or fastboot?

Have the drivers installed. Just wont go into either mode. Trying to flash my phone to the 2.3.3 software.
Were you holding the right button when plugging it in? For fastboot use the search button and for flash mode use the back button. ( for flashmode a green light should come on and fastboot should be blue)

Is your bootloader unlocked? If not then you can enter fastboot. You can only enter flashmode.

To OP: redownload the file, seems like the FTF is corrupted.
Sent from LT18i with custom firmware by myself.
Download the whole firmware, connect your device on flashmode, by keeping on pressed the back button and connect it, then flash the .ftf file.

What was happened is: I left the phone (Arc S LT18i) and friend of mine tried to flash with ftf files (because yesterday we stuck with SONY LOG) BUT somehow he flashed "mk16i_4.1.B.0.431_ready to root" and now device is shown is EXPERIA PRO (mk16i) .....
we can't flash any other ftf files e.g. "LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2184))" or "lt18i_4.1.B.0.431_ready to root" - phone gets into flashmode but if we try to flash it shows ERROR and stops flushing:

Is it a problem with flashtool itself?...
Got lost really...
I think that you've installed adb drivers only for arc/s, now that you've flashed Xperia pro firmware, so you need to install drivers for that and try again and report back.

This is my problem. I have usb debugging on and my phone has never been in mtp mode so i am very much confused. Any help please?
So how do you connect your device? You have to be in flashmode. Turn off your phone, press and hold back button and then connect USB cable. Led should turn green. Then you can stop holding back button.
And also I see 'device connected' before 'please connect device' in log. Do not plug your phone before prompted by a pop up window.

I usually connect in msc mode as a mass storage device. I've just noticed that myself about inserting it in beforehand.
