Facebook Messenger not showing SMS integration option... - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

So I was trying to get my FB Messenger app to allow sms integration. Apparently the setting is supposed to be available in the new update for the app. Even in previous versions as well. I dont seem to have that option anywhere in the app. Now this may be due to my rom version (paranoid andr.) or is it carrier/hardware related? I also tried this on CleanRom 4.5 and it still didnt work. Ive also noticed posts in the Tmobile Note 2 forums that say similar things. As well as posts on other forums for android central.
Is there something Im missing, or is the app getting broken by some other app on my phone? Maybe the rom, kernel, radio etc.. is causing the problem.
Can all those who have the sms integration setting actually there, please indicate in ur post which rom your using? This will help a lot of us that seem to be having problems. Also please indicate if youve just updated the Messenger app as well. Thanks all.
Im running JB 4.2.2 - Paranoid Android ------- SMS setting not showing at all.
Also tried on JB 4.1.2 - Cleanrom 4.5 ------- SMS setting not showing at all.

I'm stock running Facebook Messenger 2.4.2 release (Build 178229)
If i go to settings once i open the app, there is a SMS/MMS setting there with a check box to turn them on. I had to reboot after that then change my default program.

I'm having the same issue on my T-Mobile Note 2. I have the latest 2.4.3 messengerand have no sms/mms opt ion under settings

Hey Guys. I fixed my issue. If you have the same issue I had (No SMS option in FM) then I think I have a solution for you. Log into facebook from a PC (not sure if the option is there in the mobile version). Go to Account Settings -> Mobile and verify that your mobile phone number is verified. After I verified my phone number...again I restarted my phone and the option was back, I had to re-enable it but it was back.
Hope this helps.

[Q] Facebook push notification

Hi,
I used to have facebook push notification on my Galaxy S.
However, since around 1.5 weeks back - I rarely get this notification.
Facebook notification refresh setting is already set to every 30 minutes (but why is this necessary? Since it should be a "pushed" notification, isn't it?)
I've done plenty of things on the phone in the past 2 weeks (one of them is factory wipe); so I can't put my finger on when is the last time the push notification work.
Anyone got any clue?
Actually i noticed i havent been getting notifications either.
On 2.2.1 JPY.
same for me!! weird!!

I don't think I've ever had the facility to have the notifcations pushed. It probably works out in your best interests as it will probably save you more battery life and data in the long run

I think the opposite actually.
If it's not "pushed", then the apps in your phone will try to connect at certain interval to check if there's latest records.
If my understand is correct, in the past, facebook application for android, works by using the 'refresh interval'. But in Dec, the "pushed notification" is added into this apps

* sorry, I can't create a URL link in my post due to low post count
I used 2.2.1 and had pushed notification. My guess is that this happen only in Jan, and probably after I did the X'mas version Darky's ROM.
Do you guys think this pushed notification works based on your phone "product code" ? Flashing ROM is known to change your Product CODE.. (I think mine was changed to XOR, XEE, XSO before.. )

Yeah the app itself has settings for regular updates but I hadn't noticed a push setting previously. Can only assume FB pulled it for some reason because the ROM's themselves don't really touch any third party .apks.
Guys..
I got "pushed' notification now; but only for messages so far.
This is what I did in facebook notification settings..
Untick all Notifications (e.g. messages, friend requests, event invites) and also untick the notifications. Also set the Refresh interval to - NEVER
get out from that notification setting page.
Get back in again and this time around, ticked all notifications back .. but keep the Refresh interval to NEVER.
Using push notificatiion, so don't need to ask the Facebook apps to "poll" the servers for latest data.
once again, i'm on 2.2.1 using Darky's ROM V8.0 with latest SpeedMod Kernel (dated 13th Jan 2011).
I wasn't getting any notifications pushed either and i read somewhere (can't remember where) that you can fix it by resetting the push notifications thing (i think its called c2dm).
One way of doing this is by going into Settings > Applications > Facebook > Clear Data
Then open up facebook, enter your details and it should work (it worked for me)
sounds like when I did change the notification setting, that have the some effect as clear the data and create a new one.
got the same prob also since last two weeks.. flash every rom from stock to custom.. from 2.1 to 2.2 based.. and finally on darky 8.1.. still push notification for facebook app not popping up anymore.. but it works fine before.. can someone identify what is the source of this problem?..
Same problem here. Any ideas?
I actually do not have this problem BUT.... I can´t hear any pop sound when someone sends me a message on FaceBook....
I have gone into settings and enabled sound and everything there but I never hear any sound when I get a message
Any way to fix that?... would be SUPER sweet

Push notifications work via push service which is dependent upon "Android ID", not product code, I know that because I had problems with Kik Messenger which works with push notifications. People at Kik explained that push service is connected with unique Android ID of your device and if it changes, you will probably have problems with notifications. Android ID changes if you, for example, flash custom ROM. I was lucky enough to create complete nandroid backup when I first bought the phone. Kik didn't work properly on Darky's (or any other custom rom) so what I did was: restored my original ROM, installed Android ID changer from market, wrote down my ID, flashed Darky's again, installed Android ID changer again and restored my original ID.
Now push service works like a charm
Hope it helps...
I suggest facebook sms notifications. It's true push (And you don't need data enabled!)

on facebook desktop website, in the top right corner click "account" > "Account settings" > "mobile" (a tab).
The sms contains the content of the notification (altho can be cut short if too long) and depending on the context, a url to the mobile website.
EDIT: oops, looks like iceland isn't on the dropdown list... (probably no carriers in your country support the function ) Many other countries do though :S
I use F plus (flow) now.
Might not be push, but at least I get them now, which is more than the facebook app did ever did.
Sent from my Captivate.
No matter what settings I use on facebook they always revert to default after not using the app for a while.
Any ideas?
anyone find a solution to this yet? sorry for bumping a old thread but it's driving me nuts not being able to check notifications on facebook!

[Q] One way sync only in all apps? (device to web)

Hi everyone,
I have a strange problem.
The problem is spotted in "Out of milk app"
I have contacted them with the problem I ran into and now I am pretty sure that the problem is in the device, so i am posting here.
I use One X CID_032, Android 4.0.4, Sense 4.1, Software number 2.17.401.2, SDK API level 4.23.
I have also tested the diary.com app, and have the same issue:
Every change I make in the apps on the device is registered on the web version of the apps. However, changes made on the web are not registered in the device.
I have tested the Google Celendar. In this case, syncing is working both ways.
I have tried reinstalling the apps, and restarting the phone. No help.
I may add that syncing with the Outlook also doesn't work, and that I haven't received yet the Jelly bean update, although many CID_032's at my phone operator already have it.
Any suggestion why I cannot see the changes made on the web in my apps? Why is syncing from web to phone not working? Are there some phone settings I am not aware about? I have searched everywhere.
Thank you!

Problem with 3G and Push in JB

Hi,
I have a Koodo Galaxy S2X and for the last week I've been trying the great JB roms presented here. I really like JB and would want to use one of the rom as my DD, but I've been having the same problem with all the JB roms I've tried (4.1.x and 4.2.x).
I use Touchdown to read my Hotmail account and it is configured to use push. The problem is that when on 3G, I can see in Touchdown logs that the push thread times out every 30 sec (server failed to respond) and TD is constantly connecting back. It uses a lot of battery, maybe 10% per 1-2 hours. This problem does not occur when using WIFI. I don't have the problem either with ICS roms, TD barely uses any battery power and I can see in the logs that nothing times out.
Another thing I see with JB roms is that if I don't use the phone for a couple of minutes and then open the Google Play store, it will show me "No Connection" with a "retry" button. I press the button a couple times and it finally loads the store.
What I've tried so far:
- First, I use TWRP V2.4.0.0
- I tested different roms, including SlimStar V2.2, AOKP 4.2 build 3, All Star slimbean and SUPERLITE CM10.
- I played around with the Sync button, tried on and off but changes nothing
- I installed the stock Koodo radio over slimstarV2.2 but it didn't changed anything
- Tried Touchdown for smartphone, Touchdown HD and a beta version but they all have the same behavior in JB.
- Each time I flash a rom, I wipe everything (cache, davlik, Factory reset and System)
I'm kind of desperate, I've searched the forums for nearly a week now in order to solve this problem but I don't find anything. I can't believe I'm the only one with this problem??
If anyone has a clue please tell me! Thank you very much!

Have you tried setting up your hotmail acct as an exchange acct and using the stock email app?

Yes but the main reason I use a third party email app is because I use folders in Hotmail and I want to see unread mails from all folders in a unified list. I searched this option in the stock email app but I can't find that feature. I have to manually select each folder to see the content.
I just tried Enhanced Email and it has the same problem as Touchdown. I see exceptions in the logs saying "Server failed to respond". So I think it's definitely a rom issue since it works flawlessly with ICS (Koodo V4.04 stock and Koodo 4.04 V5 optimized rom from ptmr3) with the same radio. But I would like to know if someone else has the problem to rule out the possibility of a problem with my phone.
Thanks
Edit: Looked again in the logs and I can see that the "Target server failed to respond" exception is happening when the app sends a ping to the activesync server. The other connections seem to be working well though.
More info from the Enhanced Email log file:
In wifi mode:
- The app sends a ping to the activesync server with a timeout value of 470sec
- 470sec later, I see "Ping response: 200" and a ping status of 2
Then the operation continues connectly
In 3G mode:
- The app sends the ping with a timeout value of 470sec
- 30 sec later, I get an IOException: Target server failed to respond
So I don't know why, but it looks like there is a timeout check only 30 sec after the ping is sent in 3G mode. I don't think it's a script or a mod that causes this as I have the problem with the AOKP and CM nightlies builds.
Anyone has a clue?
Thanks
Hi,
Just to say that I tried the latest AOKP 4.2.2 build (jb-mr1 Build 5) tonight and the problem is now fixed!! I don't see any "No Connection" message in Google Play and the push timeouts are gone!
Now hopefully the fix will be integrated to the CM roms too.

IceColdJelly v3.7 MMS issue?

Greets,
I am a long time ARHD user, I would say of beginner to intermediate skill level. I can operate fastboot, adb competently and unpack a rom. I would try to post this question in the ICJ thread but I still don't have enough posts, woe is me
I was using ARHD, enjoyed using it for the most part. Unfortunately, Android 4.1.1 is annoyingly out of date compared to another device of mine, my Nexus 7. I made the jump to ICJ 3.7 on my HOX, I love it so far! Save for a few nagging issues, it's been a great rom.
I am unable to send photos using MMS. It just sits in the window "Sending"... indefinitely. My first and only hunch is that there's no process within the stock Messaging App that auto compresses photos. Am I missing something here? It seems like it's trying to send a 1.4MB+ file without recompressing, ARHD did this for me, but is that a Sense feature?
The other annoying issue I am having which I have seen in the ICJ thread reported by a number of other users, the Hangouts app when attempting to join a video hangout crashes when starting. I am willing to furnish someone with logs if told how.
Cheers!

[Q] Cyanogenmod 12 Stock App Issue

Hello everyone,
Relatively new Android user here. I've been running Cyanogenmod 12 Nightlies on my Sprint HTC One m8, and for some reason, I cannot seem to get the messaging or email apps to work properly.
When I set CM Messenger as my default texting app, I can receive messages just fine, but when I go to send, it's as if the sending button is disabled. From what I can tell, setting Messenger as the default texting app should enable the send button, but that's simply not the case for me. The only info I've been able to find online said that Voice + caused this problem, but I think that was specific to CM 11. I don't recognize any apps on my phone that would be the Android L equivalent of Voice +.
As for Email, whenever I try to connect my gmail account, I get a message saying that verification couldn't be completed because the password is wrong. After this, the app closes automatically, and upon reopening it, the app seems to be hung up on syncing but never actually does anything. I've tried linking my account both automatically and manually — both methods yield the same result.
The odd thing is that 3rd party messaging and email apps work just fine. I've been using them as a workaround, but I'd really like to use the stock apps if possible! And aside from that, I'm totally stumped and would really like to figure out what is causing this issue. Any insight you could provide would be very much appreciated!

Update: I got the email app to work — I had the sync parameter set to never because I like to manually retrieve my mail, but it seems like that completely stops the app from syncing at all. It's still a little buggy, but at least it's working. Still no fix yet for SMS app.....

Hello,
Thanks for your reply! I have been using a third party sms app for the time being, but I'd still really like to figure out what's causing this issue. Call me a glutton for punishment I've searched a lot on XDA for a specific cyanogenmod Q&A, but I'm new here, and I'm finding the search interface a bit confusing. Could you post a link to the specific thread you're referring to?
