Hello
You can clear ram by using task manager but this is not a bug problem

I know it isn't a bug problem becouse in stock rom there was too but i think is a System problem... becouse i use just 100 150 mb ram not 280

If your phone didn't have some bug or lag, that mean it's normal.

So i checked the phone's "components" within quadrant's system info and I saw that my phone has 230 mb free and ~220 mb inactive... So how do I activate those mb?
P.S: I have CM7 1.5
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
it means not currently in use not that it isnt working.
Then why when i use that widget from advanced task killer shows only 240mb free after killing all processes
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
advanced task killer only kills unwanted apps. You cant kill core system apps, the android system and the linux kernel can you? So that is what takes the rest of the ram
Ok thx

I´m just curious here, how much memory do you have free on your phone?
Mine are 148 MB free ROM and 281 MB free RAM.
Does this in anyway correlate to how fast games run?
Bring me some of your numbers! =)
the xperia play has a total of 380 MB ROM , its enough for lots of apps , and if its not , you can always move your apps to SD Card and free some space

That´s interesting. My numbers in the first post is on 4.0.2.A.0.42. I have removed apps that I deem unneccesary and want to make gaming run as speedy as possible.
I wonder if the new update will use more or less RAM than before, or if it even will be a difference?

If you´re rooted you can bring about drastic changes in the memory-area, turn off stuff running in the background eating RAM-memory etc.
I have used titanium backup and deleted a lot of system apps that I don´t use. I use my phone for: Telephoning, Messaging, Surfing, Gaming (emulator), and Google Maps. Nothing more.

All I can tell you do is root and remove system apps. That frees up a lot of space. Also put everything on the sd card.

You must have a misunderstood concept of free RAM. Actually, the less free RAM you have, the faster your apps get. This free RAM is consumed by cached processes invisible to anything else that is not a system app. You can go to the Free RAM screen, press Menu and select Show Cached Processes to see your true free RAM. The more cached RAM there is, the faster it gets. I remember someone here at these forums actually posted the difference between "free" and free RAM, can't remember though. The Xperia Play can run BOTH of them at the same time, just like an iPhone 4S, especially if you are supercharged.

320 could be 360 if I flash the 40mb increase. No apps on SD

Also using Link2sd with a 2ext 1gb partition(575mb used/443mb free). Internal memory's at 201mb free. RAM is ~200(240 on boot, settles around 202).
-Stock R800x 2.3.3 rooted w/o vzw's bloatware. Ive got zeppelinrox's v6 Supercharger update9 r7 running with option 6 and bulletproof important apps. SetCPU stock speeds, just some profiles. Dalvik linked to sd as well.
I've gotta say it took some tweaking, but this phone is SNAPPY. All thanx to the devs here at xda. Lots of love fellas!
Does anyone know which one will consume the least amount of bandwidth? I am not exactly on the fastest network and would like to get the download done as soon as possible. I am looking for ROM's under 50 MB.
Thanks.
I don't think there is any under 50 mb the smallest one would be around 97~100 mb

The smallest rom is hybrid don't know abt the version bt it was around 80 mb
I think I can help u...
Go to playstore... download androget pro( its a paid app)
And download watever u want...
It is really good and faster...
Currently I am downloading ussr v5 which is 116 mb on crappy 2g speed....

Hybrid is old ROM already. Try the Evo X2 ROM... It's been cut down to 80mb.. It was based on DXLE.
Nothing under 50 MB. 80 MB, I can still live with.
If u remove all app ....... only leave system running app may b it possoble ....

No bro,we cant.I've gone to the extreme on creating evo-x2 to liberate a 100mb from system. It has only 10 apps in app drawer but the rom zip is still 80mb.

WOW! 116 MB on 2G speed? What planet are you at? On Earth In 2G systems, GPRS provides data rates of 56–114 kbit/second MAX.
And why in the world that it seems like every single post here have their own definition of the word "footprint"?
As far as I know . . .
Footprint = memory usage (well, that's the term we used to call in when we do programming)
File package = perhaps refers to the size of the zipped ROM package
Free internal memory space = the amount of unused internal memory space in MB.
Bandwidth = downlink speed in KBPS/MBPS
If you (OP) like smaller footprint, disable system services and leave services for radio/network so you can receive sms and calls.
Ok, i get it. I know how android control ram, free ram is wasted ram and if app needs ram then system will end some apps but seriously?

19 MB free? Is it normal? Apex launcher reload too often. There isn't any super consuming app on neither list nor in "cached app".
I just checked on SystemPanel Lite and there is "Interface 110MB"
I am using Paranoid Android 3+ with AK Purity kernel.
After reboot and I got 150-200 MB (Interface - 38 MB). Just wondering for how long.
How much free ram have you got just right now? How often your launcher reload?
Thanks
43 available ram at the moment. Launcher doesn't redraw often. Running aokp mr1 build 4.
271mb free. Launcher never redraws, system overall very snappy. Only leave Messaging, Phone and Chrome in recent apps.
My phones currently at just over a week uptime with 265mb free, and I never clear recent apps. Also no launcher redraws using nova prime.

What apps do you have installed? And I'm betting that pie or lmt or whatever it is is going to end up being responsible for a lot it memory usage too.
Also, your rom could just be heavy on theory usage. The more tweaks/customizations/options, the memory used.
Edit: also, how many widgets do you have?

While we're all throwing out our stats: 10 days, 9 hours uptime; 100MB free. I have no launcher redraws.

Are you using tibu to restore apps. I had the same problem until I did a clean install and let market auto restore. Then reboot phone and you should be good to go.
Thanks for posts guys.
It had to be memory leak or something. After restart it is quite better but still. I track memory usage from that moment and I think I have just too many apps. Many of them start their services and not end it. Right now I have cleared recent apps and 170mb free.
According to Play Store I have 107 apps installed
Hello frnds,
Is there any way to increase the available RAM on our phone, means we have got around 700mb available whereas its actual announced capacity is 1Gb,
In a latest Xperia, Xperia C, being the same 1GB, its showing around 900Mb..!
Don't ask why to bother about 200Mb, because it does matter a lot for me
Thanks in advance.. :good:
Try to use this app: RAM Expander

Dont do anything like ram expander. That works fine but decreses the life of sd card.

You need to do some reading on RAM. Unused RAM is wasted RAM.
As for why you're "missing" some of it, blame it on Android and the GPU.
