[Q] App2zip not restoring apps installed on internal sd - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I tried to backup my apps using app2zip 2x now
on 2 different occasions
apps that are installed on internal sd do not restore with their saved data
is anyone else having this problem?
can anyone explain why this happens?

I'm having an issue with the apps not responding, they are all installed but do not work

it was a good app but has failed me sometimes ... i use ROM toolbox pro never had an issue with them and they do a batch restore /also batch back-up need to have usb-debugging on and your good to go unfortunately i cant trouble shoot your problem, you could also try titanium back up they make ZIP for back ups as well if you prefer that method good luck

Launcher Pro backup error

Trying to backup my launcher pro settings and screen layout and keep getting an error that states "an error has occurred while trying to create the backup. Please make sure the SD card is available."
I realize I can uninstall and reinstall but if I do that I will lose the data I am trying to backup. Any alternate fixes for this? I have done the following:
- deleted the LauncherPro folder from SD card
- reseated the SD card
Thanks.
backup problem
I have the same problem - this is a recurring problem for me... If anyone has a work around, I would love to hear it. It's very frustrating that this happens.
Use Titanium to backup the data first, then delete and reinstall LP, then restore your data.

I/O error write to sd card (mybackup pro)

trying to restore apps and i get this message! ? fix?
the restore of data was fine but apps wont!
I'm getting this too when trying to restore my data after flashing a new rom. Let me know if you hear of any solutions.
The mybackup website says its an SD card error.. that may be the case, but it was working fine an hour ago on the old rom I had (because I'm new I can't post the link, but a quick google to their FAQ and you'll see what I mean)
I think my issue was due to the SD card. I reformatted it and then copied the contents back again from my laptop. I've now re-installed the new ROM and am using mybackup root to restore my contents as I type this - all seems fine so far
Thanks for the feedback.
What did you format normal or ext or both

I had the same error. I don't find how to fix it but how to recover my data app.
Save the backup on your PC
Execute all .apk in my save folder from your phone
Launch mybackup to do another apps save with data
Copy all file wich are not .apk in the old backup (on your pc) and past them in the new backup folder on your phone (replace all existing file)
And finaly restor the backup, it will restore the data with the app
It's not "user friendly" but it worked for me, it was not a SD card issue
I was having this same issue. Watching alogcat revealed that an apk that MBP was expecting was not there, causing an IO error.
I tried to restore again, this time unselecting that specific app and it appears to be working.
So to fix it, install alogcat and watch for errors as the restore is taking place. This should clue you in on the problem.

This was exactly my problem. Seems like the ****ing program didn't actually back up a damned thing. The folder which was supposed to have the backed-up APKs was completely empty.
I had to restore from an older backup and it worked.
I guess that's just what happens when you rely on free apps.
Just got the same STUPID problem - I'll try the fix above.
The only reason I chose MyBackup Root was because you can do "0-click batch restore" for free which you can't with the free version of Titanium Backup.
EDIT: Backups won't restore. It says "I/O Error". I've had the SD card for a few weeks and it was working perfectly with Titanium Backup. Also, everything's been properly installed formatted and fixing permissions and clearing caches makes no difference.
EDIT 2: After running aLogcat, it says that Mybackup has the following error: "...apps/appnamehere: open failed: EM0ENT (No such file or directory). It's like this for most of my of apps (and I have hundreds) that are now lost with all their data!
Also, none of the apps that do restore so far link to the market (it says this after restore).
This app really needs updating to resolve these serious issues.

When backing up apps and data again it STILL won't backup some apps!! Any suggestions?

[Q] Backing up programs on SD card

If I use titanium backup to back up programs that are on the SD card, then flash a new rom, and reinstall the apps, will they work properly still?
Since only minimal data is on the phone, does titanium backup put it back the way it was, or do I have to move them back to SD card again?

Apps working fine!
okay i had a lot to do with titanum backup recently. with the user apps there was never a problem, they were restored just as they were before and to their original location, this works for different roms. also app data was no problem( so all your configurations are fine, too). only the widgeds on the homescreen didnt load properly but readding them solved this.
but you should be careful restoring system data when you are using different roms.
not all roms have the same versions. you might get a lot of fc's... for an example i used CM 7 flashed ICS when restoring the "Contacts" storage i got some mysterious bugs concerning the contact data.
I hope this was useful for you
Oh I don't backup system data. I leave that for a recovery backup. The only program I have that is on system data is FPSE, and it's own backup feature.
Thanks

Poor Performance on Sense 3.5 ROMs

Hey guys,
i used good old InsertCoin ROM most time, but i'd like to use new Sense 3.5 now.
I tried Runnymedia AIO and Runny ROM. Both perform ok at first, but then i restore my apps using Titanium Backup. Now the device performs extremely slow after i use the market (play store).
Increasing CPU Frequency doesn't help either. How can i find out, whats slowing my device down?
Using STOCK HBOOT with 1GB Ext4 Partition.
Radio: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Instead of Restoring apps, why not try re-downloading them from the Play Store. My Phone is super smooth. No problems yet.
It seems that you're right. App-restoring might be the problem. I removed most apps which i restored with TB and now its smooth again.
But of course i want to keep my App-Data (/data) from my InsertCoin installation.
I'll try installing BackupEverything on IC, backup my apps with this app and then restore to Runny ROM.
Any idea why that might be?
I also have a slow RunnyMod after restoring via Titanium to restore my apps, but most of them have no other way to backup...
Slow, after restoring with BackupEverything too. And BE doesn't even backup /data/data
Somebody knows a tool which actually works?

I backup my apps using AppMonster PRO. Have done since I got my Desire 2 years ago.
It allows for plain name backup of .apks and using its newer backup method, allows for batch reinstall of apps. Also can specifiy how many versions of an apk to keep / as2d notification and automatic backup of .apk when installed.
Doesn't do cache backup and user customizations that can be carried over from one install to another in way that Titanium Backup does, but works fab for me, I just reinstall wot I want!
In this way I dont get any mess up's when switching roms were I restore a TB backup and it puts the data in the wrong place.
I always backup and restore with ic_backup_apps.zip and ic_restore_apps.zip. I can't find the original links (there was a link in the Insertcoin thread) and I don't know if I'm allowed to post mirrors here. But a google search should help you get those files I think.
ic_backup_apps stores all the apks in a .tar file on you sd card and also wipes your system, be careful
ic_restore_apps unpacks this file and puts them back
To install another ROM I always do the following:
backup apps with titanium (only user apps+data, no system data)
backup sms, call log and "some" system settings with Mybackup root
power off, reboot in recovery
a nandroid backup is advised, you should do this regulary anyway imo
flash ic_backup_apps.zip as you would flash any other zip. But be careful, this also wipes everything
full wipe (data+system+boot+sd-ext+cache+dalvik) + battery stats, so everything except sd card
flash the rom.zip
flash ic_restore_apps.zip
power off, (remove sim, to prevent incoming sms while restoring), reboot
switch off automatic backup (it's not needed now)
restore with mybackup root
restore (some) user app data with titanium
I've wiped and flashed multiple sense 3.5 ROMs this way and never had problems with slowness or FCs.
Your SD card could also be a bottleneck.

[Q] How to restore with Titanium Backup on Dev Edition

I have succesfully rooted my device, busybox installed and changed platform.xml to add media RW.
After that titanium backup was able to find my backup folder on the external SD and i tried to restore apps but none would restore

Sorry I hadn't seen earlier. You might have solved your problem in the meantime. First thing I would try is uninstall and then reinstalling Titanium Backup. 2nd, move your backup location to the phone instead of your external card. (Temp to test the program). Run a backup and try restoring a couple files to see if the restore is working from phone storage. That will tell you if its TB or a permissions problem. Once you've confirmed it's working, change your location back to your TB folder on the external drive (TB will find it when you ask it to). Reboot and try a new backup. Then try a restore from the new backup on the SD card.
If you are still having the same problem, your External card is either bad or you haven't fixed the permissions yet.
I had some problems with TB backing up. Kept dismounting the SD card and erroring out. Eventually, just bought a new Samsung card and stuck my Sandisk Pro back in a box. Good Luck.
USB debugging turned on? When off I get the same kind of handling. Turning it on gets it going right away.
