[Q] Cant find Offline Google maps when restoring - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

when I change mods and put my apps back with data
google maps can't find the offline maps
so every time I flash a new mod I have to redownload them all
I have tried with titanium backup and app2zip
neither works
is there a work around?
or and app that will restore them?

Make sure when restore the offline maps they are in the exact same place/folder/name from where they were when you originally downloaded them from. I've had it happen with other apps, so maybe that's what is happening with these. Somehow the system moved my apps to another place and renamed them.

[Q] What does Google Backup, backup and restore?

Just curious, what does Google Backup backup? I assumed some settings like WiFi, Wallpaper, Marketplace apps. Is there anything else?
I have seen that wallpaper, contacts are backup and restored properly. Even Wifi is restored properly.
But never seen Market apps downloaded . Only once I have experienced this restored.
Is there any setting or file which needs to be edited to make it work smooth?
Market aps get restored always for me!
n i dont like it! so i keep restore off...

It's a great feature that destroys iTunes and its silly need for tethering to backup (until iOS5 i guess).. but it lacks any sort of control or viewing. Would be nice if you could goto your google account and see what has been backed up and whether or not you want to clean the list for future restores.
In stock rom of SEA15, only wallpaper, wifi password, contacts are restored. It does not restore the apps which I had installed from market. How to make those app automatically get downloaded on stock rom sea15?
in miui.us versions of ROM, the apps are automatically downloaded when you give your google account details in begining. In stock rom it does not happen

Do apps sync when flashing a new ROM?

Might sound like a stupid question. I just unlocked, rooted, and flashed Jelly Belly, and was wondering if there was a quick way to recover your apps. The only way I've known is to login to play.google.com and send all the apps I want manually through the web interface. Is it possible to have your apps auto sync once you login to your Google account for the first time upon setup? Maybe some other way. It just pains me to manually have to go to the Google Play Store web interface from my computer and send each app one at a time to my phone. Thanks guys.
during the time when you set it up and logged into google it should of asked you to restore apps if it didnt well then your going to have to do them one by one unless of course you had titanium backup or something
I think while I was still on stock ICS and did a full wipe for a new kernel when I rebooted all my apps started downloading instantly as soon as I signed into Google. Since then thought that hasn't happened. I just go to the play store and look at my app purchase history and download the ones I had. Would like to know how to set up the auto feature, I think it might have to do with the Currents folder I have that is being backed up to Google now.

Yeah, that's the issue I'm having. I know a friend of mine doesn't have this issue. Everytime he flashes a new ROM his apps are restored automatically. On the other hand, when I sign into my Google account for the first time, my apps aren't synced and downloaded automatically. Everything else is, like contacts, etc get restored, but not apps for some reason. Any idea why my Google account isn't syncing my apps?
Just backup user apps and data through adb or a toolkit and restore when done. I've flashed all of the stock update leaks using this method, up and running in no time with everything back to normal. Don't backup system apps and data unless are reflashing the same ROM.

Can Titanium Backup do this?

Load Rom THEN phone settings?? HELP!?

Gentlemen,
I've rooted my GS3 - works flawlessly. Id like to start experimenting with various ROMS. My questions is
once I've done an android backup with CWM, and the new ROM is loaded, how do I reinstall all of my apps,
and settings (mail, etc)?? I have Titanium backup installed and have backed up each of the important apps one
by one.......
Easier way? That could take hours to recreate.
THanks

Generally restoring phone settings between different ROMs isn't a great idea and can lead to various problems.
You can have you apps reinstalled automatically when you login to Google on first boot.
It reinstals apps on installing google mail??????? HOW?
Now I'm really peaked about loading a new rom..........

Usually when you boot Android for the first time, you're asked to put in your Google credentials - these are used for Gmail, but also to log you in to the Play Store. Then there is usually an option to restore the phone, and it will proceed to download all of your apps.
If you buy the pro key for titanium backup it automates the backup and restore process. And it is fine to restore apps and data (not system data) from one ROM to another. I even restored apps and data from my Atrix to my S3.

[Q] Question for new ROMS and the wanted Apps?

I update my phone with new ROMs every now and then, I like to have that option of custom ROMs, but I have a question about google play, sometimes it downloads all of my apps if it detects if I have the same ROM as last one and it auto downloads the apps I had before, but this new ROM I have it doesn't seem to this, is there any way I can just press a button and it will download all the apps I have in "My Apps" on google play, I deleted the crap I didn't need but I still have over 50 apps and I don't want to do one by one, please and thanks, sorry for my English is not that good.

Some roms allow you to backup and restore phone from Google Play account when you are going through the setup at the beginning. Best bet however would be to download Titanium Backup and backup all apps. When you flash a new rom you re-download TiBu and you can install all the apps+their data.

I'm afraid if you didn't make a nandroid or backup using TiBu, nothing. Sorry
I use cm10 that has nightly updates that I update through the settings. It doesnt effect my apps or anything. But you need to back up your apps if you change roms with titanium backup before changing roms.

Is the pro version recommended? Should I buy it? What is the difference.
The pro version is absolutely recommended. For one thing, it allows you to "freeze" apps instead of just delete them. This comes in handy when you have to re-install GAPPS because it will remember if you freeze any of the GAPPS programs whenever you re-flash GAPPS.
Also, the Pro version lets you restore all apps with just a couple button clicks. Vs. the free version which makes you click "okay" for every single app you want to restore. Gets real tiring after awhile.
Anyways. When you're installing a ROM, most will give you an option when you sign into GOOGLE for the first time. That option is whether you want Google to back up or restore your phone. If you select "restore" then it will typically re-download all your last apps to your phone.
If you want to get this option again, you might try signing out of Google on your phone and reboot and log back in. Dunno if that will do the trick or not. You may just need to reflash.

Uninstalled google search on stock rooted Rom - now having issues - help!

Hey everyone,
I uninstalled Google Search (google now) because I couldn't click on any of the settings on my stock, s-off, rooted and unlocked rom with flar2's kernel. I had a titanium backup of it, but restoring just the backup without any of the data did not work. Nor did restoring the app+data.
I reinstalled the application on the play store, but now I am having force close issues when I try to open it from anywhere. I know the original name of the application on our phones is Velvet.apk, but I can't recall if it was in system/app or system/priv-app. Does anyone know? If you could look and tell me, I would put the titanium backup apk into that folder and then install from there to see if that fixes the problem.
Please please please help! Google now is a huge part of my phone experience. It's really annoying because even after uninstalling it and reinstalling it from the play store, I still could not click on any settings. So stupid.
