Xperia Arc S
Hello everybody, im new here so if im doing something wrong lemme know.
Im looking to unlock the bootloader of my sony ericsson, but instead of Xperia Arc mine is Xperia Arc S. I don't know if there is any difference since the phones are very similiar.
I didn't found any topic about my problem, so if you consider this as different stuff, i can make a new topic.
Thanks in advance!
Method for Arc works on Arc S, too.
So send them a pm if you don't want to use Sony Ericsson's method.

Will unlocking my bootloader erase my data?
Hello,
I own a Xperia Arc, LT15i.
Running on 2.3.4 (4.0.A.0.42),ROOTED.
I wanna unlock my bootloader to install a custom ROM.
Will this erase my data?
If so, What all data?
Having a nandroid backup will restore my data?
Thank you
If unlock bootloader, arc will wipe, erase app and all data. You can make nandroid after unlock bootloader by flash cwm recovery image

yeah sony website gives u step by step instructions...Good that they promote such open developer community activities
Okay so I had a look to see if I could unlock my bootloader the SE way (http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions) but when I did the whole *#*#.............#*#* thing it said I cant unlock my bootloader, is this just them saying I cant or is that a definate and final NO?
My other problem is that when I am downloading torrents through any torrent client my WiFi keeps dropping and reconecting, any ideas?
Which way do you want to unlock? Your device is xpeir arc or arc S?
If arc (not arc S), you can use omunius (please seach by google with omunius).
After unlock xperia arc by omunius, you can see the information unloked allowed:yes, but, it is actually unlocked.
If you use SE unlock, you can see the boot loader unlocked: yes.

I have got an arc S (LT18i), Android Version is 4.0.3. Do you need any other info?
I want to remove the Bootloader Lock, Root and learn how to change the Kernel (I know nothing about Kernels yet).

Sorry, my question didn't have no meaning.
If you see the "Bootloader unlock allowed : no", you cannot unlock Sony's official way.
You have to use some unofficial way, like omunius which require some fees, to remove DRM. If you unlock by omunius, you does not lose DRM feature. But I don't know the way to re-lock the bootloader.
I looked around but couldn't find definitive answer hense the question and as for the torrent, if I wanted to used a pc I would or I would use one of my laptops, but I dont, I want to use my phone. Cheers for the point sarcastic answer though

The answer to bootloader unlocking is in the stickys, which if People read more it would reduce the amount of duplicate threads, and as for torrenting, I just don't see the point of doing it on a phone.

Thank
There's no free lunch mate.

Cost 24 USD. Many people said it's the best $24 they'd spent. Safe and easy.

Thank but I don't have $24.
Any other solution anyone ? Free if possible, or less than $10 because I don't have a lot of money...

That is the only way to unlock your bootloader. I did it and it was a quick and painless process. I understand if you don't have the money but that's your only solution.

Hi xda,
I'm new in this forum
I bought a Sony Xperia ION (LT28at) and I rooted with a .bat file
How can I install Jelly Bean versions if my bootloader is locked
It says: Bootloader unlock allowed: NO
Thanks for your help
and sorry for my English ;D
Instead of posting a new thread, use the search button and read please. This topics were discussed many times.
You will get Jelly Bean when it will be released. Official JB for iON not yet released.
You can update official JB with a locked bootloader also. Unlocking bootloader not required.
But Bootloader unlocking required if you want to use any custom ROM and post questions in Q/A forum next time please.
Thanks for your reply and your welcome,
I know, the ION doesn't have Jelly Bean, but I can install a JB Custom ROM?
Can you please put the url to unlock my bootloader?
Its secure to do that?
If your bootloader status says this= "Bootloader unlock allowed: NO"
then i am afraid you won't be able to unlock the bootloader using the traditional way by yourself my friend.
You either have to pay for it or contact your carrier for unlocking. But i think JB for iON may not be very far, so u can wait if u want.

JB was released today in America for the LT28at by the way.
Try to use the Sony PC software to do the update.

Thanks for the civilized reply. I suppose that's the one. I haven't agreed to the update yet, so shame on me for assuming it was 4.1
it's definitely misleading that their JB updates rolled out today and this BS update came out too though.
OP, you're SOL man.. at least until Sony and AT&T actually decide to update this thing like they said they would months ago.
Hi, I m from Brazil
I just bought a Xperia ZQ and it s my first Sony. Can you help me with some questions?
I ve already know that I can change my carrier version by another registered one downloaded right here in xda website without root or unlock the bootloader, right?
As I m not a developer, why would I need to root and unlock the bootloader?
Where, if It is possible, can I find different skins and themes for it?
How can I know about new upates? For example, new releases of firmware or android versions?
Thank you

Its called Xperia ZL so just search it on the search for device bar. You dont have to be a developer to unlock as unlocking can give you cool roms that can be very much customized.

You get updates thru SONY and you will get a notification when you can get a update.
To see if you can unlock your bootloader go to
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions as it will tell you the directions then once you have unlocked, go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2095 and find some roms. ( its a little dangerous if you dont know what your doing ) and UNLOCKING will void the warranty

If you have already unlocked your bootloader, without backing up your Drm Keys, then you wont get the bravia engine back.

The phone is fantastic, but the battery is below average even with 3g, altough the relates i hear about SIV are even worse. Since HTC don't sell officialy in Brazil anymore, i don't trust in LG and Motorola don't have a rival for these phones i think ZQ is the best choise.
I'm a heavy user, so i charge it twice a day,but with moderate use + stamina mode i think you can get a day of battery.
