I think this is making less ram available. . How can I change this?
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda premium
You have 2GB of RAM on a phone. Trust me the days of worrying about what's running and what's not is behind us. Besides with ram the old saying, "waste not, want not." comes into play. You can't be wasting RAM if you're not using it. But I wouldn't worry about those extra processes.
I would prefer the ram being free from unwanted loads.. One facebook is bad enough but two? Is there a way to fix this?

I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions as to which browser might cause more or less battery drain?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
I am curious about this as well. I am currently using ADW EX and I like it alot. I know alot of people are using Go Launcher now. I heard they collect information ..any truth to that?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
wait, I'm confused..are we talking about browsers or home launchers?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Well, I was talking about browsers.
I want info on both sorry. I didn't want to start a seperate thread for a launcher...sorry for confusion

I wanna know this too cause most my battery drain is from surfing the net on stock browser. I am thinking 3g radio is the culprit.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
you all should try bad ass battery monitor from the market. that way u can compare browser batt stats anf launchers also. its free and self explanatory. Hope that helps out

Bizarre, i literally came here to ask this. I started using dolphin hd recently and noticed it was showing as about 20 percent of battery usage after just a few minutes of use. The stock browser rarely shows in the log at all. I am curious if it is just because the stock browser hides its usage somewhere else.

Maybe the stock browser somehow gets included in Android System or Android OS numbers. I am trying to find more info

Usually my ram is at 500-600mb at normal usage but now after I installed antutu benchmark test from play store it keeps increasing to .9gb to 1.12gb with no usuage at all I clear ram leave it then check it out after hour or so the ram fills up and draining the battery with 10% drained I restarted the phone same thing even with uninstalling the app it is really annoying draining the battery like that and having ram at this level what do u think I should do or what is causing it.
Thanks

It will remain always like that. you need not to do anything, android itself having LMK(low memory killing) and will make free whenever it needs.
So keep as it is, It's good for health.
PS : Though you want to keep free, use option limit background process in developer option in setting, don't know ultimately how much it will improve battery, but surely it will take time to open application.
Don't worry too much about RAM usage, and don't use task killers. Unlike with Windows or your usual linux distribution, android has control on which app stays in memory and which one is killed. And it is pretty good at managing this without user intervention.
As for battery life, I recommend BetterBatteryStats if you whant to know what is draining it. But by personal experience, I think you should look at apps that use background data connection, like Facebook.
Mine always sits around 1.55 - 1.65ghz lol
Edit: I just realised I wrote GHz instead of GB. *facepalm* fail on my behalf lol

Gosh there is difference between cpu and ram
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
I did a factory reset and same problem still exist ram at 0.95gb - 1.12gb why. When I usually do factory reset it settles at 500-600mb now with no apps it is high as mentioned above.

I'm annoyed because it wasn't like that before and annoyed me more when I did a factory reset and found ram high as before :banghead:

Does anything not work as you think it should? Or is this just a matter of numbers? Any performance issues?
See what I'm getting at?
What's the problem?

The problem it wasn't like that and now the issue is the battery drainage with this high ram even after a factory reset.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
The battery drainage is much more likely from you constantly trying to kill all those apps, since they then have to restart again. If your phone is not slow, just don't worry about it.

Install an apo called ram booster. Works gr8

I don't think you understand how RAM and android work together. Having a big amount of ram used up is not a bad thing. it just means that there are plenty of things cached so apps start faster, web sites load up faster etc. If you have a big battery drain then you might reconsider your ram issues as probably something is active all the time and using your cpu involuntarily which shouldn't be the case.
Well i didnt use to have this problem and it gets to the stage where the phone starys to lag to much and when i check the ram it sometimes have 50 ram free only. I have to restart the phone and then after a few hours when i check the phone again its back to max ram without me starting anything.

Free RAM is wasted RAM
Its not a faulty sd.

You're troubleshooting a problem that doesn't exist. So good luck, you'll never be able to fix it because it's not a problem in the first place.
Hmm strange people around xda lately.
Of-course it's a problem you numbnut and its called "memory leaks" but you wouldn't know that while trolling around.
The perennial problem of having low free memory causing lagginess and slowness in launching apps. When you have free memory lingering around the number of 40MB or less, the Android OS just lags like hell.

Are you on a custom rom or stock rom? If you are on a stock rom make sure you have S Voice disabled as its a major source of lag.
I am having the same issue with both. Even tried full data wipe and restore.
I'm totally stock, no root. Major lag when opening gallery and unlocking phone.

Seems like a bug within the update. Also go to settings>applications>and look to see what app is taking up valuable ram.

It seems to only affect the gallery and wake screen.
Also, after doing a full wipe, I am now getting lockups while using some apps, YouTube, I funny, and while messaging. The screen will freeze, then after about,, 30 seconds it will reboot.
Again, I'm all stock

Also major battery drain issues. When my phone hits 18% power, just the phone at idle will die in less than 30 mins.

You can try flashing, cyanogenmod 10.2 stable d2att on your phone and make sure you wipe your phone clean first before installing. This rom is definitely a battery saver on my phone. No lags whatsoever.
I'm wanting to keep the phone stock. Just curious if there was an app bogging it down or something like that.

saw 2 files you removed that I'm just giving an experienced warning on for others...if you remove the voicemail, you will not receive any notifications if you get voice messages, again I know from experience
not gonna double quote the other pic I saw but the google text to speech file, another 1 that if you ever use your phone on the road for gps, you will not get turn by turn voice directions...yes I've done this and experienced the loss of turn by turn voice
other than that, nice listings and compilation for users

Thank you for the for letting them know that , voicemail for me if I miss a call I just hit and hold 1 and takes you to the old style voicemail
And I dont use voice stuff at all for my phone kinda pointless to me when you have google on mobile web...lol...
Tell you what man deleting all this is amazing how much battery I have gained and how much smoother the phone and performance is
If you and any of you have anymore pointers for the apps being deleted please feel free to share
This list is the list I personally deleted because I never have or never will I use
hey man no problem, I'm like you, I rip all that crap out!! lol even the custom roms, but sometimes when I miss calls at work, I don't bother just dialing the voicemail and next thing you know, I get the message over a week late lol gotta love the space it all frees up too and speeding up the phone and saving battery life for sure
again good posting up of the pics for people to actually see and follow along
