Hi, I need some help choosing a ROM.
I have a Galaxy Note 2, SGH-I316M with 4.1.2.
The Baseband version is I317MVLBMA3, and the Kernal version is 3.0.31-861899.
This is originally a Rogers phone, and is unlocked and currently being used with Telus. Rooted as well.
I am looking for a 4.2.2 ROM that is as vanilla as possible. Stability is my main concern, I don't want any issues.
Ideas, suggestions. I have had issues with ROMs and my Baseband/kernal not working great, so that is an important detail.
Flash them all and see for yourself

Have you even looked in the development section? Besides just flash them and see which fits your needs. Or just do some reading in the OP of each rom

Hi everyone!
Please be gentle as this is new for me for a phone, not new here on xda just spent time on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 forums, just new to the T mobile SG2. I just picked this excellent phone yesterday and have already rooted it. I have the tab 10.1 running task's ROM with perhoot's kernel and flashing ROM etc is pretty straight forward since it isn't with a carrier, just WiFi. I currently have Android 2.3.6 and want to flash a ROM, I am back and forth between Bombaridier V.3.5 and CyanogenMod 7 Self-Kang #2 Alphafied 2.3.7 or any other one that someone would recommend?
Since I have never owned an Android phone only the tab 10.1 I have some question and I did search but am still confused and dont want to screw up.
1. If I am on 2.3.6 can I flash one that says 2.3.7?
2. I am on t mobile, so the one I flash needs to be in the Android development on the T Mobile forum located here?
3 any other thing I need to do so I don't lose the base band of the phone (i guess that is what they call it) as my wife has an iPhone and I keep seeing instructions for preserving base band?
3. Anything I missed that I need to know about?
All I really really appreciate the help and guidance just want to get on a custom ROM as I love it on my tab 10.1, thanks again everyone!!!

Welcome!
1. You can flash from 2.3.6 to 2.3.7 no problem.
2. Any ROM that is in this specific subforum will work. Do NOT flash anything for any other Galaxy S II, it may brick your phone.
3. Basebands are not included in roms, so you will not lose it, unless you flash a new modem.
Just remember to always perform a full wipe, I recommend the Darkside Super Wipe. You can backup your apps with Titanium Backup.
Hope this helps!

Thanks, just flashed with success. Appreciate the help.

Look into TDJ's superwipe in the rom section. I do that between flashes since it keeps things clean.
An example is that before it came out, i had 1.8 gigs used on my rom partition, and after using it and installing all the same apps with data(restoring with titanium) and having the phone rebuilt to the same state with another samsung based rom, it was only 1.1 used. Lots of junk gets left behind here and there.
You can also flash AT&T Skyrocket ROMs, Kernels, Radio Modems, Recoveries, and Odin's.
Hi there.
I have rooted my Japanese Nexus but never taken the plunge and flashed a rom.
I'm keen to try out Jellybean but I have a few questions;
1) Should I flash the stock rom or a customised one?
2) Which version do I use with my phone?

1) It depends upon what kind of ROM or features you are looking for. It does not matter whether you flash stock or custom one as long as you are getting the features that you need.
2) All versions compatible with GSM Galaxy Nexus will work with your phone. So you can use any version you like.
I am personally using ARHD 6.0.0 which is based on the latest JB 4.1.1

Thanks
I'm not looking for anything special, just a little extra speed in games and better battery life. Even a little would be nice.
Hi XDA Members,
I have an average understanding of rooted android devices and roms. I currently have a Tmobile Galaxy Note II (T0ltetmo)(T889) that is rooted. It has TWRP on it. I am running currently pacman rom (pac_t0ltetmo-4.3-20140128.zip) which works fine.
Here is the problem.... I am trying to upgrade to a Pacman Rom that is based on Android 4.4 which I have found. I installed the Pacman rom 4.4 & GAPPS stock 4.4 which works flawlessly, the only problem is..... My Radio doesn't work! I have my GSM Sim in and nothing comes up! Heres the thing aswell... I installed other roms that are based on 4.4 and the radio's doesn't work on any of those ROMs either, as soon as restore my other backups that are 4.3 the radio works.
What could be the problem? Is there something I am forgetting to do that the developers didn't tell me? Do I need to install something else that wasn't specified?
Please help!
Flash the newest kernel and modem if you haven't already. I noticed much the same when just testing 4.4 from a 4.1 rom.

SOLVED! I flashed just the modem and everything was fine! Thank you.
I had recently obtained a s3 its a T-mobile, its running 4.1.2, with the T999UVDMD5 baseband. I rooted it, flashed xposed(haha the only thing XD). Well, reading about/friends have said there was trouble with the 4.3 update so I decided to stay on 4.1.2.
However, now I've decided to flash a custom rom, and I have noticed the different labels(D2lte, D2tmo, D2usa) and I had read from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736477 "As of right now, the roms for your S3 are not meant to be used on other S3 variants" .
I have a few questions:
1.There was a baseband update, should I update it? If so, how exactly?
2.Would it be wise to flash a D2lte on This T-mobile device? I was looking at Resurrectionhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2692481(originally waiting on cm11 but.. Yeah lol)
3.Looking at KitKat rooms, which ones could I flash?
4.Would it be safe, if I did flash a 4.4.2 to restore a nandroid backup of my fresh rooted stock 4.1.2.
5.Lastly, what kernel would you say use?(Sorry to ask, curiosity as to which i could flash)
I appreciate taking your time to answer my questions and have a good day!
1) custom recovery.. There are zips available to flash
2) d2lte covers all d2 devices so its safe
3)Any on the development threads
4) Yes
5) like on 3, you can flash any kernel in the development threads, experiment and see which one works the best for you!

To answer your questions:
1. You do not need to update your firmware - I'm still on MD5. Modems, however, can be flashed separately from firmware.
2. You can flash d2lte ROMs on this phone as it's all one unified build for US SGS3 variants. (I.e. T-Mobile/AT&T/Sprint/Verizon SGS3 is now all built under d2lte).
3. As far as which KK ROM to flash...just try them all out and see which ones you like the best. Each ROM has different features - see which one is right for you.
4. If you don't update your firmware, then yes. (FYI, flashing a custom KK ROM does not update your firmware. However, if you flash one of the 4.3 root66 files that has firmware included, then it will update your firmware).
5. Again, try it out. It's hard to say which ROM/kernel combination will work best. I suggest you read the forums to see what people think of them.
Hope that helps.

No problem, and i forgot to say but the only time you might need to update modem is if you flash a 4.3 touchwiz ROM, other than that its not really needed unless you want to experiment and see if one gives you better results

Oh, and one more thing: DO NOT flash a ROM that is for the international version of the SGS3 (i9300). It will, most definitely, brick your phone.
Don't know if you knew that or not...just wanted to make sure.
I just got a SCH I515 for my mother and it's currently running Cyanogenmod 10.2. This is going to be her first smartphone, but she's familiar with the stock ROM on my Note 2. So, I was looking for a stock rooted 4.2.2 ROM. I've tried searching for a stock rooted ROM without any luck. I really don't need a rooted ROM for her, but I'd really like to run Rom Toolbox and Titanium Backup.
So, does anyone have a link to a stock rooted ROM? If there's one that has all the bloatware removed like the Sophisticated ROM I ran on my Note 2 that'd be ideal.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I have no experience with the i515.
As far as I know there are no TouchWiz ROMs for the i535 at version 4.2.2 because it never official got the update (straight from 4.1.2 to 4.3.0). Are you looking specifically for TouchWiz ROMs or are AOSP acceptable too?

I'd prefer a TouchWiz ROM as my mom is somewhat familiar with that. I'm really just looking for a debloated stock ROM.

I know many people on Google+ that swear by this ROM. It's called Shiny ROM. Here's a link to the page on Rootzwiki: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/36706-romaosp3914-shiny-rom-ota-like-stock-android-442-kvt49l/
Read all about it over there. Hope to have helped a bit.

That looks like a good ROM. Is there a way I can use the Samsung TouchWiz keyboard on an AOSP ROM? I personally hated the kb in every AOSP ROM I tried on my Note 2.
