Hi all, I'm recently using european Optimus G (E975) together with H3G (I'm in Italy).
Although the E975 has pentaband LTE, it doesn' even show LTE capabilities into settings menu. I read that it seems like there's some kind of exclusive with Vodafone. Is that true?
Are you able to use LTE with the E975 with any other operator? Which one? And, most of all, any other italian can confirm it's working with Vodafone only?

Changing carrier name in build.prop will bring up the LTE option.
But you have to know the correct abbreviation for your carrier or you may have a bootloop.

Can you please post your build.prop with your carrier name? I would like to have an idea on what kind of nomenclature did they choose.
Just to be sure: if I do insert a value for ro.build.target_operator for a carrier known to work with LTE (let's say VODAFONE in Italy), I will be able to have back LTE settings, right?

Did you read the OP carefully? Only with certain carrier the LTE settings it's not hidden. Thus, you must have one of those carrier.

No. Once more, read the OP.
I don't know the reason, but Optimus G doesn't work out of the box with any lte capable carrier although it's pentaband lte.
And, of course, I already have an lte capable sim.

I guess it's just a matter of having officially tested the device with the carrier's net. But, as long as it's a standard (or it should be given some "caveat"), why lg doesn't just leave it open for users to try?!

I know of course that the APN it's automatically set based on carrier, but you can always change it if you want.
Anyway, there's no point in asking h3g for a mobile phone bought somewhere else. It's not an h3g fault, it's lg who wrote the software and decided to put such a kind of blacklist for connectivity settings.

Okay to be clear, when I tried EU 10b on my E971, there was no LTE option. I changed carrier name to RGS since I was on Rogers and rebooted and I had LTE option in the menu. APN has to be set up manually regardless.
Make a nandroid and change carrier name and reboot. If it doesn't boot, restore nandroid!

Yes, this is what I've already read around the web.
It's interesting nevertheless to know that modifying the build.prop you can anyway reactivate LTE capabilities. It would be nice to know what's the value to put into carrier.target for H3G Italy....
Do a nandroid first and try H3G.

I obtained a system dump off the AT&T unit, and I believe I have a workable root method for it. Needing a tester. Any volunteers with review/early units?

If you can get custom recovery, root, and all that jazz going on the Optimus g I will buy it and give you money. I have been sitting on my Inspire 4G until quad krait with really new and not just die shrunk adreno became available. Optimus g seems to be the ticket to turbo town if you can enable my scrubbing of at&t's bloatware and some aosp loving.

Assuming the recovery and boot image are signed, recovery could take a while. I'm not particularly worried about money.
Wow will the international and at & T and sprint versions all have the same development? Same ROMs etc.?
Any idea about the Optimus G having unlockable bootloader? Will get the device instantly.. Looks amazing

Roms will not be 100% compatible across the three. There will be a couple changes necessary such as kernel and radio drivers (ril) that would need to change,but for the most part, yes, development will be the same. If I get it, I can make flashable patches to run a rom from other variants.
As of now, lg says they won't unlock the bootloader and since its not out everywhere, no one has cracked it yet,but give it time and it will.

Got it off a guy on craigslist who said he bought it for $550. It's a C6506 according to the stock ROM, but the camera is broken. Colors come out wrong (reds look blue, and the photos look like black and white). Will try and get it fixed under warranty.

Exactly. I hadn't noticed until we tried to put my case on it and my friend noticed it. I don't think any ZL's have a different speaker position. I bought it for $260

Hmm, maybe, but it did say C6506 under model in the Timescape ROM. I unlocked the bootloader and put CM 10.2 on it. I tried to test my Tmo SIM in it but it didn't get a signal. Not even EDGE, so I think I just didn't let it try long enough. A network search only showed AT&T, but my friend is using it with Telcel in Tijuana without a problem, so it definitely supports HSPA+ 850.
It is possible though that the guy that I bought it from just flashed a C6506 FTF on it.

I have have the same problem as you, you can fix this issue downgraded to version 10.1.A.1.434.
This solve the color problems, but the camera will continue with a poor quality.
I have the same phone as you, and yes is a protype.
If you know any other way to solve this issue tell me.

Here is a pic of the camera now, I am glad it works since I really don't wanted to get a prototype unit, I was exited at first but now I am not sure..., I think I will have to sell it in order to get a normal one.

Looks like 4.2.2 broke the camera, so it's probably something to do with the drivers used in 4.2.2 and since these are prototype units, the new drivers don't work well with whatever camera hardware is in there. Have you tried CM 10.1?

Not yet, i dont have root on my ZL. only unlocked bootloader.
If anybody can tell us what file contains the parameters of the camera I think is possible change the values of the color balance of the camera. And that solve our problem.

All Sony (Ericsson) Prototypes starts with 0044.......
You can not fix the camera problem ... the colors yes but you will still notice that the pictures seem to be like "only 16 colors" pictures at low light
Also you are not able to update the phone officially over SEUS
How come they sell prototype phone on the market...did they make production for it...

From reading your post I found my self with a prototype too, the IMEI : 004402450555853, I have some serious bugs, the proximity sensor doen't work unless I press hard on it,the screen always turns black whenever I make a call, and when record a video, there is always a noise in the audio like a distortion, and I don't know how to claim warrenty since I bought this phone from a friend.

It's suppose to run good on Dalvik, but Dalvik's not working right concerning this issue, I wish it would work on Dalvik because I got apps and games that's not compatible with ART, that stinks LOL.

No you're not the only one, sorry for late reply, as of right now I don't what to do to fix this issue, also right now I'm rooted running a G3 Rom, so I can't attempt to address the issue, my apologies.[emoji20]

You are using the wrong preferred network type, you should be using "LTE/GSM/WCDMA" but actually unless your carrier uses bands 25, 26, or 41 for lte you should be using "WCDMA preferred".

Our LTE bands here are 800 and 1800 ,this is also printed on the box with the LTE bands its compatible with.

Try deleting these 2 files and rebooting, make a backup first of course.

You have to be rooted, then it is in root under system/apps
