Phone vibrates but doesnt turn on after flashing a rom. - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i decided to flash a rom to my device without knowing wtf i was doing, i did root it successfully but now whenever i try to turn on the device the phone simply vibrates and doesnt do anything else. I sent it to SE but they (obviously) said they couldnt fix it without changing the "mainboard" wich would cost me about 150 dollars which i really didnt feel like paying so i simply took the phone back. My question is: is there anyway to put it back to the stock rom or did i just brick my device for good?

download flashtool and flash the ftf for your phone. That should fix it. you probably tried flashing a rom that required a different kernel. Flashing the ftf will put everything back to stock. Search up fma965s guide for flashing ftfs and i\follow from there its really easy. Good luck and i hope you get it working

I did exactly what the guide told me to and it seemed to work perefectly until the end of the flash where it just said "Please Wait. Phone will reboot" so i waited for 10 mins without anything happening and when i plugged it out and tried to start it theres a red light wich just keeps blinking on top of the phone.

Do it again but don't wait the phone isn't going to reboot by itself. You have to unplug it and turn it on yourself. I don't know why you got a red light but try again and make sure your battery is charged

Arc died after 2.3.3 update

Hey folks, my Arc came up today saying that there was an update to the latest software 2.3.3 so I thought why not ill let it go through and update my Arc (wish I hadnt now) :*(
The update downloaded and then went through the update process next thing you know the phone now refuses to boot, charge or anything else.
I can put the phone into flash mode but unfortunatley I cant use SEUS as the bootloader has been unlocked and the phone was rooted.
Any idea how I can flash the generic lt15 rom I have downloaded? any help will be greatly appreciated as it feels like my right arm has been removed (I might add im right handed)
Thanks in advance for any responses.

Don't worry. As the other user have said this, you can download flashtool and flash Generic UK. It fixes the problem most of the time.

It was doing this before the flash.

so the flash was successful right?, it usually takes a bit of time to boot up, if it doesnt work, then flash the carrier firmware, and call them up and get it replaced

All I get is the notification LED faintly flashing green when I hold the power button, I have removed the battery and replaced it and tried flashing the phone.
One thing to note is that as soon as I plug in the phone it seems to go into flash mode straight away and keeps disconnecting and reconnecting (the flashes do complete before the disconnecting)

You said you are unlocked bootloader, then go to Bin4ry thread and install the img file for your phone and should fix it as well./
When you tried for the first time to update to 2.3.3 did you have enough battery. Sometimes during flashing the battery empties out and make sure that is not the case.

Are you using the file that is stated in the post you referenced? Im no unbricking expert but Not sure putting verizon firmware on a tmo phone works very well...
Also I had a problem with Odin awhile back and it turned out to be the cable I was using...
If you can get into download mode and have odin recognize your phone I believe you will be good to go if you put the correct software on your phone...
Think you should try to Odin back to a stock firmware for your phone instead of using some sort of "unbrick" method... use only one from this post

From an Odin guide I read, can't remember the one now. I believe it said to use the cable from the wall charger. Other cables may work, but that is the one that should work for some reason no matter what.
Good Luck.
If nothing else works on it, search for mobiletechvideos.com. I flashed I-9300 ROM onto my T-999 phone. Hard bricked it. I sent it to those guys and within 1 week, phone was back and was like it was before I flashed the wrong ROM. Great service they provide. It was also my only option. ha.

[Q] Clockworkmod froze during restore phone is brick-ish right now.

I spend the afternoon dicking around with my phone, because this was a plan I made a backup with clockwork mod.
I did something that caused a boot loop, no problem, restore from backup took a while but it went. then I tried again, but a little differently. same result. (after two failures I was just going to give up) got into recovery again and went to restore again. set the phone down, went and watched tv for half an hour. come back it's still on the screen for the restore. I look and the status bar is frozen, it doesn't look like it's done anything. Not much I can do at this point but reset it. I hit the reset button behind the panel and expected to be able to try again. WRONG. phone turns on, boots to the SONY logo screen and stays there. so I decided well I've rooted it once I can do it again. go to flash re-flash it, but when I boot into flash mode it says it's flashing data, but isn't actually doing anything. the status bar doesn't move nothing seems to be doing anything. Is there anything you can suggest to me that might get my phone up and running? I'm stuck using my old ARC which had it's problems, hence the upgrade.

Flash ftf file using flashtool or try repair feature in PC companion. Or maybe u can flash latest mod kernel and try to restore ur backup.
Before u begin flashing, please backup ur TA, u can find the guide in Z forum. Just for ur backup but please read carefully the procedure becoz messing with TA is extremely dangerous.

I've been trying to flash a new ftf, but it get stuck at "Flashing Data" and the bar sits at 0%
I can't backup anything any more and I can't flash the kernel because my phone doesn't have an unlockable bootloader, so I can't enable fastboot.

[Q] HELP! My Xperia Play Died!

Help! I think My Xperia Play died on me! Here's what happened. It may be a long post but PLEASE bear with me. I really need your help guys! My phone was just lying around on my desk and I decided to use it and was surprised because it won't unlock. So i thought that my home button was just malfunctioning and tried to slide it's game pad as it unlocks the phone by itself but still no respond. So I thought it turned off by itself and when I tried to turn it on, it won't turn on at all because there's no short vibration. Usually when we turn on our device, there's a short vibration right? So I removed the battery, placed it back again and turned on my phone and at last there's the short vibration. But after a while I noticed that the boot splash hadn't appeared yet. I waited for a couple of minutes but still nothing happens. When I turned it on again there's the short vibration and that's it. So I searched for solutions here on XDA and on the web and I tried almost all of it. I flashed it back to it's stock firmware using Flashtool and still the same. I tried using PC Companion and Sony Ericsson Update Service but still to no avail. I also relocked it's bootloader and reflashed everything again but nothing works. So I gave up because I thought it might be a hardware issue but I didn't drop my phone or anything so i don't know what went wrong.
Then the following day I decided to check on my phone again and to my surprise it's back to normal and I was really glad about it. So I didn't flash any custom ROM and Kernels because I'm afraid that it might screw everything again. I just rooted it and completely debloated it and installed init.d support for stock kernel. I flashed CrossBreeder and RTMixManager and modified it's systemui for quick panel and battery % mod. I also flashed custom boot animation and that's it. I was happy about my phone because it seems all is well.
But yesterday when I was about to use my phone, the same thing happened again! I tried to redo everything I did all over again but still nothing! I can still use it in flashmode and fastboot though. I also tried entering CWM Recovery. After I turned on my phone I spam pressed volume down and blue LED showed up with the vibration if you enter recovery mode but there's no display. Can anyone tell me what's the problem? It might be the flex cable or the digitizer but I don't know. Has anyone encountered the same situation as mine? Please help me! I don't know what's wrong with my phone!
P.S. I can't send it to Sony Centre as my warranty is already expired. My only option is buying a new Xperia Play. Because I browsed for replacement parts on the web and they don't ship it directly to my country and it costs too much if I have it ship to me indirectly.
You have a hardware failure, I see that right now is very common, you will need to replace the automatic light sensor, to get it working, or if you don't want replace it, you will have to switch onto JB, because it has ALS disabled by default.

[Q] Xperia ZL Loops on Sony Logo (Tried Everything)

Hello everyone
I have been a silent follower of xda from past 4 to 5 years and never had to ask for help
as I could figure out my way through when i get stuck untill now
My Xperia ZL loops on Sony Logo
My phone does enter FLASHMODE and FASTBOOT mode and im able to flash ftf Firmware without any errors in flashtool
but when it asks to unplug and restart my phone i get the same loops
I have tried yellow button Soft reset (stays in a loop after reboot)
i have tried yellow button Hard reset (Powers off after 3 vibrations)
I gave it to sony service here in India(Hyderabad) they are suggesting me to replace the motherboard which costs 24,000 INR/-(Seriously?)
i bought the phone 2 years back for 29,000 INR/- and now they want me to pay 75% of the price I strongly believe they follow their blind
rules of pushing the customer to go for motherboard replacement if they are not able to revive the phone after basic software flashing
but i still believe i can recover my phone if all the gurus out here can help me out
The phone still didnt go dead till now(some battery left may be still looping) ill try once again if the battery dies completely
EDIT:1
Tried flashing New 5.02 lollipop ftf, after successful flashing with no errors
unplugged it and tried to turn it on
Now red LED flashes 3 times but the device doesnt start
connected it to a wall charger and now i can see the kernel charging screen with battery symbol showing the charging
after some 7% charging indicated i tried to start the phone and the same inevitable loops with sony logo come back
Just plug it in and let it charge for a couple of hours, if it still bootloops, try Sony's Flashtool EMMA. I know people say it's ****, but it fixed my phone when I was in the same position as you.

Will try it out and let you know Thanks
Edit: Tried using emma tool but it says No services available for your device
in the supported devices list http://developer.sonymobile.com/services/flash-tool/supported_phones/
there is C6503 but no C6502
i see you can fastboot your devices.. Why not trying the Cyanogenmod for a moment?
Sent from my C6502, but already thinks to leave it for Lenovo Vibe Shot or Asus Zenfone Zoom

I think we need to access recovery to install the cyanogen mod zip right
i tried flashing TWRP boot image earlier with no errors in flashtool

Ill give it a try once again and let you know
is there any other way to flash cyanogen mod if not from recovery
thanks in advance
EDIT: Tried flashing CM
If i let the battery die till i get red led flashing 3 times
Im able to get to the recovery
installed CM and rebooted same old loops are back again
Now i feel all the doors are closed

Have you even tried to flash any .img file containing TRWP using flashtool? plus, when connecting the USB cable, use the white button under the cover to turn it off, then on, instead of the normal power button. After these steps, flash a NEW .ZIP rom Usin TRWP

CAUTION: IT IS FOR XPERIA Z >BUT IF U KNOW CORRECT POINTS THEN TRY IT for ZL on your OWN RISK.
otherwise as i said try to replace whole battery will have more chances to bring back to life.18-20 $ will be enough.

sony service centre ! They never do repair on z series. If it's in warranty drop it on service centre .they will give you a refurbished phone.
IF warranty is over you can ask them .But i m 100% sure they don't do repair as many other countries.Depends where you live.
you can do it on your own @ your own risk.Remember battery is slightly glued underneath the screen.
Always remember to order battery with that cables and connection.
Sorry for long reply .But in this kind of matters we are frustrated & you don't want to waste money & our phones.
use button
use the tiny button beside sdcard press that untill 3 times vibrate and hold button vol down in flasmood mode
Try boot with USB cable connected to 1.5A+ charger with good cable.
No Hope guys tried everything im pretty sure its battery problem but the service center guys dont want to listen to me at all
all they want me to do is get it replaced for a new phone for 24,000 INR (360$) are you kidding me? for a Xperia ZL
Im even ready to give away the phone if someone wants to help me out
I have the same problem with my ZL. Service center refused to replace the battery, so I asked someone else to do it. That however didn't fix the problem. When I push at the back between the flashlight and XPERIA the phone will switch off. When I disconnect the battery and connect it again it will start-up again. I removed the screw below the camera module, as fastening that one also made the phone turn off. There is something wrong with the motherboard. I always had my phone in a flip case and it didn't even have a single scratch on it. First time it went of was while making a video. Possibly overheating caused this problem or damaged a circuit at the motherboard. Very disappointed, phone was just 2 month out of warranty, first time off was within but that doesn't count.

I was in the same boat as you with my refurbished ZL. Flashed anything, doesn't boot. Then battery full drained and only red light. Service told me it's motherboard circuit. I didn't lesten them, bought cheap battery and replaced it by myself: and Xperia worked like a charm but only 3 months ))) New (cheap) battery got trouble on GPS route suddenly. And phone worked only with power cord connected, shutdown without. New battery will again fix it )
