[Q] Adding QI Inductive Charging with Extended Battery. - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I have added an Extended Battery 4500 mAh to Galaxy S3 (AT&T - i747). I'm a believer in Otterbox for protection etc. In doing so I 1st modified the back cover of the GS3. Didn't have to but thought it might help dust out. Then I had to modified the Otterbox Defender (Hard Plastic Case) case so the battery would fit (and it does nicely).
I now would like to add Qi Inductive Wireless Charging to the GS3. Since the 4500 mAh battery is about twice the size of the original 2100 mAh battery, installing the QI Inductive Patch by laying on the battery and putting the case on won't work.
My question is, could the leads on Qi Inductive Wireless Charging Receiver Patch be lengthened by soldering some leads to the patch so the leads could be routed to the internal contacts on the GS3. That way the patch could rest on the battery, just under the Silicone Skin of the Otterbox.
I don't see any reason it would work but wanted to see if anyone might have something to add that I might not have thought of. Any ideas would be welcome.

I don't see why it wouldn't either, but then you know how these things can go sometimes. I'll browse the web a little and see if I can find anything

Has anyone seen one of these anywhere? i was in a sprint store the other day and they had one for the epic4g, but the usb was on the other side.
Some online stores are reporting the last week of October but who knows really?

Anyone know if the Fascinate's will fit for the Captivate? On the Verizon Wireless site it is $10 cheaper than on Samsung's site. They have a bunch of accessories for the Fascinate including a 2200mAh extended life battery...The Captivate has crap for accessories.
Try and see if they have the dock at a Verizon store to test it.
This is on the Samsung site...

Looks sweet...definitely cooler than the phone sitting there with a cord hanging out of it. I might order one...?

Yeah thats what i am waiting for, I like the clean look of having a dock rather than just sitting on my desk with loose wires..
this might be old news, but I purchased one these from the AndroidAndMe site. Still says they are in stock.

Dock won't likely fit. battery, if it's the same size as the stock battery, will fit.

2600mAh Replacement Battery Opened

Opened up one of these batteries you can find on ebay and Amazon for anywhere between 3 to 6 pounds. I can't remember the exact weight but it was lighter than my stock battery by 15-25%. It's performance was worse than stock by quite a long way (I can usually last 2 days but even after running this battery a couple cycles, I still couldn't last a day on it 0800-1500).

Frame displaced. Holding the plastic spacer which is normally at the bottom. Note also, foam filler on side.

Strange writing. Chaonian, Samsung I9000 and 983. Strange because I9000 is the code for the Samsung Galaxy S.
Overall, this is an all-right battery if you are going to pay only a couple pounds for an emergency battery to keep in a car or wallet (or other hostile environment where you don't care about the health of the battery). It is safe and wont explode.
If you want a proper replacement, go for an Anker (usually only £10) or some of the gold batteries.
Gold battery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1575001
Anker: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525175
I have i9000 one for captivate and though it's not actually 2430mah it's at least 1800mah. Maybe 2000mah, but probably not. So for $8, few day shipping, and external charger it was definitely nice

Confirmed cases or bumpers that fit the wireless charging door?

I've read the thread about modding a case to fit, but haven't seen any post about stock cases that fit. Does anyone have a case or bumper that fits a GS3 with the Verizon wireless charging battery door?

Fortunately, you can retrofit the piece onto the original cover:

Yes this is the thread I referenced in my original post. Have you actually transferred the wireless components into your original case? No one in that thread has confirmed that it's possible. You would think that the charging door is thicker for a reason.

It's not possible...the Qi component is pretty thick, hence the larger battery door.
I'm returning/selling the components and doing the Palm hack because I hate not having a case on my phone

The door is only sold via Verizon Corporate stores currently, but you can find the charging on Amazon

Looks like you'd need something like this: http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/...ductive-wireless-charging-receiver-patch-for-
And then you'd also need a soldering iron, solder, some electrical wires (probably stranded for flexibility), and a pair of scissors. The rest seems relatively self-explanatory to me.
Laza extended battery qi mod
If anyone wants to add qi supporrt and has the laza extended battery here is how i did it.
1. Burn hole in back of case for the qi contacts to poke through.
2. Tape qi receiver to back of inner case.
3. Solder wire to qi contacts on inside of case.
4. Solder wire to qi contacts on phone.
The hardest part was making the hole in the case. Soldering the wire to the phone was easy, but I have a temperature controlled iron. I wouldnt recommend attempting this with a 5$ radioshack firestick.

Wireless caharging frequently interrupted when using Wireless Charging Receiver Card

When using one of these Wireless Charging Receiver Cards, Galaxy S4 only wirelessly charges uninterrupted when taken out of the case,
Otherwise the wireless charging turns on/off repeatedly. This happens even if the phone case has a hollow back.
Can you post what your experience was with wirelessly charging Galaxy S4?
If I'm understanding correctly, it seems as if the extra distance between the charging pad and the receiver when the case is on is probably causing the issue. Technically, it should be able to transmit power over a distance of around 4cm (~1.5 inches),but only in perfect conditions. Ideally, you want them as close together as possible, so a case is probably not the best idea. You might just have to weigh the pros and cons of having the protection of a case versus no cable charging. I use the official wireless charging S-View flip cover with THIS 3-coil charger and haven't had any issues yet.
Thank you for posting.
Interestingly, even a hollow bumper case like this:

causes the same problem as the original Samsung plastic protective case - wireless charging gets constantly interrupted.
So *only* when case is removed does the wireless charging continue uninterrupted.
I sure would like to know what the culprit is. The receiver strip, or the case or the original Samsung charger?
I'm using this receiver that I got from Amazon, and I'm able to charge fine, even with a case on. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GCXRU8O/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm currently using a gel case, but I also had a hard rubber case that snapped on, and that worked fine as well. My wireless charger is a no name cheap brand I also got from Amazon.
