So as the title states, each time I send a screenshot by MMS, it always turns out blurry. Is it due to the .png format or the MMS compression? And is there a way to change the screenshot's format to jpg if it is due to the picture format?
FYI, I'm running RasbeanJelly 4.2.2 using an aokp themed MMS.apk on a GSM Galaxy Nexus

1- .PNG compression or MMS: you can answer this one with the second answer as well;
2- is there a way to convert JPEG/JPG to PNG: ... Of course, Google it. https://www.google.pt/search?q=png+...chrome-mobile&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8
3- you're running a ROM X, and a conponent from ROM Y; have you tried using just the ROM X and trying to reproduce the issue?
So, the MMS gets blurry when the destination tries to view it, or on your MMS.apk view?

Thanks for the reply, the screenshot is blurry on my MMS.apk view (now using the one that comes with the rom) and on the destination as well (iphone5 user). When I send a regular picture in jpg format (not a screenshot), it turns out well on both sides. I converted a screenshot to jpg and sent it and it still turned out blurry. So for now, I have noted that only screenshots are being blurry (png and jpg). I have attached both screenshots, the original screenshot and the converted one.

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone using Handcent/Go SMS has their MMS pictures turn upside down or sideways? Wondering if this is a common issue.
It looks like it only sends upside down when the picture is taken with the camera button on the left in landscape mode, and turns sideways when the picture is in portrait.
Any way around this?
I have the same problem!! Not cool at all. Hope soemeone will help us out
It seems to be a problem related to samsung phone. I have this temporary fix for you. Before sending the desired pictures you have to go in gallery select the picture and crop it and save it you're picture wont turn sideways. Quite annoying to do but at least it works.
I've read up on it before and it's supposedly because of the 'metadata' standard which they (SAMSUNG) use. Never supposed to use your camera in portrait mode supposedly...
Even though; how come none of the SMS apps let you rotate a picture in-app? Very amateur stuff.
I have this problem with galaxy s2 but my samsung corny pro was fine. What annoyed me abouth this phone too is that you can t set different sms tone for you're contact and was able to do so with my older corny pro
I`m having this issue on my Skyrocket any way to fix this, I love go sms pro, but cant live with this upside down pictures
same here
Mate of mine and I are having the exact same issue, pics taken in portrait are displaying in landscape (although my landscape tests so far seem to be displaying properly).
My mate and I have the same setup, as follows:
SGSII i9100
ROM: FoxHound GreyFox v2 - XWLP9 (ICS 4.0.3)
Kernel: Siyah v3.2.5.1+
Modem: XXLPB
Go SMS Pro is the SMS/MMS app.
Also, just for reference, when I test this process (adding a pic to an SMS) using the default android messaging app it always attaches correctly...
As a side note, I've also noticed that when you open the normal image gallery, the thumbnail is showing the photo in landscape but when you click on the thumbnail to open it it opens correctly in portrait, so I'm guessing, as suggested above, that it's not specific to the messaging app but something to do with the storage of the image.
Anyone got any further details/info on this and how to resolve it?
Have this same issue on GoSMS Pro. Anyone find a fix for it?
I would like to edit my empty place holder image that shows up in Contacts and MMS when there is no picture.
I would also like to find the one for the picture of the person that shows up during a call.
I am running inverted People/MMS/Gmail apps that this just ruins the look.
Can someone point me at the images so I can pull it and photo-shop it darker and replace it?
Thanks
Try these locations...
/system/framework/framework.jar
/system/framework/framework-res.jar
Might want to try exploring the people Apk as well
Hope this helps

Thanks I will.
Does anyone know how to change the default contact/caller ID photo for the Galaxy Nexus? I hate the new weird face they have. I'm talking about the image that is present when the contact doesn't have a picture assigned. It also shows up on the Caller ID for anyone that's not in your phonebook, or in the phonebook without a pic.
I'd prefer the little android robot.
Any ideas? Help would be much appreciated.
i think theres a thread in the theme section that has images metamorph zips
i forget what its called but try typing in something like "andy's back contact picture"
good luck
The image is in Contacts.apk. You can just replace it with what you want.

where would I find contacts.apk? Also can I change the default picture without screwing up my phone?
I found some cool wallpapers. How can I copy these wallpaer to my Galaxy Nexus? What is the location of wallpapers and is there any special method of transfer? I will appreciate your help.
Just put them on your phone somewhere using USB then open them in the gallery and use the menu to set them as wallpaper.

Thanks fro your advice but the problem is that you have to crop the image when you try use any image from gallery. I was looking for the path or location of wallpapers on the phone so that I just copy jpeg files.
I downloaed new galaxy s3 wallpapers and wanted to use them.
I think if you download "QuickPic" from the market...
Long press your homescreen and select wallpaper>quickpic you can drag the sliders to the full image.
Jubakuba, thanks. Quickpic did the job.

The "cropping" in the Gallery doesn't actually downsize it if you go to the full size, it just shows what you'll actually see when taking away the top/bottom bars.
I am running 4.1.1 Jb. I installed new camera and gallery from 4.1.2. I erased old gallery since the new one works fine. But now when I go to MMS and hit attach icon, the new gallery is not on the list to choose from, and the old one isn't there cause I deleted it. I have to got to gallery and Share now, but I want the option to do it in MMS! Any way I can set what programs I can choose from when I hit attach in mms. I tried clearing and I don't want to change roms.

So wait.. you deleted the stock galery? It's needed for quite a few apps.. I would get it back if I were you.
I'm usin, the 4.1.2 gallery fine. I just lost the option to attach in mms. Every other function is fine. When I click attach (paperclip) icon isn't there. But it's there in Gmail.

Oh, completely missunderstood that.
Using the stock messaging app? If so, top right corner, there should be a attach option which brings up a pop up with these options: Pictures, Capture picture, videos, capture videos, etc..
If you're using another messaging app, then Idk
