I got my fancy new sgs2 e4gt and immediately tried to flash cyanogenmod. Unfortunately, I didn't pay close enough attention to model numbers and ended up flashing the wrong kernel. Upon reboot, I could only get as far as the splash screen which now had the yellow triangle on it.
While trying to fix it, I still failed to watch the model numbers and ended up flashing another wrong kernel again. It was a bad day for me. This resulted in breaking the micro usb port. Nothing will recognize the phone anymore.
I apologize, but I don't remember which kernels they were. I did this back in December.
Furthermore, I can only get to two screens. The first is a screen that says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." The other is the Odin download screen. I can't get into recovery or anything.
I've tried a variety of things (including a USB jig) but without USB and recovery I can't do too much. I'm thinking I might have to try JTag, but I wanted to see if anyone has any other ideas before I go there. Any thoughts?
Your not bricked, you just don't know how to read.
I suggest reading the development section of the Epic 4G Touch and then read some more.
Btw... wrong section, this is a question.

Welcome to xda-developers forum, marcsimusMaximus! This is a great forum with great, helpful people (and amazing developers), but sometimes people seem a bit cranky, immature, and so bored with their lives that they have to clutter threads with a bunch of nattering nonsense. As was previously stated, you do need to read the forum rules and post correctly, as well as pay more attention to the wealth of information already posted regarding flashing and avoiding various pitfalls.
Good luck!

I ran backup/reflash/reboot/restore from backup. I have flashed using all but mobodin, in every way its possible and have had nothing adverse happen. Good luck with sprint.

Well, I cannot believe it. After reading the post about the guy bricking wiping CACHE I did it just to take the same plunge. I wiped everything last night numerous time, data, cache, dalvic, factory reset etc. But, when I just did it I bricked too.Bummer too cuz the USB hack was sweet and we were asked not to use Rogues recovery...Team Troll just can't get a break. Over the next few days I'm gonna build the recovery from source and once I get a new device I'll be able to test it. In the meantime anyone who adopted this kernel/recovery switch back to Rogues ASAP and don't wipe anything with the recovery. Use ODIN/HEIMDALL to flash, full reboot to clear the recovery from the system, them reboot to new recovery for flashing needs. If I was a cussing man, I'd be doing it now.
HAHAHAH Yes I finally got an official OTA update for my Epic 4G touch about 14 minutes ago. I received ICS 4.04 It's amazing ! view screen shots attached...
Its no BS and I know everyone has been waiting for this for a really really long time but now we finally have it! So far I like ICS it seems really smooth and it official so hells yea!

Yes, a few people have already gotten it in the ICS update thread. I myself decided to manually update it through qbking77's guide for my father. Playing around with it a bit, nothing new, since I've been running The Blu Kuban for a while now, but my dad's ecstatic. Btw, if you want the stock ICS feel, use Sprint ID and choose the original.

Because vía SprintID it's just a 2-3 Taps away (faster) and clearing TW case take extra unnecessary steps. 10-11 taps plus some long scrolls.

That probably wouldn't be all that hard to put together.
I honestly have no idea what modem works the best in my part of Pittsburgh, but that is only because the tower by my house has known capacity issues. Apparantly Sprint knows about it and is going to fix it soon.
If i ever get speeds faster than my old dialup modem from the late 90s, I might be able to put something together. I am looking for a job at the moment and only have Internet on my phone for now to save money.

Thanks, its cool to be able to do that kind of work an still be mentally capable to handle technical skills.
My brother in-law is fire. People never realize the whole effects of what you chance and do. You may live in the middle of nowhere, but every day your life is on the line for others.
An just my opinion, you do what you want with a rom. Your posting and "sharing" your work. Your fire/emt, not a developer. This is for fun. Your sharing something you wanted to today. If tomorrow you never touch it again, that's more than most here have ever done.
Sorry to rant, it pissed me off to see someone say crappy things about a rom you posted saying things didnt work...wtf ever, you want it working fix it yourself...
You want to help, pick up a book...read a website, do something except suck the life out of ppl..

Yeah man when someone posts crap that doesn't work you should just love it anyways and tell your boss and your customers that can't call you to back off because some dude on xda posted some rom and not complaining is way more imortant than not working.

Or maybe, I don't know, find something that works and quit being a greedy, selfish, spoiled child. The ROMs are free none of us get paid to do this sh!t, we do it in our free time instead of spending it with family or doing something else we'd like to do. This entitlement mentality is getting retarded, you want it working the YOU spend YOUR time fixing it instead of wasting that time whining like a little ballerina whose tutu is wedged up her ass FFS contribute and be useful instead of spending all your time being a whiny f_ck_ng leech.
I like to break stuff!
Who said anything about entitled? My point was just that users aren't the only ones being whiny babies here.
As it happens, since you bring it up, I HAVE spent countless hours over the years helping countless people in public tech forums (going back to before the internet) for free in several other venues that just don't happen to be Android. And I never felt the need to tell a user to shut up and like whatever crap I happened to grace him with. Partly because I spent the time to make sure it wasn't crap but hey that's just me the asshole.
Then there are also things I've made, and released for free, that are incomplete in some way, and guess what? I know it's incomplete and all I'd ever say about that is yeah you're right that could be a lot better but I'm just one guy and I'm not really very good in that language and that platform and that's probably about as far as I'm going to manage, sorry. Not "shut up and be grateful!"

back on topic. I flashed all three from MA5. No issues. Wiped divack, cache and system. It keep all my apps and settings. It did add all the crap I didn't like though.
Perseus Alpha 34 (jan 31) works fine thus far. I was able to use MA5 4-1 power menu and mutliwindow app mods. They appear to be working. I was able to use the multipwindow and reboot into recovery.
I'm not saying it's all working. Nothing has come up yet within the couple hours I have had it loaded.
Hi guys, I'm new here and have a question. I am on a Sprint note 2 with stock MA7 odedex and i would like to start flashing roms mainly Jellybomb from Josh Beach. Can I just flash the stock deodexed rom over my stock odexed rom? Is their a better/easier method to change my rom from odexed to deodexed? Also if I can flash over my rom do I need to flash the rom, modem, and the kernel or just the all in one?
And last of allcan some one post instructions on how to do this?
Thanks in advance for any help in schooling me.
P.S. I am rooted with trwp recovery.
Andre

I got there and turned it on whent to download mode no problem. I get home hook it up to my pc put it in download mode and nothing, odin doesnt recognized it at all. My pc didnt make a sound. Then I tried with keys the emergency recovery tool. But nothing. Well its asking for recovery code. But my device not registered, cannot get to recovery mode eather. I looked and when the phone is in download mode, it sais, i900 modle, but its a d710 . Did someone flash the wrong stuff .. I don't really mind the loos. I knew it was a good possibility. I normally try to help people who are dealing with a subject they know nothing about and they ask for a little guidance. After all, it only took me 3 seconds to look it up. What goes around comes around.

Same 3 seconds it would have taken the OP to look it up, instead of spending 5 minutes starting a new thread about something that has been covered extensively over the last year and a half.
