I'm not really feeling the stock Samsung keyboard and I've been searching for a successful port of the HTC/Sense keyboard for the S3 with no luck.
It seems as if I'll have to find a comparable or better replacement. Any suggestions?
(BTW, my phone is rooted so there are no issues with flashing anything.)
Try SwiftKey 3! That's epic keyboard with best word reach speed.
It's radicolous in GPlay and probably best keyboard with international support.

+1 here too...
Another +1 for SwiftKey3. I switched over to it about six months ago and haven't even thought about looking for another one.
Tried a bunch, keep coming back to swiftkey
I downloaded original stock ICS keyboard works the best no problems
There's something wrong with swiftkey 3 for me.
I could start typing a sentence and it would end up looking like this : The quick brown fox jumped over the fefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefe.
And once I'm in that lock, pressing backspace will just add more. Doesn't happen often but it's annoying.

SwiftKey is the choice for me, using it for a few months and I really can't see myself using anther, I can type super sloppy and still write perfectly.
I can sometimes type without even looking, for short texts or things like that

+1 on SwiftKey
Hey guys,
SwiftKey seems to be somewhat proactive about the "features" they pursue. There are two features that would make SwiftKey killer, don't troll me with "stock keyboard", IMO it's terrible and an afterthought:
Number Row (toggleable?): http://support.swiftkey.net/forums/...uggestions/2220958-number-row-optional-5-row-
Condensed keyboard (for one-handed operation,): http://support.swiftkey.net/forums/...ensed-mode-for-one-handed-operation-slide-all
Hit the links and submit your votes!
A dedicated number row is the only reason I'm still using the Samsung keyboard. I prefer Swype, but I think I bought Swiftkey, so I'll definitely check out that first link.

I too prefer Swype, but I think SwiftKey is more pro-active with customer support and whatnot. I switched to SwiftKey b/c with the Note II's size, I found myself "pecking" away with my thumbs more often and it seems to perform better.
Anyways, just trying to manage-up and get the keyboard I really want
Thanks!
Ya the only reason im on stock is there was no number key
Sent from my SGH-I317 using xda premium
I actually vastly prefer the way Swiftkey handles numbers. It's much easier, and quicker, for me to type numbers when they're in the same layout as everything else: phone, right side of the keyboard, calculator, etc. A row of numbers, like the stock keyboard, is frustrating IMO.
I've tried them all. SwiftKey is the best IMO - shortcomings or not.
You can't beat their predictions.
Just wish SwiftKey Tablet had arrows like standard SwiftKey.

I wish I could say that, I'm just saying that we've definitely made a big dent in voting up these ideas, 50% increase on on and 33% increase on the other, if we can keep it up, I'm sure they will see the value of implementing these functions, especially since larger devices are going to become more mainstream.
Absolutely men I with SwiftKey I write like 3 times faster and in two languages really is amazing

I would love the hell out if this keyboard if it had proper auto correct
SwiftKey plus a number row would be a good substitute. Although the keypad sounds for SwiftKey are downright grating compared to stock.

No clue. I don't have the phone in my hand and probably never will. I asked her if her Note manually updated to the new market and she sent that screencap. Now I feel like all our convos may have been recorded. When I asked what is the icon I got an idk and a really bad attitude.

That's weird! It would appear to be some kind of audio recording app, either call recording or like a note recording app like you'd record an in person convo with. It's definitely something using the microphone(s) :sly:

That's a $10 app with all kinds of voice enhancement and isolation tricks. It can apparently record only one side of the conversation if you want it too. I'm not certain that that's what that icon is for but it is suspiciously similar and the only sceeen shot I could find of the icon in the notification looks the same only orange because it was actively recording. The app is on the play store it's just called "Call Recording" and has that green icon for it's app icon, it's $9.95 and about the 7th app down the page when I searched "android call recording" on the play store. :sly:

It's definitely some kind of recording app. And yes probably most likely a call recording app of some sort that holds the notification there so its always ready when a call comes in.

Looks a little like Utter! One of those voice command apps
it's the total recorder app. when you have it on manual recording, the microphone will be in the notification bar. you can just uncheck the manual recording box in setting and it will go away.

No need to flash them. Edit the build.prop line for hardware keys from 1 to 0 and it will appear on reboot.

Yeah. The hardware keys won't disable it just activates the nav bar as well. To disable Hardware keys you have to comment them out in sec keylayout in the system. I personally use LMT over the nav bar tho since it only shows when you want it too, is fully customizable and doesn't eat up your screen real estate.

It's only seen when a keyboard is on screen. Not an issue for me. Like mentioned before, you can just flash a rom with it disabled, but I like having up top when my keyboard is shown. Very convenient when using the Sixaxis app!

Tweakbox for the xposed framework has an option to disable it. I use tasker to switch keyboards based on app.
On August 29th at 02:14 my Note2 will become self-aware.
There are lots of things I hate but that option is not one of them.. That tiny little notification in the notification bar is barely noticeable
