hey guys is it normal that our W heats up to about i think 45-50 degrees while charging.. sometimes it heats up too when using the internet via reverse tethering.. just wanna know if its normal, and some advices to prevent it would be awesome.
With Black Notes Hybrid 2nd Gen
Its happening to me aswell getting really hot.
I recently flashed to BlackNotes Rom and when i was charging it overnight for the first time, when i woke up i picked up my phone i immediatly dropped it.
i checked on set cpu the speed was min122 max 1401 ondemand.
ALSO i checked the temp it WAS 60c literally i swear phones should never go over 50c.On stock rom the highest i was every on was 45c playing games.
From then my phone always gets hot with 1401mhz. i dont know why.
With normal use average temp 31c-35c it used to be 27c stock ROM.
I think i sholud get a new battery because 60c is rediculous that could explode it and i thought li-ion batterys have fail safe or something like that for 50c???
EDIT: setCpu 122min 768max and my battery is still 36c im not playing any games im just on homescreen.

WOW. WOW. 60c is too far hot! and yes your phone and motherboard can be burned! When I using BN chapter 2, and when playing games (1401 mhz) the temperature never above 42c, and then I limit the cpu, it will automatically set the cpu speed 245-368 with powersave governor, and screenoff with the same configuration. so when idle, my phone never above 25c (im using arco CM9 now). and I suggesting you to buy a new battery
my phone heat up too,but about 40C only
I've been on the Bionic cow rom for the last few days with data enabled, anyway went to send 4 1.1mb pictures to another email address today and as well as taking around 10-15 mins (2G) it got really got like through my trousers it was making my leg quite hot but never seem'd to get that on original rom
Jamie.
just an addition to my post. i live in the philippines where the temperature is getting really hot this few days. i tried to charge my phone on the office where its about a bit cold and the phone never heated up. are you guys from a cold place and still heats up? if thats the case then my problem is just normal.
maybe you can try download cpu spy from play store and check your cpu time in state. now i'm using bionic cow rom with xxlm8 kernel, the cpu time in state is always 1401 mhz. it's fast but create heat when playing games n surfing!!! i've attach my device screen shot as reference.

sure ill try that app.. my phone heats up too now when im surving using droidvpn.
i found an app that displays the current temperature but only for the battery, i dunno if only the battery heats up and not the phone.. the attached screenshot was the normal temperature of my phone, ill try to upload another once i got time for hard gaming or browsing that can heat up the phone, maybe on weekend.
My phone usually goes up till 4OC. But thats when I use data network and watching movies on the web at the same time. When charging my phone heats up to 35C. Other than that I cant think of any other ways how my phone heats up. But will let you guys know when something comes up.

does your phone heats up while your using it? or just on charging? mine only heats up while charging so i only charge on the office to maintain the temperature, its better to charge on cold places, however if your phone heats up while you are using it then maybe its because of some tweaking that you've done to your phone thats makes it use too much CPU that causes the heat.
normally i play some hd games mostly bcz of games my phones heat up.does it happen to anyone too while playing games phone heat up.if i overclock my cpu and reduce the frequency @ 1.2 or 1.0 mhz i think then my phone heat less

i also play HD games and watch movies, but my phone only heats up when im using reverse tethering(means i use internet on my phone via usb from PC internet) and i think it will really cause heat because of internet and the same time charging while connected in the USB, maybe you made some more adjustments that made your phone heat easily. but if you play for hours then its normal, just for me don't play that much long or less your internal chips will melt.
Hi all , i'm using aokp rom and lean kernel on my galaxy nexus.I have a problem : my phone is very hot. When i use wifi to check facebook and surf web , i feel my phone is hot in around camera and i use android tuner to check temperature of phone's cpu and battery . My cpu reaches 46-52 degree C and batter reaches 37-41degree C. When i use 3g cpu reaches 60-65 degree C and battery reaches 45 degree C . Is it ok or not ? If not , what solution for it ? Thanks for reading . Sorry for my bad English
Those temps are fine. Your CPU won't throttle until at least 68°C, and it can handle well over that without sustaining damage.

My anecdotal experience shows that performance becomes terrible when my CPU gets over 60C. Even if it is not thottling, getting that hot is making my phone no fun to use.
Hi,
When I use from my phone and run game (not high end) ,back of my phone getting very hot and burning my hand.
life time battery without play gaming and just send several sms and little talking is one day also i installed power saver app.
What can i do about it? battery is corrupted? or is other problem?
please help, i buying this phone 20 days before.
thank you
I was having the same issues when I first got my G Pro... I called LG tech support and they Had me do a soft reset....
Pull out the battery with the phone on.
Leave the battery out for 5 minutes.
Replace the battery, and turn in G Pro..
Solved my hot battery problem....
The main culprit is the ondemand governor that kicks up the CPU frequencies to max (1.7GHz) with just the slightest touch. Doesn't matter what kind of games you play, it's still stressing the CPU. Since we don't have any stable / feature rich kernels providing the better governors, interactive is the best bet to reduce heat and save battery life while not making a noticeable hit on performance. Only noticed a 2 fps drop when doing the benchmark on Epic Citadel with it on the highest quality. Still nice and smooth!

Hello xda,
I have been having the erratic battery behavior for a long time [i have the tablet for 3 years now].
I have sent it for maintenance on warranty and they changed my battery but no use!
The erratic behavior occur mainly while playing games i.e gpu workload....
But there was no kernel that allowed me to undervolt the gpu untill now
I flashed lineageOS with the tool deathly auditor and set the maximum gpu freq. To 420 mhz
The problem was alleviated but not completely resolved.
I also used battery HD app to monitor battery percentage and battery volatge during playing games and what i found is interesting.....
The battery suffers sudden sever voltage drops while playing gpu intensive games
This was alleviated by undervolting and decreasing maximum gpu freq.
I hope this helps someone regards.
Rydj
I also forgot to mention that i soldered the battery directly to the board but that didnt help either
As it was thought that the erratic battery behavior was due to cracked soldered joints of the battery connector.
BUT I CAN CONFIRM IT STOPPED SHUTTING DOWN AFTER I SLAM THE BACK COVER!!

Thanks for sharing
I also have the same problem.
I gave the note to my son and got myself a tab-s2, he is not so happy with the battery.
If he plays non intensive graphic games battery lasts hours, but a bit of graphic and its dead in an hour.
Can you please share your undervolt and max gpu numbers?
Do I need to undervolt and change cpu governer too ?
Are you on Nougat?
OP says:
GPU Control:
GPU Time in States - Same as CPU Time in States (Times in each frequency)
GPU Frequency Control (not yet supported on Nougat)
GPU Voltage Control (not yet supported on Nougat)
GPU Governor Control (not yet supported on Nougat)

I've been using this phone for quite a while now and have been loving it on OneUI 5.1. But the one issue I have and can't seem to chase away is the awful heating issues. My phone heats up to 40C for CPU and 35C for battery even while using the least intensive applications such as reddit, Whatsapp, Youtube and even Telegram or during light multitasking and up to 45C for CPU and 39C for battery while gaming. The heat gets so bad that it's very noticeable on the surface of the phone and is a massive inconvenience most of the time. Does anyone know if this is normal? Do I need to take it to a service center?
Note: (These temps were measured using CPU monitor and AIDA64).

I don't think that's normal, but when I updated to OneUI 5.1 my temps did go up. I didn't measure them, but I sure did feel them.
What you could do is download Good Guardians and install Thermal Guardian, then slide the temp -2°C (left). Also, don't keep GPS enabled or nearby scan if you aren't using them, and try selecting the Standard option in Game Optimization from Game Booster app.
Debloating also helps, especially uninstalling Facebook (and its apps) and Bixby (if you don't use it).
Clearing the system cache and repairing apps may help too. I hope these tips will be helpful for you.
