i have the s3 for sprint, i had the lattest version of jellybean on the phone before i tried rooting it tonight, the file i used in odin was CF rootSGS3, and i used odin 3

Do you have the Galaxy S3 toolkit? V7 I think it is. When you open it and choose Sprint s3 4.1.1 it'll download the resources it needs. But first and foremost, to me it sounds like you need to find the stock .tar file and its here somewhere (search for it). If you've already tried returning to stock which .tar file did you use? And can you get your phone in download mode or is it stuck in that recovery? Can you get it in stock recovery by booting up while holding Volume up-power-home key? Hold all three at the same time when powering it on.

One more thing, did you use Odin while you were in download mode or while the phone was booted up?

Personally I would download the correct .tar file and restore with Odin. Click the PDA button and find the .tar file and then try to put your phone in download mode, if that doesn't work you can try using Odin on the firmware upgrade screen. But the BIG thing is using the correct file for the Sprint Galaxy s3.

i can get it to the point where i can download the firmware by pressing the volume up key with the home button and the power button. im downlading the toolkit now. and i cant seem to find a stock .tar im new to the whole rooting thing so i really dont know where to start...
thanks

i was in the screen where it says downloading and it tells you how many custom binary downloads there are

Well in the toolkit there's an option to 'download and flash stock ROM' that might do it since you can get to download mode. Make sure you choose 'Sprint' and '4.1.1' in the toolkit. It'll shower EVERY GS3 made. Lol. Its easy to use with the instructions walking you through the steps.

What it'll do is open Odin and automatically start the process by itself. The toolkit is very useful for rooting, flashing a recovery, returning to stock, etc. Some people hate the toolkit but I've personally never had a bad experience with it. Just make sure you're choosing the correct model inside the toolkit. Lol

That's the correct screen, I think volume up let's you flash something and volume down reboots the phone (or vice versa)

The first place you start is with reading, reading, reading, then reading some more and when you think you understand it, read it all again. Jumping into modifying your $600 phone not knowing what the hell you're doing is a good way to flush $600 down the toilet.

i clicked the tar link. but i got the phone working to the point where i can actually use it(text, web, call, games) but there are a few problems. i believe the phone has the wrong os on it because it wants me to insert a sim card which is a problem because i have sprint, sprint doesn't use sim cards. i can still use mobile networks however. also it keeps wanting to install a software update which i allowed twice and still got the same update notification. im assuming the os i have is for verizon or at&t??? im going to try another system i guess. where could i find a rooted system file for sprint Galaxy S3? i kinda dont want to mess up again.
thanks alot for your help guys. you saved my phone.

Go to your about section and screen shot it and upload it on here.... Screen shot is home +power for 1-3 seconds

[Q] GSM Galaxy nexus Bricked -REWARD

I know i have another thread but its changed. My galaxy nexus is gsm and my brother accidentally flashed verizon stock on it. Now my nexus can only go in download mode and fastboot mode. I have tried flashing stock using odin and fastboot however it goes back to the google logo and just stays till it dies. I also cant access recovery mode because it goes to the google logo. 30 dollars reward thanks
Boot to the bootloader (Fastboot/Download) and give us the information on the bottom. Also give us the link to whatever you're trying to flash. I'll dig up the return-to-stock thread and see if I can't walk you through it. Gotta save that Nexus!
Also it'd be easier if you got on IRC. You can find a lot of us (including me) on irc.freenode.net in the channel #gn so stop on by!
Here's a link if you've never been there: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=gn&uio=d4
Wug's Toolkit???
have you tried Wug's Toolkit???
I've bricked mine for the same reason for flashing a GSM rom alpha state on a LTE Nexus.
All I had to do was hit the restore button. And it was fixed in ten minutes. I was able to save my data thanks to dropbox. Cuz I just so happened to back up my data there a lot by saving my recovery back ups
But your case is different. Use wug's toolkit and ATTEMPT to save your data by using the backup feature. MAYBE u can still recover your apps. Maybe you broke your CWMR and damaged the system.res or something. So just flash stock+Unroot. As long as you can fast boot I think you can fix it like me.
Give it a try if you have not done this yet. And let me know how it out. =p
Hope it works for u just as well as it did for me.

could you gimmie alink for that toolkit
Unbrickable
Also you can't truly brick a Nexus device. ESPECIALLY a GSM variant.
So you can fix this. I'll try to find another way just in case this way fails. but also there is a tool on the right side of the panel do the Wug's Toolkit panel. Never actually used them, but maybe it can make your phone work again without even having to flash stock+Unroot.
But again I'll try to find a another method of how this can be fixed. Hopefully someone has a tool to fix this.

Since I just registered and all but don't worry I'm experienced with this stuff.
Just type Wug's toolkit v1.3 Galaxy Nexus and it should be on Android Central
. Hope this saves ur $400-$600 google device. =p
Know how u feel on this.
---------- Post added at 05:57 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:25 AM ----------
This should work because I just read the website and it says that if you flash stock+unroot it should unbrick your device. And maybe an OEM lock is required but your a GSM variant so I dunno since u came out of the factory unlocked.
If you were to fix your Nexus Device u don't have to do your $30 reward.
1. I'm 16. =p
2. Don't have a way of receiving money except by mail, which is a big hassle of nonsense.

Good thing it seems like the architecture of the US GS3s is similar enough that flashing another carrier's ROM won't result in a nice hard brick that requires JTAG/warranty fix.

You definitely cannot use the same root for Epic 4g touch as Galaxy S2, they have 2 different kernels. Can you get into download mode? Take battery out, put back in, and hold down power button and down button at same time. If you can get it into download mode, you can find the correct rootkit and redo.

You do have the Epic 4g Touch. Sprint just decided to play long with the renaming since this phone is going out to multiple carriers now.
HOPEFULLY you did NOT flash the international kernel on your phone, it's still functional and you can still get into download mode.
If you can, then you need to flash a complete odin one click and get back to "normal"..

So I downloaded the GlamourS4 ROM. I did a backup through ROM manager. I booted into recovery, did a data wipe and wiped cache. No I can't get into download mode at all. Can't get it to come on period. I've flashed plenty of custom Roms over the years and I can't friggin believe I didn't check to see what versions this ROM works on. I want to crawl into a dark hole somewhere lol
Probably have to send it off to get it jtagged.
Yes, JTAG is your only option. I don't see that rom here in the Sprint forums.
And it has nothing to do with what "versions" that rom works on. ROMs made for the international bewitch will do nothing but brick or carrier phones. No matter what.
Here it is View attachment 2061984 definitely for the International S3. The phone is bricked I'm sorry to be the third to confirm. Jtag is the only repair option.

However, I saw a few forum posts stating that SlimBean worked for them. Might as well try it, nothing to lose at this point.

I am not sure who but somebody from this forums sent me this file com.android.vending-423.apk. Who ever it was thank I am sure you were trying to help. However I don't know what to do with it. I cant nothing shows on my screen to download a converter off playstore so it hasn't helped but thanks anyway. if somebody could convert it for me I would be grateful. if in fact it is meant for my phone.
That's an apk for the playstore, click it and it installs. It will do absolutely nothing to fix your brick.
