z4root full root

this works for me can't promise that it would work for anyone else....but if you use z4root and get temporary root you can then use rom manager to fully root your phone which will last after reboot and everything....

z4root gives you temporary root and Rom manager lets you flash a custom recovery/roms.
I don't see how a combination of the two would or could give you a NAND Unlock.

He is correct... s-off / nand unlock is necessary for full root.. the evo is easy to root anyways....

all i know is that i have done it twice and everything works including backing up or restoring

Thanks for this. I've had evo since launch, and it was easy to root 2.1, but am terrified if i need a freeplacement.
I'm sure ill try this first.

Typically you don't have to worry about it for a freeplacement, If you root it all you have to do is flash a stock RUU and everything will go back to orignial. I had to take my wifes for repaired yesterday due to the flash quit working. I just installed a stock RUU from sprint. Had it fixed, went home re-rooted and restored with nandroid and you would never know.

Just use unrevoked. Its super easy to fully root your phone.

worked for me on a friends htc hero. The download I used though gave my computer a virus and was caught by windows defender after the fact so be carefull were you download it from.

but the thing you will be missing is the ability to do a NANDbackup! Among other things that full root gives you.

[HOWTO] Root Android 4.3 on samsung galaxy nexus

This rooting technique Finally worked you will need three files
1) SDK TOOLS from
2) recovery.img from
3)MRKREHANROOT from
you should have unlock boot loaders USB drivers installed and should be on android 4.3
copy mrkrehanrehanroot3.1.zip in sdcard
be in fastboot mode ie switch off your device and hold both volume up and down and power button together and keep your device connected to PC
Extract the sdktools and place the revovery.img in that folder
then with one finger on shift key right click in an empty space in the folder and select open command window here
then type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
it will flash recovery to your device
in recovery no need wipe anything install the zip mrkrehanroot3.1.zip
and reboot
download any app that requires root access and check for example root explorer
it should ask root acess
in this way you have rooted your device

I installed the factory image wasn't able to get it to root with mskip'stool soo I gave this a try worked like a champ -Thank you kind sir :laugh:

Not to diss this method of root, but Chainfire's root method works perfectly fine.

I use that method, cannot restore any app with TB or install Busybox, for some reason it's root but not completely.

This thread shouldn't be in dev section, and there were bunch of root method threads/posts that could be easily found.

Read description:
Titanium Backup is an example of such an app. It may incorrectly detect the path to your internal storage for backups, and thus crash on backup/restore. You can fix this by going into preferences and selecting a folder under /storage/emulated/legacy as backup/restore path, not under /storage/emulated/0.

OK bro if you say I did thank to u but if u had it you should have shared it first and should have had a guide of it and u should have shared I did it because I spent my whole night flashing recovery and finding proper ways to root it finally did it when I found the file so I flashed the recovery the mini SDK tool they are mine but I did not know who to thank for the root so I just mirrored it but I put up a guide here so its not my fault I am sorry that I hurt the sentiments

and as u say buddy its mentions its for S4 and i was brave enough to check it out by editing some scripts and lines and flash it on my devices so i did not copy it fully but i did it on my own risk to check it on my devices and name it after me so if u have any problem with that so be it but i did it i am not chainfire but the day is not so long when i will be like him one day so kindly check it out

dude relaxy, if you get worked up everytime someone says that there is another way of doing what you are saying you wont get very far cuz honestly there are always multiple ways to stuff... however i do agree with you chainfire clearly said on g+ that the root method is specifically for the s4 leak.. anyway its upto the users they can either use your method or chainfires.. i will try your method once i flash 4.3 :good:

[Q] How to full root 4.2.2. on singlesim?

So, I flashed that dual sim firmware on my ss xperia m. Everything worked fine, and I tried to root with that cydia impactor method. Everything seemed to go well, until rootfixer step. So I run rootfixer, it seems to be going well, but after the reboot, when it tests did it worked, my phone reboots(so I guess it failed to full root). I get Error: Device not found in cmd, and that's about it. I tried it several times, but I did not managed to get full root with this method. So, are there any other methods to get full root on 4.2.2. ss?

Try again with the same method by cydia impactor. When you use root fixer your phone reboots? Mine does that aswell on 4.2.2 when i root. It boots up and then boots again. So keep the device attached to the computer while it boots for the second time and tell me if that helps

Ok, reinstall busybox and try again, use regular busybox by stericsson, not busybox x

[TEMP ROOT] Towelroot v3 temproot

In case you didn't see it, towelroot v3 was just released. It still does not support our device, but it does add the ability to temp root a device. Go to towelroot.com and click on the "fix your phone yourself" link.
Follow the instructions and use the string for temp root. Worked great for me. That being said, firewater s-off is now patched, and sunshine says it is incompatible with our rom/kernel. Hopefully jcase can update sunshine for us so we can obtain s-off.

I must be missing something because I can't get it to work. You just click the banner 3 times change the last 0 to a 1 and hit the button? It either says I have root and I use root checker and it says I don't, or it reboots which means towelroot failed

That was happening for me as well. I tried running weaksause after towelroot said it worked and it did the trick, maybe try that.

Basically full root will survive a reboot, where as temp root is lost on reboot and the device must be temp rooted again. You can at least still have some sort of root access with temp root rather than have to stay 100% stock.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong or want to go into more detail.

With a locked bootloader and s-on, the system and boot positions are write protected also. This means you can read system files, but not edit them. Good for titanium backups

I just tried that and it does not work for sense 6. Sucks that I had to send my phone in for repair and I took the latest update. Now I can't root. Really miss the Rom section.

You have to wait till one of the methods gets an upgrade

Well seeing as how the d851 boot loader is shipping unlocked from T-Mobile I think it would be pretty safe to say that once you manage to properly install the 10m OTA, you would simply flash TWRP from purpledrake in fastboot and from there flash supersu.

I used Stump root and mine is rooted again. I had to use the brute force root to get it done in Stump. After that I installed SuperU, TWRP and Busy Box.

Purpledrake probably replaced the M boot.img with the C boot.img. If it did that means your back on the C kernel and if it didn't you no longer have the modded disabled root checker.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you flash the TWRP? with TWRP manager from the Playstore? did you pick your phone trough the menu or did you downloaded the img. file ? I'm rooted with the new update but I want to flash TWRP, thanks
