[Q] Note 2 SCH-N719 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I stupidly now in hindsight bought a note 2 in china (dual gsm and cdma version) - sch-n719
It is rubbish as I cannot install google play - even when rooted, and there is no handwriting recognition!
Does anyone have any suggestions - can I try with a custom ROM for another version has anyone tried? I cant find any custom roms for that specific version.
Many Thanks for your help,
Oliver

Any thing would be helpful, I am considering that ebay is the only option. I am trying to put an R950 ROM on it to see if this will work. Otherwise i am stuck.

i am trying to either root or flash rom the SCH-N719 as well.
Did the OP have any luck? There does not seem to be much support for the N719.
PS: I tried the above link to the ROM, but get redirected to a forum, so I presume file not found.
Any help would be much appreciated.

[TIPS] ROOTING and FLASHING anything on P8000 WITHOUT PC

[TIPS] ROOTING and FLASHING anything on P8000 WITHOUT PC
Hi guys, I found a method to root and flash anything on my P8000 without unlock the bootloader, use SP Flash Tool and even use PC. I tried to go this way because I was not able to get my P8000 recognized by Flash Tool nor as a MTP (mass storage) device in any Windows 7 laptop. I decided to write this post because no-one over the net talks about alternative method of rooting Elephone P8000.
Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for ANY damage (software or hardware of any type) caused to your device, remember that I'm not a developer, and I'm only reporting my personal experience. DON'T try to flash rom linked below on other devices or flash roms which are not compatible with P8000.
Rooting and flashing process may VOID YOUR WARRANTY.
LET'S START.
1) DOWNLOAD THE STUFF: download everything directly through the browser of your P8000.
-TWRP recovery: http://www.mediafire.com/download/8g....7.0_v.4_1.zip
-Custom Rom: choose the rom you prefer from the link below and download it directly in your smartphone, my favorite one is Nexus rom:
-Eragon rom:http://www.needrom.com/download/eragon-3-for-p8000/
-CyanogenMod 12.1: http://www.needrom.com/download/stab...nogenmod-12-1/
-Mokee OS: http://www.needrom.com/download/mokeeos-2/
-EMUI V3.1 : http://www.needrom.com/download/emui...lite-stable-2/
-NEXUS rom v2.4: http://www.needrom.com/download/nexus-10/
-Flyme rom: http://www.needrom.com/download/p800...5-3-15082-5-1/
-Gapps: if you choose to install Nexus rom. or Mokee OS or CyanogenMod 12.1, you may need to install google apps also if you want google services and play store to run on your device. Click on the link from the browser of your device. Select ARM_64, then 5.1, and than "pico" and click on the button to download: http://opengapps.org/. If you need others apps download them from the play store.
2) ROOT YOUR P8000.
Use an app called Kingroot, but you will not find it on play store. Get it from the link below:
http://kingroot.it.uptodown.com/android
Download the app directly using the browser on your smartphone, then install and open.
Skip the tutorial and click on "Root device". Wait the process to be done (few minutes) and don't be scared if the device reboots. This app is able to root the most of android devices, but not the 100% is compatible.
3)UNZIP THE RECOVERY:
Install an app knows as RAR from play store, than open it and navigate to the directory where the twrp recovery zip is contained (usually "download" folder). Open the zip and extract the IMG file contained in it into the same folder.
4)INSTALL FLASHIFY.
You can find this app on the play store, or you may download it from the link below:
http://www8.zippyshare.com/v/pqLDpS5F/file.html. Open the app and grant superuser permissions, than accept the agreement.
Click on "Recovery image", than "choose a file" and than "downloads", select the IMG file of the recovery you extracted before and wait for the process to finish, a message will appear. This app can be used on any android device that is compatible, but flash only IMG and zip files specific for your model. Now we can install the Rom or any zip file you want through the twrp recovery.
5) NANDROID BACKUP:
Power off your P8000 and than boot into recovery mode. To do this press and hold power button and volume up at the same time, release them when white writings appear. Press volume app button to select "recovery mode" and than volume down to enter recovery mode.
Swipe the bar to allow system modifications, click on " backup" and select every partition displayed, then choose where the backup file will be stored and write the name you want to give to the backup file.
Swipe the bar to start and wait untill the process finishes ( few minutes). Press the back button to return to the main menu.
6) INSTALL ROMS OR OTHER ZIPS:
Before Installing a new rom you need to wipe many partitions of the device, from the main menu select "wipe" and "Advanced wipe", then select the partitions that you may wipe: system, data, cache.
Swipe to wipe and wait the process to finish (few minutes) an then press back button to return to main menu.
Now click on "install" and select "internal sorage" among the options, navigate and select the "download" folder where your downloaded zip files are(rom and gapps in this case). Select the zip that you want to install ( the rom in our case), swipe to confirm and wait few minutes, than press back and install the gapps zip as well.
At the end of the process click on "reboot system" and wait for the smartphone to reboot.
The first time it will take more time than a usual reboot (from 5 minutes to 10 minutes).
I hope this article will help you out!
Please forgive me for my bad english.
It's wrong that nobody over the internet talked about the method. I talked about this method in the last command at this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p8000/general/tutorial-flash-root-update-elephone-t3248742.

Yeah but nobody explained how to do it completely without using PC.
I thought this method of flashing ROMs with recoveries (philz, cm, twrp etc...) was common knowledge? I've been flashing ROMs like this since my HTC evo days. Isn't that the whole point to having a third party recovery?

Help. Spoofed n910F, in reality its n910P

Hello,
I am in real trouble, I bought used Note 4 thought it is an international variant as it shows in 'about device' (see snapshots) but after observing some glitches in the OS and dummy update software button, i got curious.
As a result, i installed phone info app and came to know it is basically N910P, which is spoofed to make it look like N910F variant (see snapshots). It has a buildnumber: DONGCHAO.A929 . However, the IMEI analyzer shows its N910C (see screenshots). This IMEI is matching with sticker at the back and it is written n910F at the back too. Using phone info's read imei tool shows another IMEI which is not matching with sticker and in about phone---> status menu's IMEI. So this could be the real IMEI of this phone?
So now my question is 1) can i revert back to N910P offical rom and keeping all features such as my network, 4g and hotspot features. I live outside USA btw. 2) Can i install N910P custom rom on it and keeping all features such as my network, 4g and hotspot features. just want to change this **** rom as it is very buggy
Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Here are my 2 cents on the questions asked by you:
1. You can flash the stock firmware on your phone (which is basically N910P). There is a link by @LMMT for the same.
However, do note that 4G might not be available (as you mentioned that you are not from US) . This device is primarily a CDMA device. Do check with your respective operator for the frequency on which it operates.
2. You can very well install a custom ROM on it. I have a thread here on XDA by which you can easily flash Galaxy S7 ported ROM (meant for N910G & N910T variants) to your N910P.
Again, 4G might be an issue.
3. Hotspot will not work on stock ROM natively as you will not be on Sprint network. For that, you can use FoxFi or PDANet by which Hotspot works flawlessly even on Stock & non-rooted ROMs.
If you are using some custom ROMs, Hotspot will work without any issues. You will just need to enter your APNs manually before using the data on your phone.
Hope, I've cleared your majority of the doubts!
Thanks for your reply mate.
Installing a stock and custom room will not mess with my local networks right? Since i live outside usa
Also, can you please paste the links here of stock rom for n910p and s7 ported custom rom of which you are talking about.
Thanks.

In order for you to overcome the network issue, you can do following:
1. Download ODIN from the following link:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934542368
2. Once you've installed all the Samsung USB drivers (search for them on XDA), extract this zip file to any location.
3. Download TWRP from here:
https://dl.twrp.me/trltecan/
Choose only the .tar version.
3. Put the downloaded tar file of the recovery in the same location where you extracted ODIN.
4. Switch off your phone & press "Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button" simultaneously & enter the download mode. The phone will show you a message, just press the "Volume Up Button" & connect it to the PC.
5. Run ODIN as an administrator. It will show your phone in the COM Port location (It will be blue in colour). Tick the "AP" section & locate the tar file of the TWRP. In options, uncheck "Auto-Reboot". Click on START & let the process finish. DO NOT REBOOT!!
6. Now, take out the battery and leave it outside the slot for 2-3 minutes. Then, insert it back & press "Volume UP + Home Button + Power Button" simultaneously to enter the TWRP recovery.
Back up your current ROM to the external SD Card.
then go to wipe section & press "Factory reset" three times. performing the operation thrice is very important.
Then go to "Advanced Wipe" and wipe everything (except external SD Card) also three times.
7. Again power off the phone & put it under the download mode (Volume Down + Home + Power).
8. Download the stock ROM from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/general/stock-tar-odin-flashable-t3250864
9. Again, download the newer version of ODIN through above thread. The steps & ODIN version are mentioned there only.
10. exit the previous ODIN & run the newer one with admin privileges. Again select "AP" in it & select the downloaded ROM location. Let ODIN read it & once it does, click on START.
11. Let the process finish without any interruption. the phone will auto-reboot after the process completion.
12. On reboot, you will get "activate your phone screen" and you can skip that by "Long pressing back button".
13. Configure your phone as per your choice.
Note: If you get any network related issues, let me know & I'll assist you there too. :good:
NOTE: I've mentioned TWRP method before flashing so that all your previous ROM version data gets cleared before flashing and you won't have any issues afterwards. However, if you want, you can straight-away proceed to the stock ROM flashing procedure but that in my opinion will not be good)

Have the same problem and the above solution doesn't work - the way to get GSM phone working is to downgrade to Android 5.1.1, but in my case, the modem still doesn't work.

Well, there are 2 points on which I would like to draw your attention towards:
1. There's no need to quote the whole reply. Simply tagging would also serve the same purpose.
2. I'm also using a GSM SIM on N910P with a stock ROM (that is not even rooted) and there's no issue related to the network whatsoever..
You must have flashed the stock ROM (or whatever you are referring to) without proper wipes through TWRP.
Do remember, that stock ROMs are coded in a way that they might require the Sprint SIM only, but (as I mentioned above) with proper wipes, they work without a glitch. Now, there are 2 possibilities using a non-modified ROM:
a) There will not be any data. The solution to it is that you have to manually enter the APNs of your respective operator and then, the data will also work fine.
b) The hot-spot will not work (as it again is locked by Sprint). For this, the solution is to use PdaNet or FoxFi (both available on PlayStore).
Last but not the least, do ,mention the steps that you carried out (whether you wiped full or not, which ROM you were earlier using, did you try to factory reset after flashing the stock ROM,etc) so it might make troubleshooting bit easier.

Download ODIN, TWRP, SuperSU, Samsung Drivers
- Copy the SuperSU.zip to your phone's storage
- Install Samsung Drivers
- Unzip Odin and start it
- Start your phone in "DOWNLOAD MODE" (Power off and then hold "Vol -" + "Home" + "Power")
-Connect phone to your computer with a usb cable
-Click on "AP" in "ODIN" and select the downloaded TWRP file
- Uncheck "Automatic Reboot" in ODIN
- Press "Start" and wait until its done
- plug off phone, remove battery and put itr back in again
- Start phone in TWRP mode ("Vol +" + "Home" + "Power")
-On first start TWRP asks you for System write premissions --> grant
- Within TWRP press "Install" and select the SuperSU.zip
-Reboot your phone and enjoy root
did you try Kingroot
Just to inform the next guy finding this thread through google like me:
I used LSxDs steps without issue, but in my case afterwards 3 more steps were necessary;
1. Open the SuperSU app and when asked to disable KNOX click yes, the app will hang on "disabling KNOX".
2. Restart the phone.
3. Open the SuperSU app again and when asked to disable KNOX click yes, this time it works.
Thanks to LS.xD for the steps, rooted a i9195i successfully today!
For me it worked without the 3 additional steps from LordPoopyIV.
For the next one: I tried it under Linux with JOdin. Did not work for me, because of missing 'pit file'. With odin under windows it worked flaweless.
Worked perfectly!! Thanks!
I'm having an issue - when I try, then I'm stuck at this step:
"-On first start TWRP asks you for System write premissions --> grant"
Mine does not - and it does not have the "install" option - only reboot, apply update from ADB, apply update from external storage, wipe data, wipe cache and apply update from cache.
Any help in moving forward would be greatly appriciated..
Could somebody please update the links for Odin and supersu that LS.xD mentioned in the first post?
Thanks!
Who knows which HSPA+ version is supported on i9192i? I suppose it is HSPA+ up to 42Mbits, isn it? On regular i9192 it is HSPA+ up to 21Mbits, but i see i9192i works on 25 Mbits right now, so it should be more fast version, which one exactly?
