I recently rooted my GS3 because I had heard many pros of rooting your phone. So I did. A few days after, I decided to mess around with my boot animation and when I rebooted my phone the screen stays black, but everything else comes on i.e my phone vibrates when I get new calls and messages. So, I was wondering if I needed to do a hard reset or something? I currently have CyanogenMod 10 installed and was planning on converting back to the Stock Android ROM. Any tips or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
Try reflashing the same rom to see if it overwrites the boot animation.

Does the screen ever come on or is it just blank when you boot it up ?

Edit: I flashed the Stock 4.1.1 ROM back on and everything seemed to be working fine until recently. I can't get my phone to connect to the WiFi at my house. It recognizes other networks, but not my home network.

Hey guys, I've searched and already found how to unroot and everything, but in my case, I have a broken screen so I can't visually see anything. I'm sending it into HTC but I don't want them realizing its been rooted anyway.
I have changed the bootup T-Mobile screen so there is no annoying sound... I don't know if that might throw them off.
I've tried androidscreencast but it won't load in recovery mode, only in normal mode.
It's running CR_Mod_1.35.531_OTA Full ROM
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Just send it back...I sent my original slide back due to camera being fuzzy and it was rooted with custom bootscreen and rom and nothing happened.. I did the same thing with a G1 years ago

I unlocked and rooted my phone the day I got it on launch day and haven't had any problems until now. My phone randomly turned off and is now stuck in a bootloop. I never installed a custom rom or anything and only rooted to install some root only apps. It just gets to the first screen with Google and the unlocked lock at the bottom and then the google and the lock kind of flicker and move side to side and change colors and then it starts over again.
I'm currently lost, kind of freaking out, and have no idea how to fix this. Any help? Thanks!
Go into fast boot mode and flash stock images.

Tried that, but the phone won't turn on at all. Completely dead. Going to Verizon later today, hopefully for it to be replaced. I don't really understand how this happened...if I was messing around with ROMs I would assume it was my fault, but I haven't been.
I got my Galaxy Nexus 3-4 days back and have been using it pretty nicely. Suddenly today while activating bluetooth via an application called 'Notification Toggle', my phone crashed and the boot animations begun to come up.
The animation were taking a lot of time so I pulled the battery out, re-inserted it but was still stuck at the boot animation.
Then I charged my phone for about 45 minutes - 1 hour, tried booting up again but still stuck at that animation.
I am from India and the Galaxy Nexus is not launched here officially so it's not even under warranty.
Please help me, what can I do? I'm really worried and don't have much knowledge about Android (as this is my first Android phone).
My phone is running Android 4.0.4 ICS and is GSM unlocked.
I request any of you to please post a detailed solution so that I can get my phone up and running. I'm fine if there is any sort of data loss but I'll prefer to have my data restored.
Thanks in advance.
I wouldn't say that I've been experiencing the same problem as you described. Meanwhile, before Droid I was using IPhone 3G. And I can say that several times both of phones were completely stuck for lot's of hours or even a day/night without any reasons. But then, they become alive again without any sign of what has happened. I'm not experienced technically, but I think that each system has it's own recovery settings which continue to work even when system is off. Or when the system couldn't repair itself it's just restarting after sometime. If you bought your Nexus officially, and it's not have been used and "raped", then I think it should be back soon.

Is it unlocked or rooted? if so I would recomend using fastboot to restore it to complete stock condition. If not..... I have no clue
Are you rooted or have a custom recovery? If so, just wipe data and reflash your current ROM.
If your phone is bone stock, you will more than likely have to download the device's stock fast boot images and flash them.
I'm not sure how this will affect your unlocked radio. Maybe someone else can help you from here.

So last night I turn off my phone and don't plug the charger in I awake in the a..m. send turn on my phone and it's stuck on the samsung screen after the sprint animation. I pull the battery for a few secs put it back in power up and the same thing. I just went into recovery and flashed back. No problems booting up, that was weird though I did let the phone sit atleast a minute both times. That was the first time I turned the phone off since I got it two weeks ago....One other thing. I noticed yesterday when I got to work at 9a.m. I seen the time on my clock said 4: 27 a.m. and I had to restart my phone to fix it

i apologize if this has been solved but i am on a very tight time frame as i need this phone for work and cant spend any longer searching. my phone randomly turned off by itself this morning and will not turn back on. it gets to the samsung splash screen and the screen just goes black and the phone wont do anything, its like the screen is stuck off, i have to take the battery out to make it turn do anything at all again. it was stock this morning, never been rooted or anything, i just rooted it about an hour ago and installed twrp and flashed jedi invasion 5 on it in hopes it would help. now it gets past the splash screen and to the initial setup screen but it only stays on it for about 3 seconds before the screen goes black again and i have to take the battery out for it to do anything again. im not an expert by any means but i have flashed note 2's and played with them a bit and know my way arround them for the most part. any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated.
almost forgot to mention, in download mode it says qualcomm secureboot: enable
not sure if that means anything but i didnt get any errors while flashing or anything
thanks everyone

I would make sure you have to correct drivers installed for the phone on your computer and ODIN back to stock. You can give that a try and see if it helps.
I'll check that out when I get home but I'm pretty sure everything is right, it was doing it before I even flashed anything so I think something else is the problem

Faulty battery or power button. You can try ODIN back to stock, not likely it will help.
It's not a battery or power button problem. Before I rooted it if I took the battery out and turned it on again it would turn on fine if I kept the screen from turning off. and the battery was staying charged, and if it wer a power button problem why would it work to turn the phone on but not again after its on?

My vote is a faulty power button. Has been known to happen on the S3. Could be power issues though. Bad battery could be the culprit. If flashing stock does not work see if you can get a battery to test out.

ok so i flashed stock and it fixed it temporarily. after i flashed it it was working great so i decided to root it and flash jedi. so i did this and it still worked great. (at this point i should mention that the sim card in the phone has been deactivated this whole time) so since its working i activate the simcard, restart the phone, and the problem started again. so i took the sim card right out and turned it back on and it works perfectly fine without the sim card in... what do you guys figure? should i try a new sim card? has anyone ever herd of this happening before?
EDIT: tried my other sim card in it and it doesn't work either, so it snot the simcard itself
Bump
