Quick question. Where can I get news updates for what and where T-Mobile is releasing in their OTA update?
Just curious because I have a friend that got another OTA update, but failed. Wondering if its cause he's rooted? He's on a stock ROM with just root.

He's probably got a custom recovery too. Root alone doesn't seem to prevent the update.

Did anyone else get a notification for a software update on their ion? I had one on mine just a few ago and when i clicked on it, it said it was already up to date. So anyway i got really excited and then shot down.

Now I have a message to update to 6.1.E.3.7 on the LT28i software. That is the build of the current LT28h software. Interesting. Here I was hoping it was an early Jellybean surprise.

It said it was upto date for me but the software update notification was pushed to my phone after I did a reboot this afternoon.

I am getting that update notification too. Not gonna try it till I can get my laptop running (forgot the power cord at work) so I can make an ftf of it and prerooted rom if it is the .3.7 update for the lt28i
The 6.1.E.3.7 update is there for me for a long time. Recently I got a Timescape Facebook add-on update.

I just did the update and it works. I reflashed 6.1.E.2.29 with Flashtool, rooted, and then used Voodoo OTA Root Keeper and flashed the OTA update. I now have the most current software and root. I will eagerly await your release for the deodex.
I'm not getting the update. Weird. I'm using a Rogers ion if that makes a difference.

Shouldn't make a difference as long as you flashed the generic LT28i ftf .29 or. 68.
am just gona wait till Spectre make a prerooted rom to flash.
Wondering if there's any difference with the new update ,kinda dought it.

Okay working on getting this update as my SUS says no update available and PC Companion says the update is available but when I try to install it says the software update isn't on the server.
Anyone have an FTF link for me? otherwise I will have to wait till I can get the update.
I managed to update via OTA but the firm cant be rooted using known root method. Didnt know how to extract the firm either so i had to flash back.

I tried updating with rooted firmware but it the phone woildnt update. I flashed stock 68 and updated, then i tried to root( failed by the way). I tried keeping root with voodoo but i must have done something wrong becaude the phine wouldnt update.

I was just able to update OTA to 3.7 from my prerooted deodexed rom. Seems 3.7 was just a small fix so might not be able to make a full ftf of it.

Why not repair phone from PCC, and make a ftf from there?
Ok so I downgraded to 4.1.1 and unlocked just fine but now when I try to get the ota 4.1.2 it says software update interrupted so am I now going to have to odin every update in the future or is there something im missing?
I have tge sgh-i317 at&t unlocked on jelly bean 4.1.1 with simple mobile

You should be rooted #1
No just use Odin to go back to stock 4.1.2 Rom. Or if you have a custom recovery installed.
Then you can just flash it in there! And you should be good to go.
BUT REMEMBER MAKE A BACKUP!!!!
And why would want an update from the carrier when there plenty of stock 4.1.2 Rom's here??
And they don't have all the crappy blot ware that AT&T puts on the phone either!

I have a SGH-I747, and on the last weeks I've updated it to 4.3 Jelly bean leaked version, which is UCUEMJ2, but now want to get the official 4.3 update (UCUEMJB). How can I make this? Is there any solution? Everytime I try to flash anything, it seems to get it done, but then I reboot my phone and there it is, the leaked and buggy 4.3 update still there. Can someone help me?

Pretty sure you should be able odin back to 4.1.x from the leak and then update ota. Downgrading from leak is safe afaik but don't downgrade from official 4.3 = brick. Sounds like you better be sure if you want to go to official. Please someone else confirm.

Yes you can downgrade to 4.1.1 via kies or Odin if you on MJ2 and take update to MJB over the air. But there is no comback to privies version of if you on last OTA 4.3 MJB...

Like others have said, you can odin back to 4.1.1 stock and start the OTA update process (you will need to update to 4.1.2 then do the 4.3 update). HOWEVER, please keep in mind that once you are on 4.3 stock you are stuck there. You cannot downgrade or you will brick your phone. Rooting the 4.3 stock rom is even a hit and miss at this point so do not even count on having root or a custom recovery. You have been informed and to update is at your own risk if is going to be an issue for you. I suggest give the developers time to figure things out first unless you just really want stock unrooted SIII experience.

Im pretty sure Kies will only let you install the latest official firmware, im not positive on this however as i avoid it like the plauge. Your best best is to use Odin to flash back to stock, and then grab the OTA (if thats what you have your heart set on).

Latest official firmware on kies is 4.1.1. So he can do this by kies if he was and he is sure he was on 4.2.1 or MJ6 latest and did not take OTA.

Yes this what you can do, but like I said if you sure you are did not take last 4.3 OTA update.

Well, I just got my UCUEMJB 4.3 update ready to work, and it is pretty stable. Thanks to everyone who helped me get this problem solved. The guy who was having problems as me:
It is SAFE to downgrade to 4.1.1 ONLY and notice, ONLY if you are on the UCUEMJ2 leaked update; you should be able to odin the 4.1.1 ROM, then get the 4.1.2 OTA update, and then again the 4.3 OTA update.

I have tried to do this. I am stuck at the 4.1.1 spot. Every tome I try to do the ota update it searches and then tells me update interrupted there is no update at this time. I am getting so tired of this. Please help. And by the way I switched carrier's to tmo and the phone is unlocked.

You just have to download the 4.1.2 OTA Update .zip file, and then manually flash it. Then, you should get the 4.3 OTA

But it says you can down on leaked firmware and im on mj2
I have an at&t s3 that is unlocked and am using it on t-mobile. I had the phone rooted with stock 4.1.2. Every time I tried to manually update it, it would pop up with update interrupted. I finally unrooted and went back to stock 4.1.1. The phone is still giving me the same message. Please help if you can.

Update may be failing because you are rooted. Rumor is you must be 100% stock unroofed for the update to complete.
As I said I unrooted and went back to stock 4.1.1!

Using it on TMobile means that the AT&T servers won't even know it's out there to be updated. Find an AT&T sim card and it should update.

I'm just going by what other people have reported. There have been a few that said they had trouble updating with a TMO sim card in. I haven't updated mine because I'm running stable right now and I'm waiting to see if the developers here can work around this new bootloader. They're having more trouble that usual manipulating Samsung's crap. I've heard it's a good update (smooth running, etc) but it's nearly impossible to flash other stuff if you get it.
Still cant get it to update ota and kies says its the latest firmware.

If you are connected to Tmo's network even if it did recognize the phone as needing to be updated it would download the T999 ota which is most likely causing your problem when the installer checks the hardware for compatibility. A quick google search turned up THIS which is a (stock) recovery flashable .zip for the official UCUEMJB build.

use odin to update and you will be fine
1st update to 4.1.2 with odin on stock
2nd update to 4.3 with odin on (4.1.2) stock
