[Q] Best settings/tweaks to maximize battery life. w/ ViperX 2.5.0 & ncx_3.14_SENSE
Device info:
Rom: ViperX 3.5.0
Kernel: ncx_3.14_SENSE
What settings/tweaks would improve battery life but still maintain a moderate speed (no lag, etc.)?
Best CPU Governor?
Suitable CPU max & min frequency?
Settings to disable/enable?
Apps to install/uninstall?

cpu governor - smartmax, i/0 - rio
cpu min-max = 51-1300 ( 1200 should be enough if you dont play games)
Wifi is preferred over 3G to improve battery life. Dont use task killers, they end up killing essential processes and hence decrease battery.

This app shows kernel wakelocks and which app is causing them. There is also a guide in that thread

[Q] No Frills CPU Settings?

Hi guys,
I was wondering if any of you could advice me on what are the best settings to use for:
a) Battery life?
b) Maxing out performance?
Cheers!
You need a custom kernel to play around with CPU governors. (No custom JB kernels yet as the source hasn't been released).
If you're still on ICS and have a custom kernel, interactive or ondemand are battery friendly. Performance governor give the bets performance (surprise).

at the moment i use the android revolution hd 6.0 rom with a perseus 29.1 kernel. the battery drain is 1,5%/h (betterbatterystats: 2d 42m battery 25%) and the cpu setting is stock. i will see if it change after the next charging.
i already downloaded the redpill rev1.00 kernel and i want to test it the next time.
unfortunately i've got some l2_hsic wakelocks with the perseus kernel (2h in 2 days) and will see what happens with the redpill kernel.
tenofnine
ROM and Kernel have only a small effect on battery life. The main culprits are processes that wake the phone up from deep sleep and engage the CPU or data transmittion.
When I lowered all auto-update intervals of apps from once-per-30-minutes to once-per-4 hours, my battery life nearly doubled itself.
i presume that you already disabled/lowered these "useful" things to improve your batterylife.
i don't play games on my cellphone, just some surfing and calling on viber (2-3h per day) however my battery lasts longer compared to the stock rom.

Best performance settings

What is the best performance settings? To save battery

governor :- "conservative" as will let you at least use the phone rather than POWER SAVING governor (DEAD SLOW) and best suited with I/O scheduler :- SIO
hope i helped.. PRESS THE THANKS BUTTON
You know... CPU governor will scale the frequency based on the apps' activities... Rather than improving performance in the surface by modifying CPU governor, I suggest installing Greenify and look for heavy apps that consume much battery and uninstall them.
Look for a lighter app that doesn't burn your internet data or battery.
Conservative governor will give you choppy performance. I thought the whole reason of installing CM11 was to get rid of lags... On the other hand, interactive governor will give you lag-free performance. Battery usage is different for everybody, depending on the apps you use.

PLS HELP! Worse battery drain after underclocking :(

I have rooted my Redmi 1s via native root method because i only want to underclock it.
I am using No Frills CPU app and its config is as follows:
Max - 1.19
Min - 384
governor - ondemand
IO scheduler - cfq
I am having worse battery drain than before rooting!! :crying:
Earlier i had one day battery life with normal usage. Now it dosent even last for half a day! I am having 20-25% battery drain in one hour...
I am running stock MIUI v45.
anybody facing the same issue? Please help me...
Upgrade to V50 or flash MiUi V6 or CM11 R22,I get around 1.5 days of battery backup on normal usage on R22
I am using carbon rom RC7 with carbon kernel v1.3 beta.i am getting awesome battery life.At night if i leave my phone with wifi on ,after waking up in morning(nearly 10 hours),yeah i sleep that much ) it consumes only 1% battery.
Note:
1)i have no sim in my phone.
2)i use greenify to hibernate all apps even some system apps too.
My kernel setting:
96-1190mhz,ondemand,sio

kernel adiutor tweaks for stock and gaming mode?

I am on miui 10 with ancient Kernel v1.6
Can u tell me kernel adiutor tweaks for stock and gaming mode?
For gaming :
Cpu governor =Interactive on both, max speed to 2.2/1.8 or can be kept near stock 1.8/1.6 too as it's not a huge difference in performance (for it to be more battery balanced)
I/O scheduler = Deadline, readahead buffer= 1024-2048, rq affinity=2, switch off other things like rotational entropy etc.
TCP profile =Westwood
Importantly Keep ZRAM=0, or flash "Swap Torpedo" in Magisk otherwise with swap file on you'll lose more battery and performance in general and it's plain unnecessary on a modern phone like RN5.
Basically these are the basic settings and should get you around 132000-135000+ in Antutu and also generally high and consistent performance in games. In pubg @60fps my battery consumption is usually 18-23% per hour thus you can expect around 4hours of intense gaming on a fully charged battery.
