Sorry, is this replacing an HP touchpad running android or where you planning on installing android on the tf600t (impossible at this time)?
Most of the basic windows 8 apps seem to be uninstallable. Apart from weather for some reason.

replacing my HP Touchpad that runs android... i did not plan on putting android on the ASUS, even if it was possible.
i have heard that the basic apps cant be uninstalled, but the ASUS ones, that you wouldnt see on let's say a SURFACE... can there be removed?

Yes, you can remove them.
Technically even the basic or core apps can be removed, it just takes a bit of work. They don't consume that much storage though, and you can remove them from the Start screen very easily.
Honestly dont buy the Asus. It's really bad quality.

Seems that this is a software issue, introduced by one of the latest updates... im sure it will get resolved soon.
other than that, how is the tablet, and keyboard dock? is it worth it for 400 brand new?
has the app ecosystem for RT improved much since launch?

Seems to be more related to static electricity which is a hardware issue that should have been caught during the design process.
Installing android on my Asus RT TF600T
I am absolutely hating windows 8.1 on my Asus RT TF 600T and disparately want to rid myself of it. Is it possible to install an Android system OS on it and where would I get such a thing from? I have hard rooting it is possible on the earlier versions on the transformer Pads .... will this work on the TF600T ?
... nope. I mean, in most ways, Windows RT devices are already "rooted"; you've got Admin access and arbitrary control over the file system and registry. However, if you mess with the bootloader or system libraries in any way, the firmware will prevent the system from booting. So no, Android isn't currently an option. Why'd you buy a Windows tablet if you wanted an Android one?

Does anyone know that Windows phone 7 compatible with LG KS20 ?
I am really happy when have some news.
Not to sure if they've been made official yet, but the minimum specs for phone 7 are very high end, and include specialised hardware buttons. I'm not sure any device meets the specs so I wouldn't hold you're breath.

No phone will be able to be upgraded from WM6.x to WP7.
Nope...
I doubt it... Just get a theme or shell... And uhm... i think our devices should be able to run wp7 apps anyway..

You have the same amount of luck having iOS ported to your phone as you do WP7.
I was wondering, which of the following, does the Touch Pro 2 fall under when downloading a .cab.
Pocket PCs (PPCs)
StrongArm
MIPS
SH3
Handheld PCs (H/PCs)
StrongArm
MIPS
SH3
SH4
Palm-sized PCs (PalmPCs - not Palm OS devices)
MIPS
SH3
Pocket PCs (PPCs) ofc.
I guess that youre downloading a really old cab file

Yep, those are old designations. Any program using them may work on these devices (I have a few that do), but are probably not finger-friendly. Most newer stuff for these phones are categorized as simply PPC (non-touchscreen) and Smartphone (touchscreen).

Actually I believe its the other way around. PPCs are touchscreen and smartphones are non touchscreen.
It is for Dope Wars. I had previously used the .exe to install it, not knowing the answer to my original post. I want the cab though because i flash my phone regularly with an updated rom and it would be a lot easier to just have the .cab.

I'm pretty sure I'm right since PPCs have been around longer and were originally designed to use a stylus.

You actually just contradicted yourself.
You originally said "PPC (non-touchscreen) and Smartphone (touchscreen)". Now you're saying "PPCs...were originally designed to use a stylus". If you're using a stylus, your phone is probably a touchscreen device (I don't see how you need a stylus for a non-touchscreen device).
EDIT: Okay, you caught yourself!
OP: The TP2 is a PPC with an ARM processor, so you'll need to choose PPC - StrongARM.
If some one can port android on chinese phones with Java OS will add great value to them. This will help in using low cost phones comparable to big brands. People will pay for them too.
Like the Chinese phones that run oPhone?
We get cheap chinese qwerty phone or even samsung and nokia have them
Impossible.

I second this as Android needs certain parts that cheap Chinese phones don't have
I can sure use some help. I have just received (donated to our church) a 10" PC tablet. It's one of those generic tablets (looks most like the WPad). Anyway I've got questions but don't know where to go to get answers.
Can anyone help give me direction? I started here at xda because I know the best of the post-ers and the keenest minds "reside" here.
Thanks!!

Can not help you if we don't know what kind of tablet you have. Check this list to see if your tablet is on XDA
Thanks for the responses. First of all there is no name on this tablet. It is not on the list you offered; it seems like one of those generic "made in China" tablets that has a Windows 7 "Ultimate". However on the homescreen, it says "Windows 7 Build 7600 This copy of Windows is not genuine."
Did someone put that on the unit perhaps, or did it get built originally that way. I keep getting pop up warnings about a counterfeit Windows and certain things happen such as the theme on the home screen disappears everytime I turn the unit on again. Can I run this like it is? Is it possible to get a Windows 7 on this without paying hundreds of dollars to do so?
Again, its a generic model. It a nice unit and I really would liketo know more about it. It is large enough to have a fan, has 2 USB ports, front camera, HDMI, and a rocker switch (which I thought was a volume control but it only effects brightness). On the front there is only a windows logo button for bring up the menu. Otherwise its not a bad unit. I was just hoping for someone familar with it to walk me through it or show me where there might be a user guide.
A great title to come into a thread to be just confused
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if someone has tried to make the Sony NSG-MR5U or NSG-MR7U (the same but with a microphone), originally made for the NSZ-GS7 and NSZ-GS8 Google TV boxes, on Android ?
I was looking for remote for my android tablet (Samsung Galaxy note 8) and Nexus 5 that I plug on my TV. I found tons of ****ty "made in china" bluetooth remotes on the amazon/ebay (like the iPazzPort™ ProMini Bluetooth Mini Wireless Keyboard).
I have bought this Sony remote, the quality and feel is really good, it can pair with my tablet, the keyboard and most buttons are working, but unfortunately the touchpad is not... This would be the ultimate remote for Android
I did not find anything on the web, except some people tried to make the NSG-MR5U on Linux (forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=153504&page=2 and mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg03251.html), but agin the trackpad is not working. I did not find anything on XDA about this remote.
Anyone has an idea how to make the touchpad of this remote work on Android ?
Let us know if you find the way to solve it. I am considering to buy Logitech K400r guys are agreeing to be the best choice. Thanx.
I want this remote to work on my windows HTPC. everything works except a few minor buttons and the trackpad. all this remote really needs is someone with experience to make a trackpad driver, and whatever would be necessary to allow the remote to wake a sleeping machine. The keyboard and most media keys work fine on their own. the rest of the keys that don't work can be customized using Eventghost. I have a serial cable for my Samsung tv to connect to my pc as well to operate the tv for basic functions. if I could just get this remote to work, id have a perfect setup for my needs.
Also, confirmed working on my Nexus 5. basically all functions OP mentioned work. no trackpad of course. I wonder if someone could pull the drivers from the Sony google TV this remote came from, since its an android device as well?

Up!
This remote already has a driver for Android (I think the Sony NSZ-GS8 Google TV box is running the Jelly Bean Google TV). Does anyone know how to extract a driver from Android in general? The closest answer I found to this is not very encouraging : android.stackexchange.com/questions/28379/where-are-android-drivers-located-in-the-system
[PS: the 10 post limitation for posting URLs and in Dev forums is really very annoying!]

How the Logitech K400r is supposed to work on Android? According to the specs, this keyboard is using the unifying receiver instead of the bluetooth standard.. But that said, I have this keyboard for a Windows 7 PC and it is working beautifully.

so. Im bringing back this thread, or trying to. I've had this remote for some time, pretty much collecting dust. Why you ask? Well for one the Box this was designed to work with was a Sony made Google TV .. hoping someone somewhere has a copy of that firmware and we might be able to extract what we need to get this working fully!
