Once MC3 (aka Premium Suite) is officially out or leaked.... - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Does that mean AOSP ROMs will be able to have multi-view??

not likely. The multiview feature has heavy dependencies on the touchwiz framework. While to may be possible to port it over to AOSP, I doubt it will be. We've already had a working multiview available on the international SG3 (for months now) but it hasn't been ported over to AOSP yet. Having an "official" premium suite for the Sprint GS3 won't change anything in the AOSP world.

Damn! I thought the opposite would happen and that it'd make it possible. Thanks for the answer!

In my opinion multiview isn't that great...

There's an AOSP equivalent of multiview called multiwindow, it's a little different, but same concept
But as for Touchwiz multiwindow, i doubt it....it would take a lot of high-level smali edits, and even then it would probably be glitchy

Development

Is it me or has development for the galaxy s3 slowed down dramatically? Have most of the device switched to another device?
Some devs have moved onto the Note II, while others are still developing. I actually think development is still quite strong for our device. There's over 10 AOSP roms that's been updated since March 1st and there's probably over 10 TW roms updated since March. I helped a friend of mine mod his EVO LTE and I felt like his device was way more limited in ROM selection than ours was.
Not only that, the developers have pretty much everything running smoothly. What exactly needs to be updated? TW ROMs are updated, AOSP ROMs are pretty much all 4.2.2...
Once the S4 drops TW development will pick up, and when 5.0 gets released AOSP will pick up.
Right now, I'm running the latest version of Android with a slew of extra features and no bugs at all. Not much to develop.

LiquidSmooth stable release.
Well I see no reason to continue development like the past if most ROMs are pretty stable already sure when a new update comes every devs will push out updates with whatever is new in stock but other than that ROMs are pretty stable and its best to be left like that. That's just my opinion though.

development is still running strong (Have you seen the changes constantly being made to The People's Rom and Mother of all roms for instance?) I run either of those, and they are always adding new features to please the people who run them. So i don't see development slowed at all. As more things trickle down the pipeline via release or port, from another device, they will get added. Development is strong with this one. :silly:
It not really about quantity but quality. We have both. In feel we and our devices are very fortunate for the people who develop for our phones. There are some amazing ROMs to choose from, and even better developers and their teams doing it. Just to name my favorites depending if you like TW or AOSP

I completely agree, If it's working perfectly, not much really to update.. Little things here and there that folks want added... but overall.. not much you can change really.

Most roms are stable now. Most devs are waiting for the official 4.2 as well. Plus some have moved to the Note2 or getting there hands on the S4.

[REQ]galaxy S3 jb port

please can anybody port s3 jb rom having samsung app and touchwiz Nature ux or can anyone bring samsung apps, fonts and touchwiz to cm10.
I have reverted back to gb from cm10 as i dont feel the interface of cm10 that cool.
Our devs have done their very best to bring newer versions of android to our phone. Let's just wait for them to finish and fine tune their work and less pressure on some features.

well we had some devs working on porting JB TouchWiz of the Galaxy Ace 2 but soon later it was discontinued due to not having enough of the knowledge to do so. it all seems impossible for now.

Yeah, and from SIII is more complicated than ACE2
an original samsung rom is full of bloatware and with this phone's low ram, definitely can't handle it smoothly. And for touchwiz nature ux, i thought someone already ported it for our phone? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2194045
Idk if developers are interesting in this touchwiz... Today or Tommorow I will release my new CM10.1
Ynt: [REQ]galaxy S3 jb port
I think it's possible, but difficult.

Porting touchwiz android 4.2.1 to I747 and other carrier variants.

Hey everyone. I am just getting into development and am looking for some experience in the field. I know it is not easy, but, if someone is not already working on this, would anyone like to join me in an attempt to port a touchwiz android 4.2.1 ROM from the international GS3 to all carrier variant GS3s? If so, respond here, or PM me. I am really interested in getting the ball rolling on this as the new touchwiz features intrigue me, but as a high school student I have no money for a galaxy s4.
Thanks for your interest.

I don't even think its possible to port from international..
I mean in general is it, but its completely rewriting everything from scratch since US and International is completely different hardware... That's why no one has done it.
Anyone feel free to correct me but OP, if you want to really accomplish this, you have a LONG way to work. Its easier to cook your own TW ROM

I was just wondering, because it has all of the new touchwiz functionality from the galaxy s4 (minus some of the hardware dependent stuff) so it just seemed like a cool idea. Maybe I can just get the cam, gallery, and some other stuff to work with our current touchwiz/android version.

That's if they even release TW source code... Which they probably wont since its closed sourse... The only hope is waiting for the US variant, but even with the US variant, its still closed. This is something extreme lol most elite devs won't even mess with TW since no code makes it extremely difficult... But we'll have to wait and see.

Yeah, It is rather annoying. But is TW being closed source a new thing? Because if I remember correctly, some, if not all, of the Galaxy S3 TW versions were available open source.

The only source Samsung releases consist of kernel source code and various stock stuff. None of the stuff they release is for TW...
Touchwiz is and always has been closed source. If code was released for TW those featured would of already been implemented to AOSP based roms.

Any Touchwiz ROMS?

Sorry, I am extremely new to the sch-i515. I got it for my mother, and she doesn't like AOSP ROMS.
So, I was wondering if there are any Touchwiz Roms? Preferably rooted.

Tmobile Wifi calling on 4.4 roms?

Do any of the new roms -- 4.4X support tmobile wifi calling?
The slim rom is awesome but no wifi.
Jedi is dead---
WiFi calling is a feature included only in TW ROMS released by T-Mobile or custom ROMS based on official T-Mobile ROMS.
If you need WiFi calling you need to stick to TW 4.3 based ROMS until T-Mobile releases official Kitkat update.

I tinkered with the apk and looked at the framework from the GN3 4.4 ROM. Well beyond me how to merge it to the GN2 Nordic based ROMs.

3. How do i find the TW roms?

TW refers to TouchWiz, which is the user interface that Samsung uses for all its stock versions of Android. GN# refers to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phone which is out and already has Kit Kat 4.4 on it. What I am saying is, the GN3 (Galaxy Note 3) is running a TouchWiz ROM (if it is stock of course) becuase Touchwiz only refers to Samsung's overall implementation of Android on Samsung phones.
So unfortunately, there is no way to answer your questions 1 or 2. Now as to where you find TouchWiz based roms, the forums here on XDA are a good start. Make sure what you are looking at is based for our phone (the SGH-T889) and either specifically says TouchWiz or specifically NOT say AOSP based.
One more thing. READ, READ, READ, READ. It seems you may need just a little more understanding to find what you are looking for. Good luck. There are many folks here willing to help.

While it's *possible* to port over there would be a metric butt ton of work that would probably break some stuff. The tmo 4.4 ROM is likely coming soon anyway.
