I am running an AOSP ROM (DeviantXone) so will all of them be incapable of working?? The only one that has worked for me so far was S-Voice until Samsung shut down the servers to it because they found out about the leak; also I couldn't get into the settings anyway so it was kinda useless.
Nope, I tried to install S-memo but it wouldn't take
Most of these apps require TouchWiz dependencies. They all work fine on my S3 on a TW rom.

Not "out of the box" but with a lot of work TW apps can be ported: http://epiccm.blogspot.com/2012/01/porting-touchwiz-apps-for-cm7.html

Alot of those apps are useless. In my opinion. I wish someone could get the accuweather widget to work on AOSP.

I'm running Darkside Evolution 2.
I'm really not digging the Touchwiz Dialer, which inexplicably leaves off the contacts tab.
Is there a way to replace the dialer with AOSP, or is this one of those things that pretty much needs to be baked into the ROM?

Just doing that doesn't seem to work, seems like phone.apk is very finicky.
Based on the lack of responses from anyone chiming in saying they've done it, doesn't sound like anyone has managed to pull it off yet it's so finicky.

It's possible. There was a zip somewhere that was posted on the Skyrocket forum. I can't find it, so I decided to upload it. Not taking credit for it, just can't remember where it came from: AOSP Patch.zip
Edit: Was having problems before, but reflashed from scratch, now all is well.
Just as a warning, if you flash the zip above, you well also be theeming your market and contracts etc. Also it's a darker version of the dialer without the blue accents.

News and weather (aka Genie) has always been the first thing I install on my previous galaxies, Can someone work out how to make it work for sgs3 please
Kind regards Dan
I've had a look at the apps inside Cyanogenmod roms and can't identify a specific apk for news and weather I'm afraid so it must be part of something. Otherwise you could just install it and off you go. So far with my S3, I've added the calender, music, gallery and messaging apps from Cyanogen9 to replace the fat Samsung versions, gradually heading to a stock ICS feel, oh, Nova launcher as well.
Just pull the genie apk from Google apps and put it into /system/app

Its named GenieWidget.apk in CM9 ROMs and AOKP ROMs it will work because its based on 4.0
Here it is (extracted from a ICS customrom for the S2):

You have to copy/paste it to /system/app using Root explorer for example.
It's then in the list of your available widgets
Working on AT&T Galaxy Note i717
Thanks for the link and info on putting it in /system/app. It worked instantly on my rooted AT&T Galaxy Note i717 with ICS 4.0.4 ROM.

My post at the bottom (at time of posting this reply) will give you a link to the new S-Voice from the S4 dump, as well as a better camera app ported from another device (not S4, but I'm not entirely sure which device)

I think it relies on some other files within the new touchwiz. I tried it last night, was able to open it. But it would crash right away. Might be 4.2.2 dependant.

I was able to get quite a few working, a lot of the main apps (secphone, secmms, gallary and camera) require additional work to get working. Shouldn't be too long until they are ported though.

which ones did you get to work?
Installation fails because it is missing libraries. This is on 4.2.2.
So I extracted the MMS.apk from Slim Bean ROM. I then put it on my extSdCard, then I placed it in /system/apps and renamed it "SecMms.apk". It worked flawlessly EXCEPT it would not send MMS. It will send regular texts and even group texts perfectly though. Is there anyway to get MMS to work or is that not possible due to AOSP vs TW specific stuff? Thanks.

Well obviously I know bout those. But Cbass has stopped development for his, and amiblindyet's AOSP messaging for TW does not have group messaging, or quick reply. The one in Slim Bean does though.

There really is no way to do it if you are using Samsung 4.2.2 based touchwiz custom roms .
However there are a lot of themes which are specifically made for the dialer and contacts for touchwiz roms.
Check out the Samsung Galaxy S4 THEMES forum here in xda..........
good luck!

Did you pull that from an aosp rom? You sure you didn't get it from a zip file that had already been modified? Because I'm pretty positive you can't just push it to the system/apps folder like that as I've tried that before. Also, different aosp mms apks don't work across all touchwiz firmwares so how would you explain that?
