Hi everyone,
Is there any way to lower minimum volume for headphone use?
I frequently listen to YouTube or other things through my headphones as I'm trying to fall asleep... But the minimum volume is just too loud. If i try to lower volume any more, it's silent. Any ideas?

What I want to know is how to get rid if the auto crap when you plug in headphones. I just have to turn it up to hear anything.

No ideas? This has to be one of the worst parts about android... No way to prevent hurting my ears.
Related: notifications make a noise when headphones are in even if ringer and notification volume is zero. Hurts my ears a lot.
I use Shure SE535 in ear monitors which are very loud.

Is it just my phone or is the ear speaker volume really low? I have it all the way up and can barely hear. On my other phone, its loud and clear.

I'm thinking mine is damaged. I found a replacement speaker. Anyone know how to replace it?

How to: REPLACE INCREDIBLE BLOWN SPEAKER
That's for the regular speaker though right? I'm talking about the ear speaker.

Whoops, sorry about that! In that case, I'm not sure about a link.
I can say though that on my phone, the ear speaker is plenty loud if I'm in controlled conditions (i.e. indoors, or a calm day). If I'm in nasty conditions (like outside on a very windy day), then the volume leaves something to be desired, but frankly I've never owned a phone where that wasn't the case.
Best of luck!
I noticed that the Stock setup the earpiece was very low, but practically every ROM I've tried it's much louder (especially the CM's).
Not sure of an easy way to fix your problem without flashing a new ROM though :/
There's an audio boost kernel Ucan try

Even on 1 this 900 drops a **** ton of sound. Anyone else have the same problem? Podcasts, music, ringtones and notifications doesn't matter: it just booms.
yes. this phone has great volume. But after 15 it doesnt seem to get any louder on my phone.. for music at least..?
What I have noticed, I'd that the volume increments are very irregular on the external speaker, but much more consistent on Bluetooth, and wired headsets.

Yes when I had mine it was loud. It was a welcome change as most smart phones are not loud enough, but yes low volume setting was still loud.

This is pretty much what I noticed. I am glad the phone is loud rather than not loud enough. I wish they could adjust the volume to coincide with the numbers better.

Yeah going from 0 to 1 is like what going from 0 to 15 should be. They need to work on the lower volume range; it's basically an on/off switch at the moment. Annoying at times, but not a deal breaker IMO.
I love volume of my Lumia...its loud and clear....even though it keep it at 10-15 range most of the time...but its really good for very loud places too
I'm deaf in 1 ear...so it all sounds good to me. Though, I am trying to figure out what a ****ton is....
Ever since I got my nexus from the play store, even with the volume down, and on screen touch sounds off, I get this popping noise when I make a screen selection. After about 2-3 seconds, there is another pop. I know I had this problem on my old phone when I put headphones in and made a screen selection. Is there any way to fix this?

No, it's your speaker. If you can hear the speaker "shutting down" under normal conditions, making that static sound, you should get it fixed/exchanged. I have to press my ear against the speaker to hear it. But it's there, just very quiet.

Maybe you should remove the bubble wrap gloves?
Does this occur with or without earphones??

My Nexus 7 produces static noise near the top of the device (in portrait) when the CPU is loaded (in game). It's easily noticeable when the speakers are muted. Exit the game and the noise immediately goes away. I don't think it's speaker noise because on the bottom side of the device I can barely hear it, probably just the same noise traveling thru the device from top to bottom. And it doesn't seem to be buzz from the screen backlight because it wouldn't depend on CPU load.
Anyone else has that?
Is this normal buzzing from the components? or could it be that I have a faulty capacitor or something in there that might end up failing?
I don't want to risk an exchange before determining if this is not common/normal since the only problem that I have otherwise is a mushy volume up button, which I can live with since it's still mostly functional.
Happens on all the games you tried? Strange.

It happens on any high CPU load. Even YouTube and opening a heavy app like AccuWeather triggers it.
It sounds like electric static noise not speaker static noise if that makes any sense. Like a bad PSU.

Well if you think it is a real issue you should RMA. That sucks. Hopefully you will get a better one.
Mine is on a truck right now. I hope it is good. Starting to have my doubt's after reading the sound issues.

It is the game, the volume control on this device is cheap and emits a static noise. The reason why you don't hear it out of the second speaker is because most games don't have support for stereo sound.

It seems to have quieted down. Couple of days ago I noticed it when I was in bed with the device at normal distance from my head. Now, same situation, I have to put my ear against the top part to even hear it.
I doubt it's speaker related because I just tried 3Dmark which has no sound + I had the sound muted and still heard the same screeching noise when I put my ear against it. And it sounds different than the static noise that everyone else is reporting at lower volume levels.
Maybe a few heat cycles were needed to put the components into optimal operating state. I'd say now the noise is almost normal for a consumer grade electronics.

Does anyone have a flashable mod like the note 3 that can increase overall system volumes.Im using viper but still not as loud as my note 3 that has both the mod and viper together.

The Viper mod can already double the volume. You realize that this already can damage your loudspeakers, right?

I think you need to better consider what you wish. A decent (and I do not mean top) set of headphones should provide a degree of sound isolation from outside noise, and if you feel the need to increase the volume to extremes to overcome sound from loud areas such as the subway or other, then I would strongly recommend investing in better noise isolating headphones instead. You can also acquire noise-cancellation headsets, that help actively reduce outside noise to better hear the music you are listening to.
One of the least understood dangers of headphones is that even mildly loud sound on a headphone is equivalent to a very loud live concert or nightclub, and regular exposure to such volume will lead to permanent hearing loss. Note that you will not notice this until it is quite late. If you lose 5-10% of your hearing, you will not notice. Your brain will adapt. It is only when you have reached serious levels that this will be visible to you, and by then it is too late of course.
