[Q] Notoriously restarting Wave II - Bada Software and Hacking General

I have a Samsung Wave II, and on Bada 1, it was self-rebooting 4-7 times a day. So I started installing other firmwares, like Turko or FireFly, and I still get spontaneous restarts, and 100% certain restart when I try to delete an SMS message on ANY rom.
Is that normal for Bada/Wave II?

Try doing a hard reset.

How exactly should I do it?

But before doing ask others I am not a expert in this. Just wait others for answer.
I think dial this for Hard Reset and Backup Everything.
*2767*3855#

Flash stock ROM then hard reset
C if the problem persists if not then its all good,
if it persists then there might be some hardware problems
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app

Ok, so one more question - how do I flash stock rom and where can I get it?

Download Firmware & tools to flash from this Link as per ur Device:- http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/
Procedure:-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep-Efn2r970

I have S8500 doing that. Was not able to fix it. Looks like some HW bug with power module.

Sorry, I can't help, but in my flashing thread, it has also been reported. But I think it happens more often on phones with asian firmwares. I had one report in the german forum too, but I am not sure if it was an "asian" version.
I think if something happens while the firmware update with an asian firmware, it might end up in a bootloop. I am not sure, but I think it makes also the partitioning of the storage, isn't ?
It would be good if we could get a "gettogether" in this thread and have all the reports of the soft-/hardbricked SGWs. So we can analyse and maybe find out the reason or atleast narrow down the issue.
I would like to know:
1. Did you have a custom rom before the flash ?
2. Was your phone rooted ?
3. Did you make the internal/external swap ?
4. Did ODIN say PASS before you disconnected(before the bootloop happend) ?
5. Any other fancy modifications you have done and what we should know ;-D ?

My team already try for asian rom that you provide in your tread and the new version of stock rom. it didn't do full wipe just normal flash like the others
Only stock rom & rooted bro...
PASS but the phone not turn on -_-"
No swap partitions
Just regular phone for daily use
If we can found the stock rom with wipe and bootloader still can be fixed
Hopefully it can be fixed without go to samsung -_-
All of us must aware for this issue bro..

I have edited my thread, it makes people now more alert about the risk of bricking.
Maybe it is more secure always wiping everything using ClockWorkMod:
Using this course of action:
1. Backup everything manually what you can!
2. Flash via ODIN ClockWorkMod Recovery on your device(english). Scroll down to other and select ClockWorkMod.
3. Once ClockWorkMod is flashed, go to the recovery:
a) backup and restore -> backup to external sdcard
b) backup and restore -> restore from external sdcard
This is to make sure the files aren't corrupted, if this is successful you can be sure everything is backupped. If you get a MD5 mismatch something went wrong. Try again!
c) wipe data/factory reset -> confirm
d) wipe cache partition -> confirm
e) mounts and storage -> format system -> confirm
f) mounts and storage -> format cache -> confirm
g) mounts and storage -> format data -> confirm
4. You restart your phone in Download Mode and flash a firmware using this instruction, which is provided in the thread under Firmwares.
5. Now you will have to flash again the ClockWorkMod recovery to restore your data.
Than open ClockWorkMod Recovery and:
backup and restore-> advanced restore from external sdcard -> select the backup -> Restore data -> confirm.
Now if you want the stock recovery back(needed for OTA updates) instood of ClockWorkMod, than go to the Others or Sonstiges and select the stock recovery, and flash it on your device.
6. Now you should have a fresh device like you have never flashed before!!!
Oh yeah, the reason why you have to make these complicated steps: Because you were flashing all different kinds of firmwares, you system will be a mess. To make sure your device is not a overwritten old firmware these steps are necessary.
Flashing via ODIN does not delete all old data !!!
I have to say also: I have flashed all the ROM's successfully before posting them in my thread about flashing.

Yes he already inform this...
But the question why just only him that get boot lop, this is kind a strange because another user didn't face the problem like this
His problem happened after applying V6 SC
I know that V6 SC update 9 RC6 have a change for boot lop, because for applying 100% must integrated built.prop
So many friend of my use V6 SC update 9 RC4 that more stable for our phone
Actually there is nothing different if we flash with nandroid and update.zip
The script doing same thing except for the user data
nandroid use md5 for more safety flashing
Like i wrote before..
Before this happen the phone always do restart it self
I hope there is any progress for prevent and fix this issue
The user that have this problem, now must go to Samsung to fix it before we know how to fix it
Regards
I'd like to say this sudden restart happen to me quite often while in stock rom, but after I flash custom rom this phenomenon never happen again. This phenomena only happen while I'm on stock rom.

Update for this..
My friend reported..
For my country, we get FULL WARRANTY for this case
and waiting this status until fixed about 2 days
For the first phase they do regular Flashing with STOCK ROM based on country
then it still cannot on (we know already -_-)
We didn't sure yet is the phone will be change with the new one or not because this had implication from hardware issue..
Come back latter..

Is there a thread outlining what the symptoms of this particular Boot loop problem are.....
Maybe this post in this thread.....from THE-E....

it should be stickied!!!!!
How to do that here, who request to???
Not enough stuff getting stickied here, peeps have to trawl thro' full forum to find answers to sometimes repeated questions??
But important stuff certainly should be "stickied".
Anyone else agree....and how to get a result on this???

A little late in reading this post but I also bought my Galaxy W from Ebay. Samsung user agreement states that the phone is guaranteed for 2 years after the date of sale and the agreement is transferable between owners. In other words it doesn't matter who originally bought it but is guaranteed for 2 years and our phone is still less than 2 years old. I know this as had to send mine back and they accepted it.

Unable to install back Sys App after removal

Hi!
First, I would like to give thanks to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317394 for a quick guide on rooting my new Samsung galaxy GT-I8150.
My problem
Because my device is now rooted, I was able to uninstall the built-in Music app using Super Manager. But before that I managed to backup the installer using Norton Utilities, the file is Music_1.1.1.apk. I did it on purpose because I thought I could install it back without hassle like other app on the market. Now my phone does not allow it to be installed anymore.
Can anyone help me on this?
Thanks in advance
Hi, may i know are you using stock rom?? If stock rom,all the program is odexed, and it cant simply put back. You should look for "system app remover" to do this,as inside got backup function.

I did the same thing before with MyFiles on stock ROM. My advice is don't you ever look back or you need to reflash you phone.
Hello jamestts!
Thank you for your reply!
I'm new to android technology so forgive me I don't know what a stock rom is. But you mentioned about odexed. I noticed that every apk file on my /system/app has a corresponding odex file. Will that make sense?
Yes...if you r using stock rom,all the file is odexed. If u wanna get back ur music.apk, the best way is flash with odin 4.43 ,lower version might brick ur phone. Do some research be4 flashing. Be patient. If u wanna know which firmware u using now,you can dial *#1234# at dial pad. Then you can download ur firmware from sammobile.com . If u interested in custom firmware which is faster,u can always go to developer forum.

I tried to flash my phone using Odin 4.43 with ASIA ROMS, and it was successful. The music app has returned to its place. Seems like I really had a hard reset of my phone. Thanks to you jamestts. But a new problem arises. Sometimes when my phone has returned from Idle, the display is messy. There's an intense brightness with vertical stripes on it. If I turn the display off and then on then suddenly the display is back to normal.
And I think the device volume becomes weaker, android version has been downgraded from 2.3.6 to 2.3.5
Any Idea on how to resolve this issue?

hi there, glad you make it!!!
try install cwm recovery and wipe cache n dalvik cache then reboot. Try to do it twice and see how is it!!! remember is wipe cache and dalvik cache. DO NOT WIPE DATA....else it will factory default again!!
if after restart and still got the same problem, then i suggest restore to default.
OR change wallpaper!!!
it doesnt matter whether you upgrade or downgrade the firmware version. cause i have updated to newest malaysia version which is 2.3.6 then downgrade to cow firmware first version 2.3.5 .
try and see will solve your problem or not. cause i never facing this kind of situation. good luck to you.
I Immediately followed the link provided by yewsiong and flashed the latest firmware. I think my phone is more stable now, it's good as new.
Thank you guys for helping me out. I really learned a lot.
Thank you so much!!!

Note II stuttering, lagging and turning off when locked.

Bought this second hand Note II (NO WARRANTY) which had a 'modified' status, I first used this guide to remove that status and reset the binary counter and remove the root- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2339704.
Ever since I have done this my Note 2 has been experiencing issues, these issues consist of noticeable lag(when starting up the Samsung start up logo lags) and this is most noticable in the camera when moving it fast it lags up (see video), also when locking the device it sometimes shuts down and to restart it I have to hold the power button. I have another Note 2 next to me with everything stock and this one does not have these issues.
Now, I have flashed stock firmware onto the device several times in an attempt to fix this problem, I have also flashed a Custom ROM (Omega) onto it in an effort to resolve my issue, to no avail. I have also cleared the cache, reset to factory settings through the Android menus and Recovery mode, I have also tried to find out if it is an issue such as SDS(sudden death syndrome) I have followed this guide in an attempt to fix it (http://www.roytanck.com/2013/06/04/note-2-update-sudden-death-syndrome/) and I have now found out that my note 2 has an insane chip.
Honestly this whole ordeal is driving me mad, but I dont have a spare phone until I sort this out so im here for the long haul!
Please help!!!
EDIT: It was working fine, before I attempted to remove the modified status.

no i didnt i only wiped it after flashing trying to solve the s note problem, my phone is really tilting and i dunno what to do, tried reflashing and wiping multiple times but no use!
If you come from custom rom, then wipe data and cache partition is required before flashing stock roms. Else some part of last roms remain in system and can create problems.
You can also try by clear data of snote from application setting section.

i had same kind of problem with s note after flashing it with a custom ROM in my gtn 8000. It troubled me alot but finally got the solution by installing languages in keyboard setting.
go to setting>language and inputs >click on settings of Samsung keyboard>choose Handwriting> choose Input languages
u will see lot of languages to download.
download any one of them........................ wait for finishing installation...
Hope it works for u as it did for me.
if does nt work no hard feelings..
I had the same issue, reloaded firmware, clear data and cache with no fix. I thought about to do a factory reset, but just b4 I was going to do it. I suddenly have an idea just flashed in my mind. This is what I did.... go to setting > my device > S pen > put a check mark on the "Open Popup Note when the pen is detached". Then back to the home screen, pull out the S pen and a mini S note will open. Close it and now you should be able to open the regular S Note. It works on my Note 2. Good luck guys.

The phohe has low memory. Its normal when sometimes you got soft-reboot. But after 10seconds, its unsually.
When its soft problem the steps are:
- factory reset (when it not helped do next step)
- go to download mode and flash your rom via odin (when it not helped do next step)
- get root and uninstall bloodware (when it not helped do next step)
- try custom rom (when it not helped its probably hardware problem)
When its hardware problem the steps are:
- maybe is bad connection between battery and mobil, try to remove battery and give back (when it not helped do next step)
- maybe is bad battery , try new one or from other Ace II mobile (when it not helped do next step)
- I don't know , buy new mobile. ( this step must help you)
