I'm running liquidsmooth rc8 with a touchwiz launcher and I just flashed the ASDK 4.1 final earlier. Everything was running fine until I went to send a msg and I'm holding the phone upright but it goes into landscape mode. When I turn it sideways it goes into portrait mode. I did a reboot, toggled auto rotate on and off and back on and it would fix itself for a minute then go back to the problem. Anybody else had this or know of a fix?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Anybody? It never had this problem before I installed the ASDK kernel. However it wasn't right away with the new kernel. It was a few hours after I installed it

Try flashing the fix in this thread it should work idk why its not included in the kernel though http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779819

THANKS!!!
I tried it, and even pluged it in before a reboot but nothing shows up on screen. I see a little flickering, but nothing else.
Also, are you placing "com.qc.hdmi_out" under "Property Name" or "property Key"?
you may want to add "true" o your directions, they are not specific.
Thank you for your efforts none the less! This is a great step in the right direction. :good:

tried this and it worked. only issue that remains for me is when the MHL cable loses power or is unplugged, the only way to re-initiate the hdmi-out sync is with a reboot of the device. anyone know of a way to manually trigger a resync?
Can anyone post a flashable fix for this, I am at my uncles house and was planning on watching a movie with my cousins and then I realized my jb ROM doesn't have mhl support :/

For me, setting "ro.hdmi.enable=true" does the job. I tried your com.qc.hdmi_out line also, but found that I had difficulty getting consistent results, but devices may differ. ROMs earlier than 10.0.0 Stable often crashed after using HDMI, after pulling out the cable, even though the video worked well up till that point. But recent ROMs seems to be stable for me.
It is a frustration for me that those who (probably) know about the deeper aspects of this issue (why it was never turned on in the default configuration) never comment on it, so those who want it to work spend lots of time fiddling with it. On the teamhacksung site, a statement was made that it will never work because it involves proprietary code, but that was some time ago, so who knows? The fact that it works well seems to suggest that all the needed code is present and functional, so the mystery is why it is never addressed by the developers explicitly, or turned on by default, or have a setting to turn it on as Galaxy S had.

Hey guys. So my phone is having problems with WiFi not turning on, it will turn on sometimes but just stays at the Gray slider saying WiFi is turning on. I'm not a noob with android . But is this a hardware problem? I was on stock ICS rooted and tried cm10.1. I didn't try Odin yet tho. Thanks.

Doesn't sound like a hardware issue. First thing I would try is wiping data, cache and system in recovery and re flashing your rom. If that doesn't work, I would definitely try Odin.
Yeah I tried all of that. I hope its not a hardware issue because it turns on sometimes. I'm going to try Odin soon

Going from ICS to JB can do funny things when doing it through recovery. Not all partitions are overwritten using recovery, so you still have some ICS stuff there. It's always best to use Odin when going back and forth between different bases, if possible.

Youd of done better by posting this is the rom thead.
This is caused by having ripple effect enabled in lock screen settings. Turn it off and when phone screen turns off in landscape it will no longer freeze.

in order for the boot animation to work you first need to flash a mod that enables custom boot animations. you'll find it in the OTA updates.

I don't have this issue. Try a full wipe and reflash your rom or try 3.1
Hey folks. I've mostly been a lurker around here for a number of years and never posted but I've recently encountered a problem I can't seem to fix on my own. Here's some basic info.
Galaxy S4 (SGH-M919)
Stock ROM (rooted)
Android 4.2.2
BB Version M919UVUAMDL
Kernel Version 3.4.0_562219
Recovery Clockwork Mod Touch
The problem I'm having is that I have to leave my phone with auto rotation off. If I turn it on, landscape and portrait rotations are 180 degrees off, flipped, upside down, etc etc. I've been searching high and low for some way to fix this and no dice! Please let me know what I can do. I have tried accelerometer recalibration and a few apps but I just can't get it to work right.I would like to avoid a re-wipe. I finally have everything just right. Wipes irritate the heck out of me because I guess Clockwork Recovery can't access backups on the external SD card? Ugh.
Problem: flipped screen, camera up side down, camera flipped, screen 180, screen upside down. Reverse portrait, reverse landscape.
Fix: Had bad kernel. Flashed to a newer ktoonz kernel and it fixed the problem.
BTW: I just realized that my camera is also in fact flipped 180. Sheesh. This is a royal pain.

Im not sure what lernel that is im sorry.just got my s4. But anyhow is it a custom kernel that you flashed? If so make sure you got it from a tmobile thread. Or if you would rather it maybe easier to flash a tmobile kernel such as ktoonz and see if that fixes the issue.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Just figured out its a custom ktoonz kernel. Replaced it with old stock kernel with suid removed and problem seems fixed by my sd card went south when I did. Cant mount it. Copying files off it now.

I am seeing the reversed auto rotation on my wife's GS4(SPH-L720) and it is stock unrooted. She has made no changes to anything! Camera and menu's are upside down. Web pages are upside down. She needs to keep auto-rotation off, just to use it! Others online with the same problem have been doing factory resets with no luck. One person did 3 or 4 factory resets and still has the same problem. My rooted GS4 is ok (so far) but hers (not rooted) is driving her nuts. She will never root hers (and would be angry with me if she knew mine was rooted). Any help at all would be appreciated.

If it is stock and unroofed the only explanation would be hardware IMO..... There isn't another explanation especially if a factory reset doesn't help it.

Anyone ever have the home, menu, back, and search keys not function properly? Doesn't seem to be an issue with the ROM as I have tried a couple and have the problem on both all of a sudden.
By not function properly, I mean not function at all. Hitting those buttons has no effect.
Any ideas?
