I know this question has been asked in the past but as there was no solution I am posting in the hope of some help.
I replaced my son's cracked digitizer screen (that was working!) with a new replacement screen. The disassembly went well (easy really) and the cracked screen was removed. The new screen was fitted and the assembly went well. All ribbons fittted easily and everything was back in place. I fired on the phone. Everything still fine. When the phone was ready to go I tried to swipe the unlock on screen and ......nothing! The touchscreen was completely unresponsive. I disassembled a further two times in case ribbons were not inserted correctly but still nothing from the screen.
Has anyone attempted the digitizer replacement and encountered this problem and then solved it? Please help my son is so unhappy without his phone.
Theres a chance you bought a faulty digitizer. Your best bet is to buy anotehr xperia off of ebay.

Hey guys, i read through a couple of threads about cacked screens but im still a little confused. i droped my phone and the bottom half of the screen cracked, i can still use the phone without any problems. so do i need a digitizer or new lcd??
digitizer is the glass part that you touch, lcd is the screen itself. If you can see a full picture, then the lcd is fine.

My friend found one off amazon for like $13-15 I can't remember. I looked it up too and it was about the same. He didn't have any issues replacing the glass either. If you have the insurance you might try a sprint store, or a authorized sprint store. I bought a Epic fro ma coworker and it had a cracked screen, took it to the repair place and they did it for free. (after making the phone my wifes main phone)
I just replaced my touch screen/housing (again) and upon booting the phone up and attempting to answer a text message, I find that there seems to be a strip of my digitizer that is dead. Beginning from the height of the QWERTYUIOP line and up about 1/4" is unresponsive to touch. If I scroll horizontally or try to press in that space, I get nothing. Vertical scrolling will stop in that area and resume once I go past the dead space. I even turned on "show touches" in the dev menu and no touches are registered the space while on the lockscreen or any other part of the ROM.
I applied a ZAGG Invisible Shield screen protector prior to installing the digitizer but I see no reason why that would adversely affect the digitizer.
What are the chances that I received a DOA digitizer? I'm guessing 100% but any input will be greatly appreciated.
Why did you replaced your digitizer sir? Does it have the same issue? Try to remove the screen protector, and clean the screen for moisture or dust. And try to recalibrate it. And is the replacement digitizer genuine? If none of these work, then maybe you really bought a DOA digitizer. Hope that has warranty. Good day.

I replaced it because I cracked the other one. The cracked digitizer worked perfectly, it was just cracked.
I even took it back apart after installing the new one and made certain the flex cable was connected properly. I assume it isn't oem as I bought it from an eBay dealer. Don't know where I'd find an oem digitizer. I've already contacted the seller and they said to send it back and a replacement part or refund would be issued pending their confirmation that the problem exists. I just wanted to get a second opinion on whether it was doa or if there was something I missed. Thanks.

Hello everyone,
the screen of my N7 2013 cracked after his first fall on the ground... the tablet still worked but the touch screen was unresponsive, so I decided to replace it and bought a new screen and digitizer. I replaced it following youtube tutorials but the new touch screen was unresponsive. I thought the replacement i bought was faulty, so I wrote to the seller who refunded me. So I bought a SECOND lcd+digitizer replacement, from a different seller. Same story: after replacement this second digitizer is totally unresponsive too.
I checked connections so many times with no luck. I can't believe that I bought TWO broken digitizers from two different sellers. I don't think I broke something else working on replacement (but I cannot be sure ).
So I'm wondering if there is any possible software cause for this touch screen behaviour... is there something I can still try to do before throw away the tablet? Anyone can help?
Thank you!

You only replaced the touch screen or also the daughter board? Is there any revision number on the screens/cables?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
I only replaced digitizer and lcd, daughter board was the original one (rev 1.4).
The old digitizer had a sticker with a qr code and some numbers on it, and another code printed on (see pic ..935).
I found no reference for these codes on google, the qr code gives no results.
The new digitizer has no sticker and no codes printed, only a printed mark displaying "cx 2015-1" (I think it's a seller's mark).
On lower part, where circuits and cable are, the original digitizer shows two other numbers (see pic ..942).
New digitizer shows two numbers too, smaller one (ME050111) is the same, except for last two numbers (original digitizer has "01", new digitizer has "12"). The biggest number (343308Q in the pic) is completely different on the new digitizer.
Hey All, I dropped my G3 and cracked the screen, it had big black patches on the LCD as well and the digitizer only worked on parts of the LCD. I sent to a local company for a new full front assembly. On receiving my phone back I saw that they did not replace the full front but only the LCD/digi/glass. I told them this was not what we agreed on and they said they would order the correct part and refit it. 2 weeks later and they closed up shop and disappeared off the face of the earth.
I thought I'd just live with the damaged frame as the screen worked now and my phone was back in action...
A few weeks later this started happening: https://youtu.be/CUinue0obyA
I've stripped the phone down and checked the connections to the LCD but they seem fine, the only thing that looks damaged is the metal tape over the LCD connectors, could this cause the issue, or did I just get properly shafted?
Do you think its fixable?
It seems like a software issue but I might be wrong, try flash a new kdz onto see if that works.
Hey guys
so.. I had the usual touch screen issues which seemed to come and go.. I tried to open the back of the case with my bare hands to re-seat the cable and i managed to crack the screen AND digitizer
Ive now replaced the screen and digitizer with a cheapie off ebay and about 3/4 of the touch screen works now, the top and left edge areas don't work!!!
its a different issue to what i had originally which was just phantom presses, do you think its a dodgy digitizer, i need a new cable or maybe Ive just installed the digitizer wrong? personally i thought i did a really good job.
cheers
