I could charge the phone normally yesterday, but now the charger seems to not work. I didn't touch it since the previous charging so nothing physically could've happened to it. I tried another phone's charger (with micro usb) and it works, so I can safely confirm that the charger is the issue.
The charger has been leaking air for quite some time so I suspected it may be an issue, but people here said that it's alright. Maybe it was the issue after all?
Is there any way to fix it, or will I have to buy another charger?
Your best bet is to get a compressor and fill it back up with air. jk. I bought three or four of those cheap chargers on Amazon for a few bucks a piece, they work fine.

But I wasn't joking with the air leaking. When I disconnected the charger from the socket it was always hissing like air is leaking.
Anyway, I guess I'll have to buy a new charger.

That has always been the problem with those compressed chargers lol. I actually just realized what you are talking about, I think. I remember now that I stopped using the official charger that came with the Gnex almost immediately, because whenever it was plugged in it was making a high pitch sound that was sooo annoying. That must be what you are talking about. And if so, and you are not hearing that high pitch sound anymore, it would make sense that its because the charger does not work anymore. Like I say, the cheap ones work good, no need for a $15-20 charger if you can get one for $5.

Hey everyone,
I'm planning on buying a car charger for my phone soon as I take a lot of road trips and now that I finally have a phone with navigation I thought this would be really handy to have.
My question is: What is the best cell phone charger? What should I be looking for? I hear that some chargers can burn out the battery if left in for too long.
Also, I'd like a charger that would be able to power my ipod as well.
Thanks!

I was browsing around and saw this one:

Look in the captivate general thread for this discussion ...
Why would this be in general? this is an accessory is it not..?
the only thing I can say about that is ...

The answer your question is there regardless.
The answer to your question is a bit more involved than yes or no, and involves USB standards.
Perhaps it should be moved ... not my call to make.
i just bought this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230503161988
for $8 not bad
I got mine free from Wal-mart when I bought my captivate and it does a good job of charging it.

Got this same exact one and a blackberry micro usb charger. Works great.
For the love of God don't cheap out... Been there, done that, don't waste the $$$.
Cables that work for $1.70:

A quality Griffin charger for $11.50:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001Q2FM5E/ref=oss_product
You haven't by chance verified that the $1.70 cable fits well in the Captivate slot?
I only ask because I have a mini-to-micro USB adapter I'm using with a mini USB cable right now and it appears to fit in fine. Unfortunately in reality the plastic around the male piece blocks it from slotting in fully and I have to fiddle with it to ensure it's in well enough to charge. Moving the phone in the slightest can dislodge it and sever the connection.
I'd like to buy this cable to work with my current home/car USB chargers but wanted to make sure it wouldn't have the same issue.
I can't post a URL yet so replace x's with t's to see my illustration: hxxp://imgur.com/TCi5h.jpg

Yea... I've used them to both sync and charge my phone and they work fine.
Moving the phone around won't cause it to come out.
Thanks, most appreciated!

It's not the over charging that's the problem, it's the functioning
AT&T not as good as Samsung
I bought the AT&T branded Captivate car charger at the AT&T store, but I've noticed that it doesn't fit into the phone's slot as smoothly as the wall charger that came with the phone. Because of battery power decrease problems, I've just ordered another wall charger from the Samsung website (for use at work) instead of getting a 'generic' one from AT&T.

I looked at this baby in an AT&T corporate store after popping open the package. There is no indication whatsoever about the mA. Forget asking a store clerk. They look at you like a deer in headlights.
I bought Motorola P513 rapid rate car charger from Amazon and it's perfect fit. Now on sale for $5.85. Btw it's 950mAh.

I just bought a random car lighter plug with a USB slot, and use my cable that came with the phone in the car. Its a little long but its the only one that fits well. I use my cable from an old bb in the house. Cheap iPhone car mount and that charger looks fairly nice

I've got a griffin powerjolt dual ... works like a champ. I do not believe that it is a rapid charger and that it only puts out the USB2 standard 500mA per port. I personally do not like rapid chargers as I've seen problems with them in the past ... but ymmv.

I just got mine as well. Fits right in. The glowing Motorola logo is kind of annoying though.
So, after having the WiFi XOOM since launch day I have played with the device to no end, charged it a handful of times or so and have excellent battery life on the device even OC to 1.5 GHZ.
The question I pose here though is if anyone else has these two minor but annoying problems with their XOOM charger. Upon plugging the male pin into the female port on the XOOM the connection is VERY loose and pulls out with the flick of the finger or a gentle movement. This annoys me due to the fact that I like to know my device is secure and plugged in. Say it came out at night while I was asleep and fell into a cup of water (rare chance, but still a possibility) I would probably be a little upset.
The second problem is the male plugs of the charge to female power outlet. This is also one of the cheapest feeling designs I have ever seen for a device that costs $600. This part pulls out with even more ease which is alright I guess at times, but once again I like to fight to get stuff unplugged, I at least know it is in there snug and will not be unplugged by my dog wagging his tail (this actually DID happen the other night while working on some new apps and testing).
Call me grumbles if you want, but if one of my $20 phones that also comes with a charger is stabler than a $600 device I have a bit of a problem with that. My question is if anyone else is having this problem or if this is a controlled case?
Best Wishes.
I can't stand it either. If you move it when its plugged in it comes out
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
Mine's extremely loose also. My $20 candy bar phone has a better charger connector than my $600 tablet just like you said.
I am using the standard dock to charge at work, so I really haven't noticed an issue. I do have another charger at home, but rarely use it.

Just got back from glastonbury at the weekend with a dead phone and though investing in a portable charger may be a good idea.
Does anyone have any positive experiance with a charger that they would recommmend?
The veho pebble seems quite good (5000mah) but costs around £35, i dont mind paying this but would rather hear some positive reviews first. Sadly all the reviews i can find seem to be written by the manufacturer :S
Any but...
I have found that any will work, but usually you get what you pay for...
ordered a zaggsparq, seems to get good reviews
has a 6000mah capacity and 2 USB ports to charge devices.
Ill leave some feedback after using it a few times

That didn't work for me. I have a very cheap charger (similar to the one that came with my Milestone, you just plug it in and connect the USB-cable to it and your phone) that does *not* work for the phone (it does for my iPod, though).
The "funny" thing is: using it to charge my phone (or at least try) will switch the phone's "charging" light on but no power every reaches it.
Gave me a hard time thinking my phone (or at least the battery) was broken until I found out ...

I want a wireless charger for my phone because I'm always picking it up and putting it back down on my desk. I'm kinda sick of plugging and unplugging it, so a wireless charger would be nice. Thing is, I don't want one that's going to beep at me every time I pick it up or put it down and it's hard to tell from Amazon reviews if a particular charger does this or not.
Any suggestions?

The Nokia DT-900 works a treat with the N5, even with my Diztronic TPU case. Only thing is, since 4.4.2 (I think) the phone automatically makes a beep when you begin charging it. Only way to disable this is through an Xposed module, which you can find here: http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.eldarerathis.xposedmodule.wirelesschargingxposed
It's a nice little app that lets you customise how the screen behaves when you begin/finish charging, and whether you want a sound played or not.
Hope that helps.

The verizon LG pad works, but does have a beep. I cut the speaker out on that one. It's a great charging pad other than the modding I had to do lol.
The Tylt Vu, orb, and Nexus wireless charger all do not beep, however, the phone does chime if your phone is below 95% in battery level. Just a FYI.

Pretty much any Qi charger except the ones shaped like a "Hockey Puck" won't beep. Those are the only ones I've seen so far that have a speaker built in to the charger pad.
The phone will also make a connection sound as well. Unless you have your phone on silent.
Just look for a Qi charger that has a 1A (1000mA) Output and you're good to go. The lower the mA output, the slower it will charge.

I can vouch for this. No beep whatsoever. Only a very white light when charging.
We all know the 10 sadly uses Qualcomm quick charge. Would a USB c complaint 10ft cable bother the phone as long as it's the stock charger? https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B016ZYUEVE/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Whenever its charging the charging block whines like bloody murder sometimes. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't damaging the charger or the phone.
Edit: buzzes with stock cable too, just not as loud.
I don't see why that cable wouldn't work it's got the resistor so it can't pull way too much from the charging end.

Yeah it was on the list, that's why i got it. Should I be worried the charger buzzes like that? Because it does it with the stock cable too, just takes a few mins. If everyone else's charger buzzes like that too, then fine, but otherwise...

Doesn't buzz with mine. I have tons of chargers but none of them buzzed on me. I recommend you get that exchanged.
I have some F-Color cables 2m/6' that I use with the Quickcharger... haven't had an issue. Apparently Amazon will only sell cable that stringently meet the USB Type C standard, so buy from them if you're not sure.

Would this cable be sufficient? I need a second cable to carry around with me and I really don't want to pay HTC $20 for another one. I just want to make sure I don't damage anything before I buy it.
