Stop automatic PRL updates on GB27 ?? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Does anyone know how to stop the automatic PRL updates when running TW roms. I have looked around some but can't seem to find any info.
I am hoping there is a file that can be removed or renamed or maybe change permission or ownership of something to block the action. Seems to me if whatever is missing from AOSP roms could be duplicated... Any help or ideas would be great. All I wanna do is keep my 11119. LOL
Thanks

How frequently does this happen? Yikes. I have only seen it happen when I do a profile update if even then.

Actually it's happened once since I came back to TW, and yea maybe i did do a profile update. But that's only been a week. Guess I'll see how frequently before knocking myself out four a fix. Don't think it happened the whole time i was on the Kuban either. I've mostly been on Black Bean the last couple months. Maybe just a fluke but still knowing for sure it won't update would be nice.

I've never had that happen. Unless I flash certain ROMs and only does it on first boot.

The only time I had an auto PRL and Profile update was when I changed my number. Other than that, never had it auto update.

Epic PRL internal update error?

Anyone else getting an error while trying to update their PRL? I keep receiving an "internal error" and since I'm away from a computer, I won't be able to manually update it OR find a thread already similar to this :/ any suggestions/fixes for this anyone? Today's 5 thanks goes to the 1st one that can help me out

It has been said doing Noobnl's EFS clear of the modem fixed this for some people. It is a communication error between your phone and Sprint. So the EFS clear reactivates the phone. I will find a link to the thread.

Did it work for you?
This didn't work for me, but I got a new min from sprint and it has worked perfectly since

Nope, I tried but didn't seem to help. Keep getting the same error dnt know exactly what caused it since I was able to properly update my PRL without any troubles whatsoever about a day ago. U think a logcat might tell me what's wrong?

I don't think there would be enough information in the logcat but try it. It may just be a Sprint error in your neighborhood. It may fix itself in a day or two. You can also try Odining back to straight stock and see if it works. When mine would get the same error...for months...magically one day it worked and did for a lot of people. It was a Sprint network error then.

I also tried Odining back to stock the other day as well an it didn't help either. Still get the same internal error. I was also wondering if this might be on Sprint's network and not my Epic. I mean I can update it manually when I'm @ home near my computer so its no big deal but...I would really enjoy being able to update it easily over my Epic again.

I was about to start a thread on this. Maybe it's not my phone. I am unable to update my profile, prl, or any other update. A soon as I check for an update the wifi or 3G icon disappears, and the update check fails.

It sounds like it might be, and area related. Mine still updates. They could be updating some towers and network near you and that server is down which has the PRLs and Profiles. The average Sprint tech won't know, you will probably need to be on Tier 3 tech.
I just tried updating mine and got the same error. It has never failed for me in the past so I would guess it's a network issue. We had some strong winds here last week that made my service a bit screwy, so maybee they are just doing some maintenance.
Edit: I just tried it on my girlfriends epic after posting this and it worked on her phone. Tried again on mine and got the same error. We are both running the same setup. Hmm...

Yes. I have 2 Epics on my account and 1 would update fine but mine would not until the day Sprint fixed the network problem. Drove me crazy for awhile trying to figure out the differences in the phone. So probably still a Sprint error. You could call them and have them go through reactivation to see if it makes any difference.

It's really not a huge deal, I live in a pretty decent service area and rarely need to roam. I was just trying it out to give some input here.

I have also had this issue for about two or three months. In that time, I've used EF02, EH06, and back to EC05. Modems were updated accordingly to match.
Currently running SFR 1.2 + Genocide 2.0 + EG22 modem. I've tried both flashing via CWM and ODIN back to stock EC05 (and EC05 modem) without restoring anything, still no go. My brother Epic (always been stock EC05, with root) updates PRL and profile just fine.
EDIT: After about 1 hour with Sprint, I had to re-ODIN to EC05. I finally got re-activated after yet another hour with Sprint. And despite that, still the issues with PRL/Profile. Will probably take it in tomorrow, no use in restoring my old setup yet.
I wiped my modem then had sprint re activate it. Was perfect for a week then now I'm unable to update prl or profile. Same error internal error. I also just restored a nandroid and then reflashed the rom entirely trying to fix this. I also updated the prl manually hoping that would allow me to update profile and such again but nope. It must be on sprints side. I also was gonna make a thread about this lol

With all the text messaging, MMS and prl errors suddenly popping up along with Sprint's promise to improve their network through October I believe it is a Sprint network error and will clear up by end of month.

ODIN back to Stock
This was a problem for months for me as well.
After flashing several ROMs and kernels, and different GB leaks, I decided to go back to 100% stock. My phone came with Eclair 2.1 out of the box, so I found that and ODIN'd to it.
I let it do the OTA update to EC05 Froyo and was able to update my PRL to 60681
I can't explain why, and it may have been a coincidence with Sprint's network, but ODIN'ing the phone back to stock that way seemed to fix it. I've flashed a few Froyo-based ROMs and haven't had an issue since.

Modem Issues Since ICS Update

Hey guys,
I was wondering if I can use the EL29 modem with ICS. I have had many issues with ICS and my phone, with the stock ROM and three other custom ROMs. I even had trouble with FH13 and FF18. I had many problems with my GPS not working and I had problems not receiving calls or being able to make calls.
I had to go back to GB in order to get my phone working. Which I like GB but I had to update to ICS to stop getting the annoying update notification.
Anyways, anyone else have this trouble. After talking to Sprint's super nerd tech support, I am 100% positive that my phone just hates anything but EL29.
You can use any modem you like on any build, whatever gets you the best results.

Thats good to know that I am not the only one. I would run GB still if it wasn't for the OTA update constantly spamming me to upgrade. No matter what I did it was either trying to download all the time killing my battery or it was telling me to install every ten minutes.

Update PRL and Profile w/out Signal

Is it possible to update the prl and profile w/out signal (not even roaming signal)? I'm wanting to flash an older modem to my phone to see if it helps w/ signal where I live. From what I understand, you need to update these for the new modem to take effect. Right? So! Is there an established way of accomplishing this task?
PRL can be manually pushed but flashing the same PRL thats already on your phone (you probably have the latest) will not make any difference. Not so familiar with profile on that note.

As long as its the latest it shouldn't need to be updated. 60690 was the last one i did but im not on touchwiz firmware so I can't update as regularly. PRL if out of date can make a difference.
I guess that answers my question. I'll just go ahead and start tryin out modems. Thanks for helping me out.

PRL versions are location dependant. Your version will be totally different from someone across the country.

While I have seen some newer versions pushed to certain locations it also seems like 60690 and the one before it was common everywhere? Its kinda silly to not have a country wide PRL now that I am sure devices could store it easily. But yeah you hear people talking about receiving one in a specific state or area all the time. As many people who travel on sprint's network it must suck to have to update PRL everytime you land to get the best service.
I just remember when 60690 was pushed, seemed like we had every state check in that they were on it..

[Q] Imperium Rom, WIFI not working

Apparently I'm not authorized to say that my wifi isn't working in the developer section, so I'll put it here. Wiped everything, tried to update PRL and Profile immediately after reboot, but it keeps say "authentication error." I'm on Imperium 2.0.1. Am I missing anything obvious?
Wait a while and try? My Prl and profile don't do anything to WiFi though. Or so I believe.

Yeah, I will try again a little later. I guess I don't think the PRL or profile affects wifi either, I just threw that in in case someone said something about following the installation directions. If that's what the major cause of these wifi issues are for folks I'm going to pull out my hair. I've flashed back to v9 stock and walked my phone through every step about 15 times now trying to find the issue and could never duplicate it.

New Update

I am already on KK 4.4.2, but this morning I woke up and looked at my phone and the screen was on with a system message that the "Updated was completed successfully". However, there was no other info on what update was applied. Anyone else just get some kind of update? Not sure if it was firmware, or just some software update. It certainly didn't affect the KK version as that is all still listed as being the same.

No it wasn't an app update. It was a system message popup like you get when a service force closes or a new OS update is ready to be installed.
Profile update maybe? Sprint RDF site is still at ZVC so I doubt it was a firmware update. I mean I could be wrong and it could be a limited test and you could have been a lucky winner.

That's possible. I can't seem to find what was updated so maybe it was just some profile update or something similar, Maybe some updates to Sprint services they pushed out. Not sure at this point. Typically I only get the system update pop up when it's something like a firmware/profile/etc type of update. Normal app updates just show up in the status bar and don't give me a system pop up.
I just wish I knew what it was for.

In one of the threads in the Sprint Forums.
Normally reps beat around the Bush, but in one of the threads complaining signal quality, a rep said May 31.
I'm guessing it's for the 3G/4G switching issues, and there was no mention of Knock Code though.
Yeah, um... never ... and I mean ever.... listen to service reps... lol.
There are numerous bugs since 4.4.2 released. Bluetooth reporting battery drain when off, LG backup is buggy, auto brightness still crappy, and.some other things.
The 3g/4g switching issues are network related. You can get all the updates in the world and until the network updates are finished its just something we have to live with. They could certainly disable band 26 and 41 on phones that dont have it in their area yet but we can do that ourselves so sprint wont bother.
