Bring back Blazer ROM 4.1 please... JB is nice and all, but Blazer ROM on GB is by far the best ROM I have ever used. Unsurpassed battery life, GPS always locked in fast, and more. I have tried to find it (and I'm not the only one) but you can only find the ICS version, and the GB one all has dead links. If anyone has it or knows where to get it, you'd deserve many, many beers my friend.

what kind of batt did you get on it? I get 4hr screen on time with 8 hour standby. comparable to GB. and no, I don't do "tweak placebo" crap. just am conscious of how not to drain it...
obviously much more standby with less screen ontime...

Haha no, I'm a Michiganian!
You can try this cuz i was a fan of blazer rom ..flash calkulins 3.0 rom, then in the forum theres a blazer rom tweak pack that td made ..which gives u the same effect that blazer did ..i would also use the gunslinger kernel and it would get u amazing battery life ..
I tried this cuz i liked calkulins work and also liked phantomhackers as well ..so mesh the two was an awesome idea
If u choose to try this, flash calkulins rom first...wait till u boot up home screen then reboot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik then flash the tweak pack cuz if you do all this in one session it causes a boot loop

That sounds awesome! Do you have links? I'm at work and searching on my phone is quite the pain...
Calkulin's E4GT v.3.0 would give me an easy 18 - 20 hrs, when the screen was off the phone was in a coma. Have a Ics blue theme for it also.
Wife's phone rocked Calk's until last week, when jb dropped.
So far so good on jb.

With the latest JB - GB27, there are people getting DAYS of battery life! Search the threads and look for something that will work for you.
Last cycle I even checked I had 20 hrs with 40% left and 35% of that screen time.

I've given all ics roms a chance, no disrespect to the devs, they made it a lot more enjoyable. It's just that it's based on unofficial leaks and I'd rather have everything workig rather than finding out what's broke in a situation where i need it.

I flashed about 5 different EL29 roms and haven't flashed ics once.Because i know that ics is nowhere near ready yet and there isn't cwm for it yet.
The whole procedure is tricky(i can do it),flashing cm7 and then ics.And to go back to gb is think Odin i best bet if you don't want a brick.
Once there is stable ics and stable cwm for ics so i can flash different roms(without flashing cm7 first) then i will make that move. But i ditched Sprint and flashed to Virgin Mobile and i don't have warranty anymore to fix Epic if it bricks.

Battery life in low signal areas. Certain incompatibility in some apps. (words with friends, for example.) And scrolling.
It really depends on ur needs. I agree that the ICS leaks are a lil flaky. I appreciate what the devs have done and all, but now ive moved on to asop cm9. It is ridiculously smooth! And notifications work perfectly. I dont use gps, i rarely use camcorder anyways. Although these deficits are ok with me, others so not much.

Honestly my main reason is due to all the constant updates. I personally tweak each ROM I run as what I want isn't readily available and I can do the work myself to make the build I am after. I get one done and a new one pops out. Which is great and frustrating at the same time. The fact that not everything is out for it either puts a damper on it too. Like a hotspot hack for the latest builds. I don't blame any of the devs for not keeping it updated as once they do update it another build comes out. That is a lot of work. Just moving PNG's around is a ***** much less coding framework files. It is little things that will take source for people smarter then me to fix. As far as issues I really haven't had a lot of them. The battery and scrolling can be aggravating. The notification sounds is a little annoying too but easily dealt with. But mainly I just would rather run a complete build now. Gather my PNG's and such and then once a final build is out. Make the one I have been waiting for.
I've been doing a lot of research regarding custom Sprint GS3 ROMs as I'm finally getting my GS3 today.
I really want something Jelly Bean based, but only if it's really not too buggy. CM10 looks sick but there still seem to be many bugs. I don't know much about AOKP.
What about non Jelly Bean? Is Blazer the best? At the very least something that gives me extra features and a longer battery life is preferred over stock. I still have to do reading regarding how to update ROMs without losing user data etc.
Anyways, can users of those three ROMs describe what problems they run into during regular daily usage? If the only bugs are minor or wouldn't affect me I don't mind using the ROM while the kinks are being worked out.
Thanks!
A true flashoholic would try them all

Haha I'm trying to NOT become a flashaholic. Back when I first got an iPod Touch (1st gen) and after that an iPhone 3G, 3GS, and 4, I was really into jailbreaking and it got pretty annoying after a while so I stopped. I just want Jelly Bean because it seems so much smoother than ICS.

Man, this GS3 is so shiny
Now I really just want to avoid having to constantly flash my ROM, since I assume doing so will wipe alll of my apps/settings. Is that the case, or is such information stored in such a way that if I flash to a new ROM my apps and media are still intact?
Also I'll look into FreeGS3 more. I'm itching for Jelly Bean, but I don't think CM10 is usable enough yet for me.

I would agree with this. I've flashed most of the ROMs out for the SG3 and i've enjoyed Blazer the most. It's simple, easy and perfect for my needs. The other ROMs i've flashed are great as well, I just don't have the desire to have a theme on my device. What's important to me is a ROM that will run smoothly w/o any latency from my multitasking on the go. Spend a day or week and flash them all, you'll find what you like.. guarantee it.

I've been using/setting up FreeGS3 for the past few hours and it's great. Very smooth and not too far from stock (which I'm kind of indifferent about I guess since this is my first Android phone). Once I get all of my apps/preferences up and running and my media transferred we'll see how it goes.

Awesome, thanks for the reply! Just wondering, can you define 'heavy'? I personally use my phone at school all the time, I listen to music through headphones about 1/2 of my total day(4 hours or so) and I will also spend a lot of time texting, browsing the web, and using apps that use data. I'm honestly constantly on my phone, and will have to charge it around 3 times per day.

Right now I'm on miui trying it out for the first time getting used to no app drawer. Favorite ROM for a daily (if I had one lols) would have to be Living Rejects. I flash it at least twice a week. Its pretty much my goto when I need a good solid dependable ROM for GPS and coverage while traveling. The battery life is effin amazing and music come out really loud and clear. But I will say once our beloved devs get cm10/AOKP/PA etc running solid for jb I will prolly be going back to PA or try out KK again. I love the UK customization options. I ran ICS aokp as a daily until jb started seeping its way into my veins now I'm flashing like there's no tomorrow can't wait for volume bug fix ^^

I run PA 2.54. I love being able to chg dpi per app easily and I am a CM fan. CM10 (which PA is built on) is fast and I get good battery.

I remember trying PA, and I was getting absolutely terrible battery life. Is there something I may have done wrong?

I'm running blazer 4.1 gingerbread I like ics and jb but I always come back to blazer 4.1 gingerbread because to me it is the most stable, faster, and battery life is much much better.

I still use the calkulin v3.0 custom gingerbread rom because it has been the most stable, fastest, and longest lasting, battery life-wise. I recently tried the one-click fk23 jellybean but ran into some problems so I flashed back to calkulin...Gonna try the fk23 again tomorrow though. ;p

I'm running the latest AOKP and don't have any issues. For your battery try downloading an app like better battery stats or something and see what's keeping your phone awake. Is it even going into deep sleep?

Re #2: You can try Embryo. I'm on Embryo 6.11, with UCLL3 radio and getting great battery life. (My experience)
Embryo: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2142932

Be sure to thank the OP!
Re # 4: Some more ROMs which you can try: (am not being partial here. Just naming the ROMs/Devs which I've tried and liked)
Jedi Jelly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2042545
Jedi Knight (ICS): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861009
ASD ROMs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1992318
Somehow, I'm not getting the official T-Mobile 4.1.2 based ROMs to play nicely on my phone! Not blaming anyone, maybe it's just me!

Yeah something is definitely eating your battery, it could be an app that's constantly running in the background. Download what I mentioned above and find out what's draining it so quickly. Also try wiping your caches and see if that helps
