Are you using TrevE Mod's app?
if so uninstall then reinstall don't change any settings and it should work
You can turn on Access Control if needed
Edit: I do have WPA2 PSK encryption working. But, some have reported it's not working for them

No, is his on the market or do I need to sideload it?
Nevermind I found it

Glad you found it ...

I have it installed and I cant seem to locate it when searching from my tablet. Do you have to have a certain kernal in order for it to work

make sure you have busybox installed. Other than that, it has some lame generic SSID name. I changed mine to know which is was. I just don't like I can't disable the broadcasting.

[Q] Tethering only works sporadically...?

Hey Peepz,
I rooted my GS3 and installed WiFi tether. Selected the Samsung Galaxy Nexus profile and the general ICS/JB profile.
The problem is that WiFi tether only works sometimes, so I enable it. work with it. turn it off and maybe 2 or 3 hrs later turn it on again - it says "press to stop tethering" but no WiFi hot spot is visible to my devices (iPad, Laptops, etc). Then i turn tether off, on, off, let it sit there, restart the phone and once ever other try (dozens and dozens of trys) it works.
Is there something I am missing? Btw I have two GS3s and the same happens to the other one as well...
Yeah same here. I have to start stop a few times then I see the wifi network.

Have you seen a pattern? I haven't had much time with the phones yet (approx. 2 to 3 days). I tried turning off WiFi before tethering but have not found a solution yet. are there any other apps I should try? is WiFi tether the only one? It seems like thats the one people are using...
Are you running any custom roms? Native tether works perfect for me. Other than that i think the Wi-Fi tether for root users 3.2 beta is the best after that

Try turning your screen off to 10 min instead of 15 seconds. I tried that and it worked for me. Don't know if you guys are using juice defender but that might be an issue as well.

Oh okay native as in the one in more settings. I think the T-Mobile app shortcuts to that. But nvm that doesn't play nice if you're stock rooted. Why not run a custom Rom and use it? I don't have a tether plan and it works fine for me

Same prob. with my Teth.
I got the same problem with my USB tethering. I plug in my CPU, it's working perfectly for 5 minutes, after that, everything stop. Same with my WIFI Hot Spot. Dunno what's the problem ?!? Maybe it will work fine with Jelly B ! Hope it comes fast for videotron.

I was asking the guy i quoted
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Mine works, however after a few minutes, the data craps out. Any suggestions? I'm using the auto profile. If I leave it for a few hours, turn it back on, then it usually works again for a few minutes. Is this something Wind is doing to stop you from using lots of data? I have an unlimited plan.
Do you mine sharing your settings. If I use wifi tether straight out of the box, default everything I'm getting redirected to the Tmob page which says my cost will be $14.95 per. When I change profiles to say Generic Ics/JB and change to channel 6 I still connected to the phone but I get no "internet connection". I've checked ipconfig and of course it shows I've connected to the phone and dhcp has assign me an ip, 192.168. something but I got nothing. Right now I'm fu***ed. I so wanted to call comcast and tell them... well you know!
I still may just pay the $14.95 to Tmob instead of $70 to Comcastm makes sense. Before tmob shut me down I was getting 8-10 down and 1-1.5 up on my lappy thru the GS3!
Any tips or suggestion would be greatly appreciated!
If you get the upsell page then change the user agents. What Rom are you using... why don't you use native tethering? When it says no internet connection... just wait awhile until it reconnects you should get internet after that.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I'm using cm10 nightly and I did use the hotspot option thru the phone to test the speed. I knew Tmob would get wise and block me which they did hence the sell thru page. So I down loaded Wifi Tethering and installed but wasn't too sure about the setting? I also installed the user agent pluggin for Chrome. Then I selected "Chrome on Windows" as my common user agent and here we are.

Are there any specific setting that I need to set, in order for it to work? Is there anything I need to look or check for, to make sure it's all good? Is there anything I CAn download to make it work for sure??

Same here... Wifi tether for root users is what I use for all platforms... GB, ICS, and KB. Reinstall the version I told you to get and do exactly what I said and it should work fine. Don't change anything except phone profile to galaxy nexus CDMA/LTE. When you change the profile in the apps settings it should say toro briefly and disappear. Could always try Fox Fi (If it hasn't been mentioned) should work without Root as well. (I typically don't tether much if at all so cant' really chime in on it too much) i do have a friend who uses it constantly at work with no issues.
Ok either try clear clearing cache and dalvik cache in recovery... Reboot and install the wifi apk and do it again. Our maybe get FoxFi or a Custom ROM with sprint hotspot hacked... If you p.m. i'll give you the best chances for free wifi

Wifi tether app.

FIX!!! EDITED POST!!!!!!! AS OF NOVEMBER 16
WI-FI HOT SPOT FIX!! Encrption enabled!!!
I did it this way and it worked for me. I downloaded this app supersu and installed it with superuser also installed.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...infire.supersu
Apparently the supersu adds more permissions than superuser which helps this app to work. I then opened the modded Wi-Fi tether app and supersu will ask u if to allow this app. Accept it and then try the Wi-Fi tether app. Encryption will not work. I have my settings to the Samsung galaxy S 3. I also changed the network name to something else aside from android tether. I then uninstalled supersu. I then reconnected to the wifi tether app and it works flawless. Again ENCRYPTION WILL NOT WORK.
Dls5375 post has the link to download the modded wi-fi tether app. Hope it helps.

do this:
make sure you have installed busybox( stericson) latest version. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox&hl=es (install the app then enter the app and install modules and then reboot)
uninstall tether modded app, then install superuser(different from superU) from play store( yeah you have to have both superuser and supersu, at least that worked for me).Open superuser, now close it( just hit home button), install modded wifi tether, dont touch anything just hit the start tethering.
Now it will work, rebember not to use encryption just enable acces control and it will be just fine.

Same here, updated to stock JB with superuser access - wi-fi tether is not working anymore.
This was the only reason I needed the superuser. Is it possible that T-Mobile added some service controlling this feature? I think they did this on S1 or S2 phones and we had to freeze that service.
I have just installed the modded wifi tether app that works on JB. I don't know how to upload it here. Send me a message so I can email it to you guys.

Photoshop Touch

Anybody able to get this working? I bought it a while back and have it installed on my tablet. I pulled the APK and put it over on my Note 2, but when I try to install I get this:

Anybody know what might be causing this?
Nevermind, got it working. Bluetooth was messing up the file.
Do a search for the xposed installer. I've used it to change individual dpi on apps if my choice. I changed the dpi of ps touch and can utilize all the tools that were cropped of the screen before using this. It's awesome. I have no use for my Samsung Galaxy tab2 7"now.

Xposed doesn't change the app permanently. It only changes while the app is installed. It implements a mod that tricks the app into thinking that it's a 7 inch tablet at a particular dpi. So The app doesn't get modded. Go get xposed and run it. It's simple.

Look through the thread and d/l the xposed settings app install and open it. There you will see the modules for each app including pstouch. To enable the middle tap on it, Tap"on", Change dpi to 240, resolution to 800x1280 check tablet mode and tap the disc icon at the top. It will prompt you to kill the app, press ok and then launch the app. The first time you change a module, it may prompt you to restart the phone. Go ahead and restart it and launch the apps. I also changed up my gmail and email apps to enable the tablet layout. It's kinda like split screen on the sms app on landscape mode. And I changed YouTube app to enable tablet mode. It's a Lil fancier. Not all apps have tablet layouts.
