Was trying to install the 4.2.2 mms.apk and I deleted my messaging app in the process. I copied the secmms.apk to my computer and get that installed either. So I cant get either one installed.
Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried just running the apk you want?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Idk if it is because its ics or I just need to push it with adb... It just wouldn't install thru file explorer.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
not entirely sure if it's due to the ics update or not...but suddenly avatar matching doesn't work anymore,
has anyone else has this prob?
if it matters I'm rooted and stock

make sure that your contacts are on phone[ deleted from sim card.]
I am not able to delete the sim contacts

Download Contact-sync from the play store and run a full sync, it worked for me
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
it worked for some of my contacts, I think i still need to get rid of the contacts on my SIM card but all the apps i have tried fail.

THIS IS FOR CM9 ONLY!
This apk has the option to turn off voicemail notifications, Aka phantom voicemail.

Delete original phone.apk
Push this to system/app
Profit

Where is the stock phone apk located? I should probably make a titanium backup of it no?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I would rename your original phone.apk to something like "original_phone.apk" instead of deleting it. You never know...

Its located in system/app
You only want to make a back up if you ever feel like getting it back in the future

I tried to install this, did everything right and I was unable to get service on my phone, also going into mobile networks section would crash, luckily I had made a nandroid backup just before doing this. Just a warning
On the Verizon model, there IS NO "phone.apk" in the System/App folder. There is a "SecPhone.apk", but making changes to it makes you lose your Verizon service, both voice and data.
I have phoneerrservice.apk and phonesky.apk, am I removing both?

I think you're talking about the touchwiz phone app. This thread is about the cyanogenmod9 phone app

What I'd really like is a notification that can be dismissed, not sure if that is possible though

I too am coming from a rooted Verizon phone. Is there any known workaround for installing this apk?

How did you install it? Did you use adb and push it to /system/app? Did you use root explorer and copy it to /system/app and then edit the permissions appropriately? Or did you just open the apk to install?
This is for CM9 users only.

I used root explorer and pushed it to system/app and change permissions. After that, I got no service, wifi worked but couldn't make phone calls or send/receive text messages. So I had to restore from Android backup

Are you preparing for the Avengers Movie promotion?
Anyway, since you are rooted (assuming so, because you defrosted with TB), I personally would go and just delete it, then reflash the ROM that you are using. Or you could just extract the apk from a stock rom and then put it in its place in the /system/app directory.
Yes exactly! Getting ready to download Avengers!
Thanks for the info..but dumb/noob question..how do i extract the apk from the stock rom?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Use a zip file manager and navigate to it... I use 7zip.
Or.. forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895997&page=2
Half way down that Page.... Doc Holiday posted the apk.
I got the same problem like you.I use an app called app quarantine and was able to defrost my previously frozen app by titanium.
Give it a try.
Sorry for my bad english

Thanks again for your help guys!
I tried the easier way - using app quarantine - and it worked perfectly!
Thanks..can't wait to get Avengers next week on my phone!!

Try manually moving it to /system/app with a root browser and rebooting after that

Im not rooted. Is that possible?
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
Is what possible? Rooting? Or moving the app to the system apps folder without root? Yes to rooting and is pretty painless, no to moving the app without root

Thanks for the quick responses. Ive rooted before but would prefer to stay stock at the moment. I'm pretty impressed with lgog as is minus the email app.

You set permissions to rw-r-r?
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
Yes, that is how the permissions are set. I notice that every app in that app folder has an odex file to go along with the .apk. do i perhaps need one of those files too?
Or maybe i need to set the servers up manually for hotmail and yahoo. Anyone willing to share those settings?
I know i know why in the heck do i have a hotmail and yahoo account. I use them for junk mail.

Oh yeah stock rom is odexed...here's another option for you. Download the odexed version of OpTimuS ROM and extract the email app and it's odex file and then try pushing those to your system/app folder. I'm on the deodexed version or else I'd do it.

Yeah, that's stock lg. The one Partimusprime game you should be the one you need. Aosp doesn't use odex I'm pretty sure.
