This is here to be a temerary home for RootBox to continue ROM Discussions, A new thread under "Original Development" will come back soon. There is no ETA for this thread so here is one to continue disscussion until there is one.
Lets keep this about disscussions about RootBox and not about what happened to John or the other thread, thank you!
Description
Vanilla RootBox is built straight from RootBox sources and always carries a very light installation with no extra/useless apps. This means, you can enjoy a pure Android experience combined with AOKP/CM features and some CM cherry-picks. Keep in mind Jelly Bean is only at the beginning stage of development and there will be minor bugs. Every RootBox releases are stable and always up to the challenge for a daily usage. I personally have a high standard when it comes to releases and this is why this project always meets the expectations of users. If you're wondering how this ROM differs from any other AOKP roms out there, I only have one thing to say: Try it yourself and choose the one that meets your requirements.

What is the difference with John's version? Also any idea where the setting I asked about would be or if it was removed intentionally?

John's version has PUB goodness.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2

Does anyone know if its possible to disable the led while charging?
Also is anyone able to use Google voicemail integrated with the dialer on the pub version?

Could you add a little bit to that (what is PUB goodness)? I have so many questions coming from my paranoid android gnex...
(Does this have vol keys skip tracks or not?)(Why does wifi tether work on 3g but not LTE?)(April 1st it says he removed xposed app settings but I still see it there).
Also, p.s. I know it says not to talk about it but since I may not be able to get the news from elsewhere, what happened to manelscout4life (just an idea if no details avail)?

PUB= Project Unicorn Butter, meaning super smooth and fast and great on battery!
Key Skips=No
Wifi Tether=IDK, but probably cause you have to actually have a 4G Tether Plan to use it
xPosed=Yes the Per App DPI was in fact removed, the modules portion is still there, just disable it in apps and ou will not see it among your apps but still in settings.
Cannot talk about what happened to John in the forums cause we do not want to piss off anyone and maybe get this thread closed as well, just know it is being worked to get him back, so this thread is the temp until such a time comes along, but he is alive and well and still building, i am just speaking in his place and informing you of updates in which to go download at your pleasure...

I don't think so because my company doesn't even offer a tether plan... I think it was something to do with the firewall is what an internet search is telling me....
Also, my LTE toggle doesn't seem to work, known issue?

This is an ongoing developer project to make way for a modification that will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the experience of your phone. I know you've seen tablet mode roms before, they change two lines in your build.prop file which you could easily edit yourself in seconds and maybe throw a keyboard in there to make it work better. It's a start, but this ain't enough. This thing has potential, but it is wasted the moment you try to stuff a full blown tablet into your poor phone. Yet we all know our high res phones can very well handle more than silly 1-column layouts. So the magic must be in between somewhere, a place that Google must have overlooked and left blank. Yes, this rom strives to drop your device into tablet mode, but it won't stop there, it will reshape and redefine ICS to make it all a usefull addition and not just a cute novelty. we're calling it: Hybrid Mode, best of both worlds.*

v1.5
Built from source - 25/6/2012 - 11:3:12
Improvements on OTA app, scheduled checkups
Improvements on Backup app, now it automatically launches on startup after you install a newer (or older) version
Hybrid speedup, less lag, considerably faster list scrolling when pad/pal is in action
Keyboard scaling, an androids first
PAD/PAL bugfixes for apps that still crop images in lower dpis
Settings revamp, speed preferences to switch between modes without having to set up anything, less clutter
Trebuchet extras: 3x4 widgets, speed dial menu button, ... and some weird rocket button which im sure will be very useful to most of you
Pad.prop revamp, new preferences that should pretty much nail it. Im sorry but this trashes your old settings again, do not attempt to restore them unless you do it in a text editor
v1.4
Built from source, 3:03pm COT. Synced with latest Paranoid sources
Fixed most of the issues with pad & pal, now facebook, whatsapp, keyboards, etc will be shown just fine
PAD/PAL work in phonemode 100%, no weird toggles and stuff like that. you get full tablet apps without caveats
Settings cleanup, most of the garbage dpi options are gone, should be more intuitive - i ask you to not bring your old pad.props though some things changed. if you know what you do take a look and edit by hand
Trashed our LatinIME repo - not needed anymore
Fixed OTA 100%, now it should never hang on 99%
Navbar editor is now hidden on tablet mode ... ups missed that one.

Recent apps improvement on tab mode (bigger preview)
Error where app shows up in the wrong UI will be fixed
Scaling lockscreen dialogs and so on
Removed hardcoded framework values (yay! )
Removed "Global density", if you STILL want to mess with this one with v1.2, you've not even tested a 50% of what this ROM can do.
Fixed a lot of other things on pad & pal, cleaned up sources
Fixed themes crash on tab mode, still crashes sometimes on phone mode. [Seems this one is totally fixed now. Need to test a bit more]
A HUGE amount of fixes, improvements and so, this version should be rockstable.

This is an Android Jellybean 4.2.2 ROM, based on the sources of CyanogenMod10!
I used this ROM on my old Captivate and LOVED it. But I recently got an SGS2 and no Hellybean. So I had to port it for my device.
I then ported it for my friend to use on his d2tmo, and I decided to share it with you all.
All Credits and any Thanks or Donations go to DerTeufel1980 as Hellybean is his baby. (And not the only one, congrats on becoming a daddy.) Allot of this OP is copied direct from his page. And Cyanogen as well, I used his Excellent nightly as base.
Please do not ask in their respective threads for support.
Differences to cm10.1:
- facebook sync integrated
- option to enable high end gfx effects, on lower end devices
- possibility to disable high end gfx effects, on higher end devices
- possibility to activate and customize navigation bar (color of background, glow effect, transparency)
- possibility to customize statusbar (color of background, transparency)
- transparent lockscreen (taken from paranoid android, coded by jesus david)
- edge swipe navigation (ported from sgt7)
- ability to enable tablet_ui (ported from aokp)
- kill-all button at recents panel (ported from aokp)
- task manger button at recents panel (this needs os monitor to be installed, otherwise nothing happens...still wip)
- customizable long-press-back-kill timeout (from 500ms to 3000ms)
- option to use sense4 recents panel --- May be removed?
- pdroid patched, if app installed, reachable at: settings --> system --> security
- added the possibility to search for contacts by nick or company name (with dialpad T9, has to be activated at dialpad settings), cherry-picked from AOKP
- and much more.
BUGS
- None.

Original OP
First build compiled from source with Linaro 4.8.1 has HALO PIE App Sidebar and so much more. Hellybean-Linaro-20130630-d2tmo.zip Ayysir will be building from now on.
Change Log from Hellybean site
Release - 27.06.13
+ merged cm changes
+ added app sidebar from chameleon OS
+ halo related fix to sms app
Hell YEAH.
Nice work mate
Thanks for all the fast input. Camera fix is in OP.
I am trying to keep it as stock Hellybean as possible, and I don't have this device. Which makes this all that much easier. Was porting it for a friend because I love the ROM so much. I added my wallpaper to the 0404 build hope you don't hate it to much
Here screenies of Quicktiles he added today/yesturday.
Next release I'll compile CM10.1 base from source. I already compile Toro, and Hercules, whats one more. Hellybean usually updates every week to 10 days, sometimes more sometimes less. I hope you all like this Port and we can fix any glitches together as I do not own a SGS3. The Bluetooth has me stumped. It's is broken in my Hercules port as well. In base CM10.1 Bluetooth is fine...I don't use BT but I know allot of people do, so hopefully someone here will have an idea for a fix.

I noticed that BT is borked for all CM10.1 (4.2.2) roms in one fashion or another (either BT media doesn't work right or I've had BT Calls just hang up the entire ROM until you shut the handsfree device off). I've seen this behavior in multiple CM10.1 ports for the T999, sadly. You mention this (BT) works fine in CM10.1 base? Are there any known ports of the same that carry this working functionality over?
Great ROM, btw!

Keep getting a random pop up "invalid int Hellybean 20130403". Any ideas what that means?

Means I messed something up lol. I think I know what I did. I need to get myself an SGS3 would make this allot more fun and easier. I will look into it and post a fixed one tomorrow. The idea I had to fix BT was a bad one. Running on too little sleep ATM but I am off and will deal with it when I wake up today.
I woke up and noticed Hellybean had another new release. I ported it over left camera fix in, That popup message should be gone. I do not have the ability to test so please someone let me know.
I just put a d2spr port in OP maybe it will fix BT. Again, please let me know. Any feedback is helpful, good, bad, ugly...
Thank you
I removed the older ports. I was told newest port has working Bluetooth. Let me know if anything else is wrong please and thank you.
I guess no news is good news??
Well more than a few have download it, some must have flashed. What are your thoughts? How is it running on the d2tmo? Speed, smoothness, any problems so far? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks for the nice ROM. I notice one thing that every now and then I get a pop-up "Hellbean int: then the version number" what is that mean?

Not sure what I did wrong maybe used a base that was a bit older or newer than the ports, never seen it with my sgs2 port that I run as a DD. I believe the 4/6 doesn't have that issue. Not 100% sure on that since I don't own a SGS3 to try it.

Is that happening on the port I posted 4/6? If so, is everyone having this issue? You 2 are the only real feedback I have seen here.
Curious to those running it how is the speed and smoothness in comparison to other 4.2.2 ROM's/Ports? It just fly's on my SGS2.
3+ days: zero pop up, no single FC, stable, excellent GPS lock, getting Google voice MMS via Gmail,
Nice work!
Ok, I have a couple questions.. This SGS3 forum is not at all like the SGS2 which can be a little crazy at times. I can see how many have downloaded my port, which is quite a few, but I really haven't gotten much input. Do you all like it? Are enough of you using this to make it worth my time to port a Hellybean update? I mean porting is not hard to do, and does not take that much time. But its hard to judge if I am just wasting my time here.
Thanks
No I dont think your wasting your time you have me right. Jk but either of the case thanks for your work bud its greatly appreacated so dont worry no news is good news look at baked its hardly got any thing in it so dont fret k

I would think about using another ROM considering you seem to he the only one to be having this issue. I have 8 testers and not one of them or anyone has reported anything like this since I started building for this device. You probably have a device that just won't work with the ROM. All devices are not created equally and it seems as though you might have a weak one.

Seriously... well you're the dev I'll take your word for it, I'm good at getting logs but not reading them. I'll try again on next build. Build from 6/18 was getting less reboots than 6/12 so I'm sure it can only get better. Hope the logs were useful, even if only to say my phone sucks.

Differences between devices, quality control, ect.. has been well known since the release of the s3. Hundreds of users were having to RMA their devices just to be able to run certain kernels/roms. So it seems this doesn't look like anything different than that. With you being the only one to have this issue I will be honest and say that I won't go around changing things to get it to work on one single device. That just wouldn't make any sense when things work just as they should for everyone else. So those logs really don't apply here considering those facts. Sorry dude.

Dirty Unicorns is a custom ROM built with stability in mind and optional customization. The idea to start this ROM began out of pure boredom around 4.1.2 on the EVO 3D and later turned into a form of an addiction (a good one) to see where we could go from there. We have since expanded to more devices to include the HTC One, Nexus 5, SGS4 and many more. We quickly realize that users loved what we were doing as well as other developers because it was done the right way. We've always had fun doing it and take pride in knowing that we've done it without having to bug the end user for donations to pay for server costs and/or any of those sob stories you hear. This ROM is 100 percent free and will remain that way.
Those wanting to use our ROM as a base are more the welcomed to do so but please maintained the credits/thanks below, do not ask for donations as it wouldn't be fair to do so considering and let us know as we often like to contribute to other projects.
As stated above, we love to maintain authorship but we also like to publicly praise those that have helped us along the way with our wonderful project. With that said, this wouldn't be possible without the work and help of those listed below THANK YOU ALL!!
| OmniROM | AOKP | CM | ChaOS | Paranoid Android | Slim ROMs | Preludedrew | Team Black Out | Official Testers / Translators |
Please check our gerrit/github for full credits/thanks of individual contributorsBelieve it or not, we are human and we do forget things. If we have left someone out of the credit/thanks list, just PM us and we'll gladly add on to the list.

First? Lol. I'm dling right now. Can't wait to test a new ROM. Thank you.
Edit: great job on the ROM. It's super smooth and snappy. I had a few FC's with the baked in kernel and decided to switch to matr1x. All smooth so far. The only thing I'm seeing is as I type this it seems that the keyboard is not all the way at the bottom of the screen, it doesn't want to put a space every time I touch the spacebar, default keyboard. I see you suggest using an alternate, what's the reason?
Thanks again. Great so far.
Downloaded. Will test this later
thanks.

Reason I suggest alternate keyboard, when I first booted up I started typing a message, hit the voice to text button, and phone rebooted. Tested this 3 times and all three resulted in reboot so there's some properties missing in this area. I use SwiftKey anyway. The prediction texting on stock is horrible compared to other keyboards you can get in the market. Example: I wrote this reply in seconds. I see what you mean with it not all the way at the bottom. That's odd, will look into it.

Reason I suggest alternate keyboard, when I first booted up I started typing a message, hit the voice to text button, and phone rebooted. Tested this 3 times and all three resulted in reboot so there's some properties missing in this area.

oh that's weird because I'm using it right now to say this into my reply. but maybe it's a kernel issue. Do you remember if that was the baked in or matr1x? Also, how can I enable trace with this keyboard? I live by that lol.
There's a few other things I've noticed. When you go to about phone and click about du or du statistics I get unfortunately settings has stopped every time.
And under "dirty tweaks/lock screen/misc tweaks/lockscreen notifications/privacy" the word being is spelled incorrectly as beeing. I don't know if that's intentional or upstream, or if nobody cares but I thought I'd bring it up.
Any idea why it would never provision? It told me 3 times that it's unable to complete.

What where your steps/actions leading up to provision problem ? Many of the little bugs will be fixed in the coming build. Building this one with the B kernel and also some different variables I used resulted in the issues. I wanted to get it posted up for all to test out and give me a checklist to fix. Thanks for the info.

As soon as the phone boots for the first time and you start to enter information it wanted to activate the device. It dialed a *phone number I think it was *28something. But either way it was a recording that states the process could not be completed. I retried it a couple times and got the same message. The funny thing is that I have data and can make calls and get texts.
Oh yeah, some roms do that, you can let it call and press 1,it'll say it couldn't activate, then you can just hit the skip button. You can also hit skip when it first pops up on and move on to adding Google account or boot up. Either way your activated.

If all goes well I'll be pushing a big update this afternoon/evening for everyone, few additional features, and hopefully lots of fixes.
Wow good job. Downloading now, I've been dying to try the latest DU. Glad someone picked this up.

Installed and setting up now. I did get a flash failed message. I had to install super su and reboot to recovery and flash that way.
Also I flashed mirage. Any drawbacks to that since this is built with matrix?
One more question. Remapping of the capacitive keys? Its not under buttons and I can't find it. I like changing my menu to a recents button.
Thanks for your work on this!!

It's built with b55 kernel, I suggest the matr1x kernel but you can try Mirage I haven't tried it with that one. Let me know how it goes though! A couple options didn't take in initial build but I think I have the problem solved and new update is building right now.

[ROM][MM 6.0.1][Rooted][Edge Features][DEODEXED][SEMI-DEBLOAT][EPD1] >10/17/16 1.7.5

Chr0nic's Modded MM v1.7.5
DISCLAIMER:I am not responsible for any bricks, or damage to your devices, this software is provided as is and has been tested numerous times. That being said, your warranty is now void (of course it was once you rooted [emoji23] ) Enjoy!
Introduction
As with some other ROM devs in the area, seeing little to no ROMs for the Galaxy S6 Edge I was a bit perturbed. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and with the guidance of another well known dev, I came up with this. Keeping most of the sammy features in tact and removing a bunch of extra bloat. This ROM is mainly debloated according to how I like it, if you need to remove more, then by all means, please do.
Features
*3Minit Battery
*Potato Clock
*Potato Gradient
*Rounded Notifications
*Rounded Recents
*Call Recording
*Recent Lock (allows you to protect an app in your recents so it stays active after killing all others.
*6 Toggle with max of 12 across
*Numerous CSC Edits (Dual Dashboard, Diasble SMS to MMS Conversion, Enable blacklist,
Save SMS Messages to SD, Enable Call Blocking, Ability to disable camera shutter, Etc....)
*5 way power menu.
*WiFi Calling Works...
*Display Scaling
*Outdoor Mode
*Private mode***
*Integrated Adaway
*Integrated Xposed Installer (Still need to flash Xposed Binaries)
*Moved Cell and WiFi signals to the left.
*Integrated Nova Launcher as an option for Launcher.
I'm sure there is more I am forgetting.
ROM COMES WITH Twisted Edge V8 Kernel Which has drastically reduced RAM consumption and now comes with KTweaker to make your Kernel changes and tweaks.
ROM Can be flashed on S6 Flat variant. After flashing, mount system in TWRP, tap install and navigate to system/mods/kernels and flash the Flat kernel for it to work.
Installation: Download or copy zip to internal storage, boot into your preferred recovery (TWRP recommended) wipe cache, data, and system 3x, Flash ROM, Xposed, or anything else you want to add. Enjoy. First boot can take upwards of 15 minutes.
Bugs????? You tell me
Download: Download Make a backup before you flash.
If you want WiFi calling to work, you must flash the kernel in the mods folder.
Kernel Source can be found in the proper thread provided here.

Changelog
v1.7.5 Added Smart Manager from Vote 7 v2, Added Note 7 People Edge, Tasks Edge, Apps Edge. A backup before flashing is suggested
v1.7.4 Added Device Maintenance from Note 7, Added OmaCP.apk from Note 7, Galaxy Apps, and theme store from Note 7. (Probably wont make a difference.
) If you want WiFi calling to work you MUST flash V4 kernel in the /System/Mods folder
v1.7.3 Added Gear VR Setup back into the priv-app folder. Optional Update
v1.7.2 Can be dirty flashed if coming from clean flash of 1.7.1. Added white pages function for incoming calls (may need clean flash for it to work) Fixed screencast issue, all apps multi-window enabled unless app does not support it.
v1.7.1 Removed rom info, removed toolbox and supersu from settings, updated services jar to add screenshot and screen record. MUST BE CLEAN FLASHED! Remember to nandroid before flashing.
v1.7.0 Added SuperSu to settings, removed signature check.
v1.6.7 added Smart Manager from S7, there is no icon so it must be accessed via the settings, added Rom info to Device settings. removed a few more bloat apps. More to come just reviewing options at this point.
v1.6.5 Minor changes. Fixed FC in the messaging app. Removed the T-Mobile Adapt Client app from system (again). (Looking into the VoLTE issue. If you would like to try V3 of the @The Sickness Twisted Kernel you can get that here )
v1.6 removed high volume warning, added 3 zips in a folder called mods, which will be in your system partition. Flash these at the time of updating if you want V4A (Courtesy of @stangdriver44 ), or Totally stock status bar , or modded with right side signals. Accidentally added Tmobile Adapt client back into the Priv-App folder, just use a root file explorer and delete it until the next update. Sorry about that.
v1.5 Integrated Toolbox Controller, fixed overlap in editing quick tiles. smooth as butter this update.
v1.4 Beta Rolled back a few of the S7 apps as they were causing a few issues for me Mainly dialer and messaging. Integrated Nova Launcher, updated Kernel to Latest Twisted Series V4. Added back VR Setup files. Added Viper4Android. (currently looking into Dolby Atmos)
v1.3 Merged S7 Edge Apps: Dialer, Contacts, Email, SecMyFiles, Messaging, Browser, Theme store, Galaxy Apps, Edge apps and a few others. Clean Flash is advised for this update
v1.2
Integrated AdAway and Xposed Installer
Added My Files back to system (should fix issues with Private Mode)
v1.1 Fixed WiFi Calling Preferences
Removed Knox from about device
Added Display Scaling
v1 Initial Release
All updates can be dirty flashed from previous version unless otherwise stated
Welcome! Great to see some new devs stepping in to fill the obviously void here due to lack of development!
I just have to say this, "Do this for you"! Don't build anything or make custom builds for anyone but yourself!
When you feel good that things are stable and running well, then share your work with no expectations from anyone!
This will prevent you from possibly getting discouraged from lack of feedback and appreciation!
I myself get so excited after I've put in tons of hours/days adding features and mods and it's finally ready for release only to get a handful of thanks!
That's when I remind myself I build this for me, add the mods I use and when I'm ready, I am nice enough to share my work with others to use, for free, because I have it and without this community (XDA-DEVELOPERS, not the S6 forums), none of this would've been possible.
I've learned a lot and am always trying to give back what I can!
That being said if you have any questions or need and advice I'm only a PM away.
If you look around I'm sure you'll see my work to give you an idea of things I might be able to help with.
Again, welcome, good job and keep it up!

Well, that theme is actually from the theme store. I would have included it as part of the ROM, but I don't believe in "borrowing" the work of any paid apps or themes. I used to develop stupid little soundboard to entertain my friends. I put them up on the app store and they were quickly popping up on other sites for free. I had to start using licensing and eventually, because it was not worth the hassle, I shut down my developer account and stopped everything. Pulled down all active links for the app, set any hidden YouTube videos in the app to private. It's just not cool.

Ahh, well either way.. it makes for great screenshots lol. I agree with you on that. I can't imagine spending months writing a paid program only to have it passed around for free and receive nothing for long nights and headaches.

Exactly why I stopped. Lol, I was not going to keep updating and putting out newer versions. It won't run properly on anything beyond KK, it may launch but after a few seconds it crashes. So, I guess I win in the end.

Well, well.............VERY nice job bro. I'm glad you finally got this thing up and running.
Maybe if folks did what you did and took a leap in faith we would have more builds coming out
than we do now.......
Now that the hard part is done, now you can start doing so serious modding to it.......

If you're having any type of FC, submit a log along with it so I can see what's causing it. Also, the only way you're gonna remove those mods is if I put up a zip for the stock ui, I'll do that later today.
