Recovery question ?? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Will be getting the Note II in a few days and of course it will be rooted once I take it out of the box, which recovery are most of you using and recommend, from the videos I have watched most say they prefer TWRP, just looking for all your feedback so I am prepared, from what I read TWRP is the way to go, wish 4EXT was available, LOL

On the Evo I used twrp on the e4gt I used cwm since twrp isnt supported. On the s3 and n2 I use twrp. So basically I prefer twrp

Twrp was the first recovery on the note2 to get going... And hence has a bit of a following... Personally, as a user and development I find myself swearing at twrp on the Note2 far more than I ever did on any of my other devices.
Ofc, twrp port for Note2 is far younger than it is for those other devices.

Define correctly.
Twrp's wipes on the Note2 tend not to be complete, necessitating repeated wipes... Twrp likes to hang with Aroma scripts, and sometimes just flat out crash. I don't want to make it sound like their recovery isn't any good, just that it has lots of issues and has a long way to go.

You could wipe with cwm and it would never wipe system so you could not install aosp ... could be different now but koush hasnt been too keen to update cwm very much since like the evo3d ....

Please for the sake of common sense, reading and intelligence, post your posts where they belong in the future, not flaming you, just asking you to do the right thing, thanks! And I believe your question was answered in the post on top of this one.
Try Q&A next time bud...Now that we have that out of the way, just use Odin or Mobile Odin to flash one of the repacked kernels w/CWM. The button combo will then work.

ROM Manager works fine for me, including booting to a CWM recovery that is not the same as the one packed with the kernel.
As for the OP, easiest thing to do to get CWM is to flash a stock kernel that has been repacked with CWM which you will need to do through ODIN.
rom manager works, but not with a stock kernel, must have a kernel with CWM or variant recovery.. and it only fakeflashes not actual flash the recovery..

What is is about the stock recovery that prevents properly booting to the version of CWM installed by ROM Manager? Does it not support the redirection Koush? I know his version actually installs CWM to somewhere besides the kernel partition.

ROM Manager works fine on my E4GT too. I had that problem of it not booting into CWM from ROM manager, but I forget how I got it working.
I have never had that problem. I flashed a kernel and rom manager was working fine. Tru re flashing the kernel your using.

rommanager doesnt install a recovery at all, it fakeflashes recovery, so you have to have a cwm compatible recovery first anyway..

It can no longer be rooted using the version of the su file the forum posts point to. Although the information in the posts are accurate.
You must use a newer version of the su file. This is the one that worked for me: Corrected http://goo.im/superuser/Superuser-3.0.6-efgh-signed.zip Corrected
You will get an error message after Clockwork runs the script but everything should be ok.
Basically, if your a newb go to: http://galaxys2root.com/t-mobile-galaxy-s2-faq/
Follow the rooting guide, but instead of using the included su zip file use the one from the link that I provided.
I hope that this helps.

I dont want to be rude. Thanks for this but i think this is already posted. If you get error just go back wipe dalvik and cache and flash it again or just flash it a couple times. I got this error when i rooted stock kl1 but i knew it because it was reported already and fix was posted as well. I did exactly same to root LDE and it works. If u get error just flash again...thats all.

Yes, as has been stated even prior to the update, some people had to flash su several times for it to take hold.
If it is aborting, you can also toggle off signature verification. Worked like a charm for me.

there is no link to non touch cuz they can be easy updated via rom manager ( i explained in the op ) and i put only the touch version there cuz people like that one, ill put the non touch latter (its there its just private).
the diference is huge, Sk8r recovery is better cus it have more options, but this one is stock clockwork recovery for people like me that use the stock recovery. both Sk8r and this are builded with the same source. so Sk8r have the plus thing they added!

Nontouch is running good! Hey op u said your making a flashable of nontouch? I just wanna have a flashable downloaded to have instead of using rom mananger
Good look on this one... was trying to flash a newerROM and this made it more simple... suggestion tho, on the flash settings as you go to flash a ROM and you have to confirm the action, the screen need to be smaller. Kinda threw me off not knowing the new format. I almost rebooted thinking there was no way to confirm task. But for a noob like me its a lil confusing. Just an observation. wiped the settings as needed without the need to any other scripts so thats a good thing.. thanks for the contribution

the only known issue ( and it was fixed by David ferguson ) was the USB moounting and the format bug, wish david ferguson fixed in 6.0.1.1 and after a long thest and optimixing i can say that this recovery is solid as sk8r recovery.
i dont know if you are flaming trolling or what ever, but people need to test things first and then report.

Yeah I checked but this device is weird as you know and I wanted a bit of assistance not wise ass remarks. I'm new on this part of xda and with a flashed phone I know some roms don't work correctly. That's why I asked not to be lazy. Check my stats I do a lot of support for the one xl. And one thing I wouldn't do was post a link to a totally different device, someone with less common sense could brick with wrong info.

My bad, I read that as G2, I apologize. I was confused as to why this was posted here. If you want a ROM that works correctly go with TouchWiz. AOSP ROMs are pretty buggy on this device, especially KitKat.
What do I need to do to go from stock rooted this is a confusing device and I also still have stock recovery

If all you flash it the kernel, its safe to reboot without wiping anything. However, I would follow any and all directions given by the OP of any ROM or kernel you flash to the letter. Otherwise, you're asking for issues. This is a confusing device, and there are so many little nuances that need to be done just right to avoid problems.
If you take nothing else away from this post, remember this website www.rwilco12.com, it will save your device if you run into issues or just need anything for the device. Every ROM, kernel and modem leaked and/or released for this device by Samsung is on there and will return you to stock in a heartbeat.:good:
