[Q] Modded TouchWiz Exchange to bypass PIN requirements - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

We just got a new requirements to lock our phones with 8 digit PIN code if we want to use Exchange. So, every time I want to send a text or check Facebook, I have to enter 8 digits.
I know there are ways to bypass it on AOSP, and there are some ways to do it on Note 2 for Verizon. But is there a mod, or a way it can be done on our ROMs? I am currently using Jedi Master.

Do you have sensitive company email on your phone? If you do what would be the response of your IT department if you lost your phone? Can your Exchange admin remote wipe your phone?

Nothing sensitive. It's a company-wide thing. I am using Touchdown now so I would only have to lock Touchdown. But I'd prefer to use my default exchange client. I also have Cerberus, so I can remotely wipe it myself.

So, any suggestions?

[Q] [ROM] Android Revolution HD 4.0 β 4 Company Directory app missing?

Excellent rom - couple of great guides on the net and I had this up and running and it was awesome out of the box.
Only issue is that my company directory is no longer an option inside the people app. I used to be able to search my corporate AD and pull back contact details and this just doesn't exist any more.
Anyone know if it's possible to set it up? I have removed and readded the Exchange account with no joy.
Thanks to everyone involved, much appreciated.
Cheers
Matt.

Miui + Exchange 2010 + Device Adminidtrator Policy help

I got an issue with the Miui and my work exchange server:
THey have Exchange 2010 with force of device administrator policy, the issui is when i try to connect to the exchange i get an error that the device dont support the security policies... is anyone having the same issue and does anyone know how to fix this.... thanks in advance.
You might have to get an exchange email app like I did; miui nor cm7 support them properly. Exchange only works as I need it to on sense roms. Maybe there's a fix but I just purchased an app to eliminate all issues since I flash multiple roms. Try deleting the exchange account and going through set up again, this time if it completes check the notification bar to see if its asking you for permission. There's usually a button you have to accept for permission.
If you rather get an app look into touchdown, enhanced email, or moxier email.
I was thinking some can mod the email app so exchange will think its getting the permission.... tricking the exchange..... but i dont know if that is possible.
pretty sure there is another mail app you have to d/l... i dont think miui comes with the htc mail and you need to get that. at least that is what I had to do when I used miui back in the day. This question may be better answered in the miui thread though.

No not possible to my knowledge. You'll probably need to switch to a sense rom if you want "real" exchange support. As I stated earlier, using aosp/miui I could never get the features I wanted with exchange so I either run sense or use my app. Sense has more of the corporate features for exchange while aosp based roms don't seem to care about exchange support much IMO.
can someone help us ... make a custom emai.apk to work with exchange 2010 and there policies, or skipping them would even be better.

Not to bring your hopes down but this has been an issue for years with aosp (miui) man. Its always lacked corp email features. I don't think anyone is going to create an email app when you could simply run sense or spend 10-20 bucks on one from the market. (Which is much cheaper than paying someone to create an app)

How to (Possibly) change your windows live ID

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK AND BACKUP! UNCONFIRMED!
To do this you need to have my Supreme Shortcuts application installed on your phone. This is not in the marketplace and you need a dev unlock or something similar to install it. At this point I STRONGLY suggest backing up your phone. I have NO IDEA if this really works and I have NOT tried it myself. Once you do that open the application and scroll down to "Live ID Setup". Pin it to your start screen using the check box or click the "?" button and a screen you havent seen since your last reset/purchased your phone will appear.

Anyone willing to test this out now that Microsoft is allowing you to change your live ID to an Outlook.com address?
Hello guys.
I created a new outlook account today. I went to my xbox and transfered my previous account to my new outlook account.
After doing that, I used IDSwitch an application that is available on Bazaar to change my windows live id to my new outlook account.
The only thing I lost were my contacts but microsoft offers you some tools to backup and restore your contacts trough their live and outlook sites.
Restoring your contacts to messenger will take some days, though. Since the tool for sending messenger invitations in the outlook sites blocks you from sending many invitations at once.
Anyway, I recommend that you backup your phone before trying this. And prepare to lose everything you have bought...
It worked really well for me and I got to keep everything I have bought , my achivements and everything (Except contacts)
.... but it could be a different case for you.
Good luck! =)
Purchases are tied to your Gamertag, not your email account. Your Gamertag is tied to your email account, but that association can be changed. Move your gamertag onto your new outlook.com email account, and you'll have your apps and music and whatnot back again.
Has anyone actually tried this? Really hopeful that it does, I could use this...

this doesn't work
it allows you to change it, and if you try purchase anything from an app store it comes with with a slightly ironic message telling you theres a problem with your ID and you should try a different one.

Working With Microsoft Files

I own a copy of Office Suite Pro 7. Love the way it looks, but I've noticed that it, along with many other MS editing apps, the files get corrupted, or it reformats the files in a way that looks funky in stock Office programs.
I noticed that my note II came with Polaris Office and I tried it for the first time today and encountered none of the usual problems. The files that I worked with looked the same in spreadsheets and word docs and didn't become corrupted. There is just one issue that I've found - when I attempt to attach a signature to the document, it appears as a black box. For what it's worth, this is how it appears in the gallery. The way other editing apps have worked is that when the signature is applied, it has a blank background you can see through as though it was drawn on the page. Polaris doesn't do this.
I'm really becoming tired and I'm just looking for something that will work without these hassles. Any suggestions?
Have you tried Kingsoft? That's what u use, no problems so fat

Even Kingsoft can mess up your documents (specially with text boxes and some bullet styles). But I believe that Kingsoft is the best until Microsoft releases Android version of Microsoft Office Suite. It sucks.
MS will release 365 soon for Android. All these apps will be obsolete

Getting Google Apps Accounts onto Glass

I personally want to use my normal GApps account on glass, but google hasn't let us in yet and forces us to use gmail... I'm tired of using two accounts.
I believe we can get other accounts onto glass. This could be done by accessing the settings activity and adding our normal gmail account. the only problem is that there is no native com.android.settings app installed on glass which kind of ruins it.
anyone want to help me with this project??
PS. I'm doing this WITHOUT root/voiding my warranty.

Without root? Most likely not possible because you can't install the package "com.android.settings" without pushing it to "/system/app" on the device I dont' think.
I dont think this belongs to dev session
but I believe in a custom firmware can solve this issue perfectly

I disagree, the ability to use a gapps account is not simply just blocked on the Glass directly but it is also blocked in the MyGlass system. I just got through moving to a GMail Address for use with my Glass.

Well... this is not directly related to the op's question. But you can install settings without root.
Here is the demo officially released by google: https://developers.google.com/events/io/sessions/332704837

You can access some additional settings (such as force pairing Bluetooth devices) through launching that settings.apk; however, going into account setup will crash the app (as of now).
