Lately my phone has been showing google services as second highest battery drain after the screen. What could the likely cause be, or how can I find out?

Use better battery stats app ...it will let u know what's going on. I too have had that prob tho. Also try getting a GPS lock .and then unlock it. What ROM u using ? If it was android system or android os. I've had reflash ROM usually.... Google services mite jus be a quick fix.

So I'm running a 2100 m a h extended life battery and I know I should be getting better life than this. I'm running 4.1 jelly bean on cdma phone, stock kernel. I also have the app killer checked on, and my screen brightness is pretty low. I've been having my wifi at home but still for 4 hours in 40 percent screen time that's really bad numbers. just wondering if anybody has any input

Uninstall your task killer, those do more harm than good. And download BetterBatteryStats to see what is draining your battery.
More likely it's your apps that are causing it to drain very badly. Any shady looking apps I would uninstall. And like above me, do those both as well.

What setting is this? And don't use it.
You may want to use the Better Battery stats application to check for wake locks.
Trying a different kernel may also help. The Faux kernel works well for myself.
Lastly, the standby time doesn't give as much insight into your battery life as well as screen on time does. What kind of screen on time are you getting?
Note: don't use task killers, and don't manually kill applications.

Wow your right. First for some reason I couldn't even click back on x d a developers app kept force closing and after I check that I can finally go back didn't think that would effect so much

Turn off any app killing, as you've done.
In your screenshot, you had a lot of calls, that'll do it too, so battery life can vary.
Here is today's. I don't get it. 2100 math battery low brightness display

Why is task killing worse than good?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
I am not sure about the stock app killer but any 3rd party app killer is constantly scanning your phone looking for apps running even if there is none so it's constantly using battery power

So I have unbricked my phone and have flashed cm9 and fullthrottle now I'm on the official ics from att. My phone has been dying quickly. I checked my battery stats and seen android OS in my number 2 spot. Today I unplugged my phone and didn't use it for two hrs and it went down 5% I checked and android os stayed away 1 hr and 53 mins.

Yep, install better battery stat, it's even free for XDA member, search the app forum.

Also, there's a thread called "known identified battery drainers" in the ATT GS2/I777 forums that has some good, universal stuff on interpreting wakelocks.

any luck solving this?
I tried flashing this from 3 times wiping everything and still get the android os taking most of my battery. I tried better battery stats but can really interpret it. I don't have facebook link or instagram. I'll post pics of better battery stats.

I'd suggest disabling stock apps you don't need, I guess. Most people seem to think the battery life on that ROM is decent.
I always disable the att apps that come with the stock from. I get about 10 hrs on medium use with the extended battery. If this was fixed then I would get way more

same issue
I never even thought to check into that as I have also had bad battery life, but figured it was just the nitro. New to rooting LG's as I had samsungs before. I am having the same exact issue running OH!NO! Full Throttle 7.1 and never realized it.. Is it just settings that are not allowing it to sleep?
I have no clue but there is something that is keeping the phone awake and not letting gp to sleep which is really hurting the battery life

i definitely recommend getting juice defender. it made a HUGE difference in my battery life.
I tried it but it didn't help much just turned off the data. The only thing that really helped was to go into app settings and disable android and it has helped some

I have the same issue. Android OS is (or was) the best battery killer. AT&T support person told me to do factory reset AND DO NOT INSTALL any app that are not preinstalled. I have to install them later one by one to find one incompatible with ICS.
After reset operation (happened 2 hours before) I have now Screen as the best battery killer Battery went from 77% down to 62% with some browsing and preinstalled apps update. It looks promising...
Since updating to job I for the life of me cannot figure out how to search on Google search bar and make it a specific time or date like I did in ICS. Anyone know how to do this?

Guess I'll add this also. What would cause my battery to say I've only been on my phone 6 hours even though its been like 9 hours?

Try installing Better Battery Stats off the play store to see what is causing your battery drain. The search problem I have no idea as Im not on stock..
Battery started draining alot randomly... any ideas? Stock rooted 4.4
Android os has like 10hrs keep awake in one day

Have you checked apps and sync settings for anything waking the device? Sometimes just a reboot can fix it.

Are you on ART and using another user account?

Reason I asked is because I have two user accounts and I had the same problem as you on ART.
For me it was Google Search was the culprit in my second account, even when I'm logged in my first and my N7.2 goes to sleep.
First account no problems whatsoever.
So revert to Dalvik. Everything is back to normal now. Besides on ART I lost quite a substantial amount of storage just for that slight increase in speed which I don't find necessary.
Fully charged again. Will switch back to dalvik and see what happens...

Hey guys, so this is the 2nd charge cycle that this is happening. Google Search drained more than 50% of the battery even on airplane mode. Says it kept the device awake for 1 day 6 hours. I rebooted the device twice. This last time I rebooted it and it doesn't seem to be keeping it awake but the battery was still draining fairly quickly. I'm going to do a full recharge and another reboot. But has anyone else been encountering this? Usually a reboot solves it but I guess this time it didn't.
Using app like Dư Battery or Greenify to identify which app is using your battery most, you'all have the answer.

I don't think so. I thought that was only available for the Nexus 5. I use Nova.
Same Problem here since a day or 2. I have installed newest experience launcher. Is this causing problems??
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
On the experience launcher, need to to to google now settings and disable hotword. That's the thing where u can say "ok google". It's always listening to you. Since we don't have that extra processor, it is keeping the device awake...
But for the OP, what is it that is using the battery? Google framework? Android os?
