Ok so even before rooting my friend was unable to send picture messages after root it still continues to be a problem. She called sprint today and they told her that they can no longer access her sprint account because she is rooted so now I've come here for help does anyone know hoe to fix the messaging bug she is experiencing. Any help will be greatly appreciated

If the person's phone is rooted, is she running a particular ROM. Is it a ROM which is Sense based? Does the phone have EPST capabilities? Also, the phone being rooted would not cause issue with Sprint being able to access her account.
Not sure about the epst but I set up cm7 for her and even before when the phone was stock it was messing up. And I told her that rooting wont do that but I guess its what the sprint store told her

Try checking the mms settings on a sense rom or use go sms and reconfigure the apns in the app and see if it works with that app

You call sprint cs not a store sprint stores are lazy which is why they refuse to work on rooted phones I activated my evo to a different line while running evio3 before gb was even officially on the evo sprint didn't say a word about it other than how cool it was I was updated way ahead of schedule lol every csr I talk too is cool about rooting and usually ask me for opinions on what rom they should run if they happen to have one of the 4 phones on our account, sprint cs even sent a few of my friends to HTCDEV to unlock their bootloaders

Try updating profile/prl in system updates and reboot. If that doesn't fix it contact sprint and have them attempt to push it through reactivation.
But no, simply rooting the device will not solve the problem you're explaining. If the above steps don't work, just swap it out?? Clearly its not a widespread issue and likely has something to do with its activation.

Assuming you or he already updated the profile and PRL correctly and talked with Sprint (while on the phone to assure it is registered correctly!) I'd recommend using sfhub's stock root [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433101] This provides a clean start with el29 modem, kernal and stock ROM, and provides root access. Since he's having problems I'd do a FULL restore (reset user data). I'd then use Auto Root with CWM - option C [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728]. That will give you a stock rooted phone with CWM for recovery and additions. Make sure all works. That may be enough. It could be just horrible reception at his place. Might want to check out an Airave device. There are also posts on how to tweak 3g/4g speeds [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1265990] Then if all is working maybe think about another ROM. I'm loving Blazer. Calkulin's and Strong Steve's are also super. Good luck.

hey incredibly smart people here,
i bought a d710 off craigslist to replace my ailing evo 4g. when i went to activate it, it didnt do hands free, so we attempted the manual program - when we ##72786# and entered the MSL given by sprint, i get a MODEM EXCEPTION OCCURS then a yes tap box. I also have baseband unknown and hardware unknown. i have tried the Gingerbread flash back to stock rom for people with issues, i have forwarded to the GA10 Stock JB rom, when i ## to program and enter the MSL it brings up the scrtn instead of the error, but there is nothing there, if i hit menu, doesnt do anything. im just frankly perplexed by it all. the hardware works great aside from activation. anyone have any other ideas before i sell it as a phone for metro or whatever, unflashable?
thanks guys!
Never buy phones from cl. Too many chances that your getting somebodys borked phone.
If you can't try it out before you buy it, don't buy it.
Nobody buys a car online and has it delivered by ups, no! You meet and road test the car before you buy it.
Get a refund if you can.
Good luck.

Sounds like it was on aosp rom or something. Just use a oneclick full restore and you should be good to go. Fyi FL24 is latest ota from sprint. Its ics.

Long shot but I'm curious - Does the phone work, besides not being activated?
If it does, I'm wondering if you can't do a getprop ril.MSL with adb and seeing if the MSL is correct.
Seeing a lot of posts with the issue, but from CM builds, but no real fix. Unless I'm overlooking it.
Yes the phone works, had it On WiFi and everything works except getting it to activate bc of the no baseband . Can you send me a link to how to do the stuff you're talking about?

ok im home to work on the phone agian, i did a GB one-click before i left this morning. I just went into about settings and i got FC, so i cant even see the dec. im going to try the ics oneclick and see what that leaves me with.
ok i did the f24 flash, and it lets me get into the phone info, it says meid and msl as uknown. Ive attached the serial number to my samsung profile and it says it was built in november 2012. its just so perplexing.

OK, first things first then. Take that Dec MEID and check with Sprint to make sure they have the same one. As long as they do and you're okay to activate under that MEID you'll need to reprogram the phone to put that back in. PM me for the details on how to do that.
More than likely the person hosed their EFS data and thought it was borked - deciding to sell instead of fixing it.

Can you give us some info? Is your device stock? Is it rooted? What Android version are you running and are you on a custom rom? If you can, post a picture of your About Phone page so we can see versions and firmwares please
With those questions answered we can take a look and see why you're not receiving your calls. There are a few reasons this could be happening, ranging from data toggles to APN settings. Without knowing what I'm working with, I can only speculate. When noticing these missed calls are you on a particular data network? 4G LTE through AT&T will momentarily disconnect and run on 3g while a call is implemented, then return to LTE 2-3 seconds after the call has ended. Maybe you have an option to prefer LTE and it's not disconnecting the data to allow the call? This may only occur on a custom rom though. Check your APN settings under APN type and make sure things like default, supl, mms are there.
If you're on a stock rom with stock recovery, you may want to consider backing up your data and performing a factory reset. This may not help at all though.
If you know what you're doing, and have root on a custom rom, then chances are you know how to flash a new radio (modem) and may want to research ones available to you and try flashing one of those. (NOTE: Be sure you know what you're doing before flashing anything, and remember to flash a radio (modem) twice for good measure. - MAKE SURE the modem is compatible with your phone model and your rom.
Mine does this every now and then. I assumed it is a network thing, but it may not be.

That is when it happened the first time for me also...and for a few days got 2 different stories. It started up again yesterday, I thought that I would post on here about it. I have come to a pretty safe conclusion that people on here know more about these phones than the people at Sprint. And I am thinking it is a network issue again...it has been ringing like it should this afternoon.
Area code 336? That's in NC, and where I live. Seven of my coworkers have switched from Sprint due to issues with the network. It is a local issue here though, and in Sprint's defense, they are trying hard to fix the issues. (I'm not knocking anyone or any carrier
If we are sure this is a network issue, it may be best to contact Sprint and ask if they have had others complaining about the same problem.

I bought my phone already flashed to Verizon prepaid. It is currently on ICS 4.0.4 rooted stock build FH13. The guy who flashed it sold it to me and told me to never update it cuz it could destroy the flash. Is this true? Also, hot spot is working and i wouldn't want to lose that if i were to update. So should i just disable OTA update notifications with FOTAkill.apk and stay on 4.0.4?
When you update just change the APN for MMS. The flash should stay regardless of the ROM on the phone. Be sure to do a nandroid first. Also someone who has done a flash to another carrier can please chime in

DO NOT UPGRADE! If you're on PagePlus, the system WILL NOT RECOGNIZE YOUR PHONE. The place you bought it will charge you to re-flash it back to 4.0.4.
Just curious but how will flashing a new ROM in Odin or cwm make the system not recognize the phone? From what I can tell the "flash" was using the numbers from a donor phone. All the info used in the flash except the APN would all still be there after a new ROM flash. Can you not factory reset the phone after a flash to page plus as well? I would like to know what your info is. Because this is the first I have heard it.

Ok it looks like someone is saying it will be safe to update and someone else is saying that it is NOT safe to update. I cannot afford to lose the flash as I do not have access to a computer so I can't take the chance unless someone can absolutely positively for sure tell me that I will not lose my Verizon Prepaid flash.
If the Epic 4g Touch was made for Verizon I wouldnt be worried but being that its originally a Sprint phone I am having doubts. Isn't the OTA update designed for the Sprint Epic 4g Touch? If I do end up letting the OTA update install what version will I end up being on?

Well the update depends on which brand epic touch your on. (Sprint, Virgin Mobile, Boost) it will update you too jellybean either way just your modem will be different. I have a sprint brand.
Ya it is a pain to get MMS to work threw touchwiz without a 3rd party app of some sorts. I find it pretty easy on CM builds. I normally just ditch MMS and send the pic threw gmail cuz its less of a headache. But sure you can send me a screenshot of the settings. I'm willing to help as much as I can.

Yea id appreciate it if you could help me out tomorrow. Thanks again man. Btw, does you're phone go into airplane mode every now n then? Mine does for about ten seconds then comes back on. It'll happen like maybe five times a day. Was wondering if that's normal. If not, is it something cm10.1 could fix?

Yup patroa is correct. ICS builds for the epic touch were horrible. (In My Opinion) I wish I could give you a 100% guarantee that nothing could go wrong but there is always a small slight chance.
No its not normal for airplane mode to pop on from time to time.
I rooted and used mobile Odin to install a cwm and flashed a cm10.1 build all without a volume down button (can't easily get into download mode or at all) I was able to do it from a ICS build. The same build you are on.

Just follow directions to the letter. Almost all if not all issues in flashing ROMs are from not following directions close enough. You are already rooted so get mobile Odin from play store or here on xda download el26 or el29 kernel from the kernel repository DL the tar file flash in mobile Odin boot into recovery make backup wipe and flash the ROM of your choosing. There is a ton of awesome ones out there
