[Q] - Selecting the Proper Rom. - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Yes, before you say "another one of these threads". I've tried searching through the forums, and I've tried a quite some roms.
I am asking for help finding a:
1. STABLE.
2. VERY FAST.
3. STRIPPED / NO EXTRAS.
4. WITH TOUCHWIZ
If somebody can help me find a rom for the i747 that has that, I would be very grateful.. Also, can you SKIN a rom with touchwiz?

Here's a few that seem popular and from what i know a rom would need the samsung framework to incorporate touchwiz.
Synergy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113436
Hyperdrive: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176793

There are a couple Touchwiz themes, but not many. I'm probably generalizing too much here, but I think most people who come here to XDA want something other then Touchwiz, so your theme selection may not be very high
Check out the Theme's and Apps subforum. I know I remember seeing a couple TW themes there.
By the way... This is a question, and probably should have been in the Q&A forum

Second: All TW ROMs are stable and the OP lists all the features. Battery life depends on your use, no one elses.
This is why these are closed.

Most stable Rom? and is this the easiest way to root? (first root and rom on this pho

Hey guys,
Ive had the S3 long enough (couple months) that its time to root it, so i can tether and get rid of this lag (which a phone this powerful should not have). I have the Tmobile version. Ive rooted all my previous android phones, so this won't be my first.
Is this the easiest way to root?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746682
Also, can you give me a couple suggestions on which Rom should I start with (most stable and smooth)? Please note, I am not asking what is the best, most featured packed Rom. Just asking for a couple of options on the most stable and smooth easy rom to start with....(guessing something that is 4.1.1 or 4.1.2?)
I realize that asking which Rom is best just gets old as it has been asked and constantly changes every couple of days and just pisses everyone off, so please don't think I'm just asking for the best rom, just asking for a couple suggestions on a very, very, stable and smooth rom?
Thanks!
I suggest You read the FAQ thread and read my Resource guide, they will help out, and knock out almost every questions you have.

thanks, i actually did look before i posted. that is where i got the link for the root information.
Also, your resource guide is awesome, but i know these rome get updated every few days, and it looks like its been a little over a month since some of the rome in your guide were updated; which is why i was asking for suggestions on the most stable/smoothest rom out now.
Thank you
Kennyglass,
thanks for moving it. i just now noticed i posted in general instead of Q and A...
Any more opinions on if that is the way i should root, or which are the most stable/complete/smoothest rom would be appreciated
I say root is best by Odin and then using goomanager to achieve the latest recovery.
best rom is up to you, what you are looking for is in my resource guide and further more in the dev section. Reason there is no best rom is because that is an opinion, these threads all get shut down cause it is a pointless question, that ALWAYS gets sidetracked and goes south. Every thread ends with a mod letting you know, flash and see which works best for you. So, do just that, read and flash which looks like you will enjoy the most. Use my guide as reference or starting point, and read from there.

So I'm a newbie..

Hey all, Im a newbie and I rooted my s3 a couple of weeks ago, thanks to y'all.now that I've rooted it, what should I do with it? How can I extend the battery life?lightflow is really the only thing that required root that I've downloaded.how do I put custom roms like cyanogenmod 10 on it?
Thanks,
Aviara

First, questions go in the Q(uestions)&A(nswers) forum. ROMs, kernels and mods in zip format requires a custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) and a lot of reading so you don't break your phone. Always make sure you're in the proper device forums before you download anything, flashing an international s3 rom = instant hardbrick 100% of the time. All of the answers to your questions can be found by reading the sticky threads and searching the forums. To make sure you're using the proper ROMs and kernels always make sure the file name includes d2spr or L710 to be safe.

If you do a good amount of reading in general threads like the q&a sticky by flastnoles11, you'll have answered all your questions and more. I, and most people on this board, did quite a bit of reading before we did anything. I know I read up for about 3 weeks before I even rooted my phone but by then I felt comfortable putting a Rom on my phone too. Do a bunch of reading, do some searches (and trust me, at the stage you're at you can find answers to most of your questions with a quick search) and if you really can't find an answer then people here would be more than happy to help. The typical motto here is "read read read and when you think you're done reading read some more!" Or something to that effect.

I honestly don't use root access all that often. The only apps that are currently using root access on my phone are Titanium Backup, ES File Explorer, Better Battery Stats, and Greenify.
What I do a lot of, though, is flashing Roms. I love seeing the latest and greatest that the dev community has to offer. I have one Rom that I always go back to (Liquidsmooth), but I tend to flash at least 2-3 roms a week just to try out the new features. I really enjoy doing this.
My recommendation would be to try out other Roms. There are a ton on here and they are all, for the most part, stable enough for daily use.

[Q] Custom roms

Hey all, I hope this is an okay place to post this and I tried searching around but wasn't able to get good information.
Essentially I'm really annoyed with the extra Samsung software and really want to try a custom rom but I also need to use my phone for work so it needs to be pretty reliable. As far as I can tell CM is still in a beta / alpha state for Note 2 (unless I am mistaken).
Are there any specific roms that have been tested well / known for being the most reliable? I love playing around with roms but I am having a rough time trying to figure out which roms are most stable, which are experimental, etc.
There are several roms that are very stable. Depending on your personal taste, you will want to first decide if you want a TouchWiz based rom or a AOSP based rom. Then find the rom that interests you and read the forum for the roms and see if there are stability issues for those roms. You should probably stick with a more stock rom that has been debloated. I personally use Synergy rom and you have the option to install the rom without the bloat apps or with them. Its within the Aroma installer during the flash process that allows you to customize your Os install. I would download and flash an earlier version between r51 and r85. The newest version has significant issues as it is still being debugged. Other than Synergy there a few other TouchWiz based roms that are debloated and offer different tweaks etc. CM based roms are very stable actually.I hope this helps.

I myself have been thoroughly enjoying INFAMOUS S4. It has the features I need, is faster than stock, and is very stable with great battery life. Just did a full backup of 3.3 and upgrading to 3.4 as I type this

does INFAMOUS S4 rom get rid of the bloatware?

Sure does. They also have a zip with the bloat should you require it for some reason.

Instead of giving you a particular ROM suggestion, I'll give you the best way to find the one that best suits you. First, you have to decide what features you want. If you want all the smart stays, the air move, and the other Samsung stuff, you definitely want TouchWiz. If you want a (negligibly) more responsive feel that's more barebones and to the core of Android, go with one based on/around CyanogenMod (or even the Google Edition). Before flashing any new ROMs I'd spend at least an hour reading through both the Android Development and Original Android development sections. You don't have to read every page of every thread, but at the very least read the OP. You should know within the 1st page what features are included, whether it's TouchWiz or not, if it's themed, etc. Most of the TW ROMs are already debloated and will say so in the OP. The CM bases have no carrier bloat at all. If it interests you, take a look at the last few pages. The reason you want to read the last few pages is to get a feel of what bugs are present. As the ROMs get updated and the threads grow, chances are that problems reported on the 3rd page aren't going to be relevant on page 26. If you try one you like, make a nandroid backup of it and keep the backup updated: that way, if another one pops up that you want to try, or you just feel adventurous and want something new, you'll have your backup(s) and can much more easily surf between ROMs if you so desire.
I've gone through Wicked, Jedi, Infamous S4, Infamous Google Edition, and Alpha roms. Personally, I liked Jamison's Infamous roms the best. I'm currently on his Alpha rom, which is based on the international phone's firmware(or something like that?) and has no wifi calling. But it's pretty smooth. Currently Jamison seems to be the fastest on updating all three of his roms, so if you want continual added features/bug fixes go with any of his roms. Wicked was very nice and stable when I used it, but I got flash-happy and couldn't stick with it since he updates like once a month. In the end it's all up to you though.
P.S. The Infamous S4 and Alpha roms recently have had the Samsung apps added back in, not sure why cos I haven't really read all the posts in the thread. You can easily remove them yourself though.

Looking for a Custom ROM most like stock for Galaxy SIII

Hello all,
I am looking for a custom ROM for my AT&T sgh-i747 that most emulates Samsung's 4.3 Stock ROM. I am looking for all the features and functions that the stock rom has with all the rooted goodness.
Does such a thing exist?
Thanks in advance for your help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541900
I recommend the deodexed version to be able to mod it easily.
This should be in the Q&A section
These type of threads get closed as they become discussions/arguments over which rom is best.
The question you pose is only one you can answer by testing, reading, and interacting with those members in the development threads.
As XDA is not a support site, members are expected to do their own research and experimentation in these matters.
Please head over to the development sections and enjoy,
