I Have a SGH-I747 from rogers but I signed a 3 year plan. I am in Asia at the moment but my SGH-I747 wont work. I was thinking of buying a GT-I9300 in Asia and using it in Asia and in Canada considering its a "international" version. I know the GT-I9300 is not a LTE phone, and since SGH-I747 comes with micro sim is it possible to switch from micro sim to regular sim using an adapter?
I know the GT-I9305 is also international and lte but I don't want to spend extra money for the lte versions. I'm happy with 3G as it is. So is it possible to switch from micro sim (SGH-I747) to a regular sim (GT-I9300) using adapter.
A normal SIM and micro SIM are the same except for some extra plastic. You can trim a normal SIM to fit in a micro slot. Check around and you can find a fancy square hole punch to do just that. They usually come with tiny plastic sleeves to make a micro SIM fit a normal slot.

Check the sim first if you can cut it. Not all SIMs can be cut.

Just curious if the Verizon one has a sim card slot? And if so, can it be unlocked and be used on like T-Mobile?
Has a sim card for LTE. Has no 3G GSM radio

It cannot ever be unlocked to be used on GSM it doesn't have the radio.
It's not compatible.
Verizon LTE gn does have a 3g radio but not compatible with networks outside of Verizon.

Does anyone know by chace if the SIM slot on the Verizon version is compatible with the GSM version? 2 pins are broken in my GSM version, so it will no longer read my SIM. Could I buy/get the part from the Verizon version and put it in the GSM one? (Just the SIM dock, not the whole board obviously.)
thanks.
good question. I remember I used to have a Blackberry storm from Verizon that had a sim card slot enabling me to use it with T-Mobile.

Its because that was locked to using the SIM for world roaming.
Many probably noticed that fido in canada has turned on its LTE. I jusy found out that they only have regular sized sim available at retail store. Has anyone tried putting this sim in galaxys3 rogers version? Would it work just like or sim if we cut it up to fit in the phone?

Hey,
Just to clear things up, you'll first need to unlock the phone (obviously) .. Even if fido is a Rogers sub brand.
I contacted fido customer rep and they said it should work. And as you mentioned, they only have the regular sim size.
However, I went to the Montreal flagship fido store over the weekend, and the sales rep confirmed it will work and they are getting the LTE micro sim sometime this week.
I'll go buy it as soon as it's available, and I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks for reply,, as matter of fact, roger galaxy s3s works with fido sim.
Plus i just got the regular sized sim, and cut it with sim cutter. It works very well on my galaxy s3. It shows lte where 4g icon should be.

I have also had good success cutting regular SIMs with a kitchen knife and scissor using online templates (just google Micro-SIM template).
Just print the template, put the regular SIM on the template and then cut where the lines are. I have done this 4-5 times with only 1 failure (my first...I think I used too much force).
Good afternoon XDA
I come here with a question, I have my hands on a Galaxy Nexus I515 and having micro sim reader like the Motorola RAZR XT912 is already being can unlock.
Now the question is ... you can unlock the micro sim to work on any GSM carrier either GSM or LTE? Or just I put any sim LTE and Can It Work?
Thank you very much to all!

Either 3 problems ; u inserted it in a wrong way, not supported by this mobile or EFS is missing

Inserted correctly as it can only go in one way due to the cut off the simm.
Phone was bought simm free and unlocked to all networks (uk) and my simm works fine in my HTC One X.
What is the last one..???

Did you fully insert the sim card in the slot?
Do you have a microsim that you cut yourself?
