does Jelly Bean resolve/workaround menu issue? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I know the issue a lot of Sprint s2's have where the menu pops up randomly is caused by the hardware, but I'm wondering if the Jelly Bean update fixes or somehow works around the issue?
I've heard people say that it resolves it. I'm just wondering if that's truth. I have an EVO 4G LTE, so I can't test it, I'm just wondering for others.

No. That issue is a hardware issue that happens in low signal areas.

Right. I knew that actually. I also know that there is a hack in the rooted community that keeps it from being such a headache.
I was just wondering if anyone who's phone had that issue noticed any difference after installing the JB update.

Software won't fix it unless you disable the keys. You are talking about my tutorial in the general section.

The benefit is no more Loss of Signal, or at least for me. I haven't had the issue since the update.
Check out the EK02 bug thread to see if anyone are having problems if you're skeptical.

FB17 - Doesn't Vibrate unless in Silent Mode

My phone will not vibrate for a phone call or notification in any mode other than vibrate/silent mode. Anyone else having this issue? also, even with vibration intensity set to maximum, it is extremely low compared to the way it was with Gingerbread. It would really help if you guys tell me what you're experiencing so that I know if its my physical phone, or just the ics builds fault. Thanks.
Yeah same here

it will be fixed in the final build
Is this the only bugs from this rom update or is there anymore. Reason for asking i'm looking for a good rom to install on my E4GT that i just bought. I can dealwith no vibrate never use it anyways.
Am I the only one who can't set contact photos.? Ever since I flashed everything works besides that

Haven't tried. I already had contact photos set up before, and they just carried over without any extra effort. The same should've happened for you.

To the vibrating issue... I use vibrate all of the time and went from fb17 to fb21 to blends fb21 hoping there was a fix for this and the other issues. The vib issue was there with every one of them. I ended up being weak and went back to GB. But I did read in the galaxy 2 threads that some people tried sound manager app and that worked. Didn't know if anyone on an ICS rom wanted to try that out on our e4gt's.

More thanks for mentioning Sound manager, e92dream. That worked and resolved the biggest problem I've had with FB21 so far. Yes, GPS is finnicky and there are a few other issues, but they're all avoidable. That one was the biggest impact.

Well if feeling the vibration is very important to you, I wouldn't go back just yet, because the intensity is extremely weak compared to the way it originally was.

Yeah. I'm on Calkulin's 2.9.1 & definitely missed this ROM. It's very stable for my daily uses. Can't wait til he has a custom ICS rom. Anyways, did sound manager with the volume at all? I didn't mention it but my volume didn't seem as loud either.

No problem. The vibration/sound and SMS/mms issues were killing me but I found a work around for the messaging. I'm not familiar with system and script editing so I had no clue how to tackle the vib/sound issue. Every app I tried said the system vibration was disabled so I gave up.

[Q] New update?

Anyone else get a message that there was a new update for the stock ROM? If so anyone know it fixes and changes? They don't seem to have any info on there website about the update.

It adds sprint connections optimizer and still remains android 2.3.5. The update version is 5.07 and the previous before that was 4.67.

Has sprint or Samsung Announced a fix?

The title sys it. I was curious if they had said anything in regards of a patch or fix for the Ics ota update. I went stock ota for a few days and went to sprint to see what they would say. The tech handed me the phone back and said root it.

not entirely sure what is wrong with the new OTA but I have also have problems with the new update and when I took it to sprint, the tech said the same thing "you should root it". I told them I should but it's not my fault of hardware or software issues and after some talk (I know the guys at the store), they helped me get a replacement. Hopefully the replacement doesn't have any problems too.

The story is coming from Samsung directly. You think sprint is going quick to get jb out to us when we were the last to get ics? I'll be very surprised if they update us at all.
Sent from behind you.
a fix for what? If you don't like the ota run one of the fine, bug free ff18 based roms like blue kuban or goodness. Try cm9 or aokp you don't like those. The only reason you have a "buggy" ics build is because you choose to. That said we didn't see all of these complaints when people were running the ff18 leak, the only thing that has changed is the people running it... furthermore why are you posting on xda asking for a patch? Go to sprint users or sprint forums if that's all you're concerned with and want to complain, they'll listen to you there, I thought this was the place where we solved our own problems... not that I think there's anything wrong with ff18.... now flame away instead of spending the time to search and figure out why you're having the issues you're having when plenty of people are running ff18/ff18 based builds without difficulty or issue

I've ran all ics ROMs my phone just don't get the bandwidth with any of the modems released. I went to ota so I could see if they had an answer for why I got **** download and upload speeds. I can't go in there rocking rujs blu Kuban saying hey my phone won't get a signal anywhere here's my phone and fix it. I miss the roms but I can't get any signal I tried different kernels modems scripts and even garbage off of the app market to improve my signal. Sprint is well aware of it. I posted on xda because people seen to get answers and everything else before people find out. Im not asking a question for devs to fix it im asking the community in the xda q&a section. And it's for our phone correct? So that's why im in the xda forum asking the question.

Quick question about sph-d710bst

Is the sph-d710bst an epic 4g or an epic 4g touch? Sorry if in wrong forum. Couldn't figure it out by googling. All I got was that it was an epic. My wife's friends camera went out so I was coming here to look for help or possibly rooting it and updating it a bit. Thanks. I suggested a factory reset since she has like a bunch of crappy apps. I'll see if that works. Thanks

Yes, the sph-d710bst is the epic 4g touch. And if the camera is not working, I would suggest what you said, a factory reset. Get rid of all those apps that may be causing a conflict. If she doesn't want root(I know, but some people don't!) then just do the reset and update her through Kies with the latest jelly bean OTA. Good luck! I have the same phone, so let me know if you have any issues or questions.

If it's a hardware failure it is fairly simple to replace the camera on the e4gt. Just find tuscani and buy one from him if he still has the parts.

Did the factory reset and camera still doesn't work. It just has a black screen and freezes up where nothing works...
By black screen I mean it's black in the viewfinder. I'm unfamiliar with the device personally but we just came by her house and did all that and it still isn't working. Maybe the update would fix the camera possibly? I know it used to work so I'm unsure. Thanks again guys.

Hmmmm, Mattix may be right. Your camera may be borked. Try the update first, then look around on here for a new camera. They're not that expensive and from what I hear not too terribly difficult to install.
