[Q] Can't get in CWM mode. - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys, i have a huge problem.
I flashed kernel for Mango not for anzu. I mistakened the boot.img file and now my phone is stuck on boot screen.
Tried everything in forums and nothing works for me!
MY phone is rooted (or was, don't know what's now with the phone)
Was bootloader unlocked.
Everything was just fine, but wanted to get another Rom installed and did [Rom][WIP][JB4.2.2][Arc/S/Pro] Unofficial CM10.1 build 20130326, but installed the wrong boot.img
PC doesn't recognize my phone.
Can't get in CWM mode (
* My computer doesn't recognize the phone in fastboot mode (Entering by powering up and after pink led flash volume up)
In overall :
I got stuck black screen while booting, i guess 2nd boot screen
I get no logos, just black screen.
When adding USB and connecting to PC it shows just Green Led (it's fully charged)
Entering the Fastboot mode or CWM recovery mode (By powering up and after pink led flashes pushing volume up - it gives just a black screen and blue led (fastboot mode, i guess)
What could be the problem?
I've searched for answer about 2 days now, but no progress.
I'm desperate guys, HELP!

stock rom is FTF file. Flash them with flashtool. When you return your phone to complete stock and start over you flash a ftf file. And no you cannot turn a zip into a ftf

[Q] Xperia S with broken volume rocker into flashmode

Sorry if this is a stupid question and all but I recently flashed cm10 onto my xperia and crashed and decided to stop booting at the cyanogen screen. Apparently I've found that the volume up button was broken (hardware problem). The weird thing is that I can get into fastboot just by plugging in the usb without any buttons at all with the blue LED but I can't enter flashmode even with volume down and all. Can anyone give me a solution to this please? I just want to get everything back to original and claim my warranty for that volume rocker :crying:
what happens when you flash another kernel via fastboot?
you need the flashtool (and flashmode) to relock the the bootloader. you can install another kernel via fastboot

I do have flashtool and it says i have no drivers installed thou and I've tried reinstalling every driver I can find on the list but it's still the same. I've tried a couple of kernels but I can't enter flash mode too... Or is there a way where I can just flash another ROM without the recovery just by fastboot? Or any other solution at all?
fastboot drivers worked before? somewhere in the dev section is a thread with working drivers for windows.
you can flash whole firmwares over fastboot
cmd:
fastboot flash system firmware
i did this with krabs kasspeed 8 back when i started with custom roms

[Q] Bootloop Arc S (LT18i)

Hey guys so I'm in boot loop. Yes I know there are many guides all over saying how to fix it but I have tried many of them and they didnt work.
What happens is I start the phone, it shows the boot image and then restarts after a time.
I can boot into the Recovery mode by spamming the back button when the Logo comes. And can install zip files from the SD card.
I also have tried flashtool to restore it to stock but when i try flashing it detects my device "Device connected in flash mode" but when i try toflash it, it gives an error "Error flashing. Aborted".
Any help?
Have you backup ?
Did you install a custom kernel ?

No i didnt back up and I bought it second hand. It has DoomKernel
Flash a ics kernel and report back. It might be a wrong kernel/rom combination

Just try flashing a new kernel, depending on the Android ROM you are using.
I'm unable to flasha new kernel. When i connect the phone to the coputer in fastboot mode it doesnt recognize it. I'm trying to flash the ArcKnight one.
When i plug it in to the computer in fastboot mode (blue light), the computer says USB device not recognized
Did you install the drivers for the device properly? Like, the flash-tool-drivers? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034087
Mephistho is right. But if you want to make sure and be safe with it, use sony flashtool to install official fw then you can start your way up from there.

remove batery after 10 seconds place it. now open flashtool and select correct firmware then flash. it shows preparing device. after 1 min it says to "connect phone in flash mode"
now only you have to connect your phone to pc it's important for bootloop devices.
press and hold volume down + connect usb
phone led turns into green

Which ROM are You trying to flash? If it is a Kitkat ROM as You mentioned, then first copy the ROM and gapps to phone for flashing purposes .
Now, on PC, extract the boot.img from rom zip and flash it via fastboot. Then flash the ROM via twrp which would be installed from that boot.img!

First connect Your phone to pc. Then type this command:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Then Your phone will reboot in fastboot mode(The blue led would be lit.)
If the blue led does not lit up, then disconnect Your phone, power it off. The press volume up button and connect the phone the pc. The phone will have the blue led now.
Then type following command to flash the boot.img:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Do note copy the ROM.zip to phone first and then perform above steps.

You must have not flashed the rom after flashing the boot.img. That's why it used to get stuck on boot logo of Sony. The kernel(boot.img) of any Kitkat ROM won't with JB ROM as far as I know.
Don't worry, there is still hope since You can at least get it to boot up halfway.
That flashing the original ftf is weird. Are You sure the ftf file is proper? Try downloading a new one. or if You were able to successfully able to flash the original firmware according to flashtool, try flashing it again using Sony Update Service(SUS). Can't guarantee the SUS will work or not.

Hello.
I'm trying to get this **** working as well, but even though it seems like you gave some crystal clear instructions I still manage to not understand it. I unlocked the bootloader on my S and downloaded. All I really wanted to do was get a good 4.4 ROM running, any chance you could toss an idiot some help?
From what I understand:
1. copy the ROM zip-file over to phone
2. connect phone to pc and fastboot it
3. flash the boot.img from the rom zip-file
4. flash the ROM (how?)
I did a quick google on twrp but don't quite understand what I need it for or if I need it.
EDIT: After a bit of looking, apparently the ROM I'm looking to flash (Paranoid Android) installs twrp when you flash the boot.img. Just in case that changes anything.
Brick?
Hi. So I just tried to flash the boot.img from the latest Paranoid Android, got 0 errors or bad blocks, succesful flash according to cmd. I did fastboot reboot as the guide here says: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526866
LED notification goes pink for a few seconds, I get the Sony logo then just an infinite black screen. Left it on for about 15 minutes with no success. I tried force rebooting/shutting it down with volup+power for 5/10 seconds, but both of them just result in the phone getting instantly turned back on and going pink LED->Sony logo->black screen. This means I can't (from what I can tell anyway) boot into fastboot (vol-up+connect to USB does nothing, vol-down+connect to USB gets me a green LED for a few seconds but then goes over to pink LED, Sony logo and then black screen).
I would really appreciate any kind of help right now, even just advice on how to turn this phone off would be fantastic, because right now that also seems impossible.

No worries! If You were able to perform upto step no.3 properly, then when You boot into twrp(Press volume up button 2-3 times while booting up), there is an option there called as "Install". In that You select the zip file of the ROM and slide the bar to install it!

yes it can be fixed it, you just need to flash boot.img from latest cm12.zip just download it, if you already have it you just need to extract it with winrar and flash that kernel using flashtool in fastboot mode. first connect your phone in fastboot mode to your pc and open flashtool after that open the lightning icon and select fastboot mode, after that choose select kernel to flash and choose that boot.img from cm12. and wait it until finished. after that copy cm12.zip to your external storage and insert again your memory card to your phone and turn it on.
after sony logo is up hit vol up button until led is change from pink to blue and you will enter to cmrecovery. after that install cm12 file from that recovery after that do a wipe data and restart your device.
done
