My 6 months old Galaxy S2X Hercules seems to be having the infamous sticky power button issue.
Phone would sometime shut off and then vibrate every 3,4 seconds..
I took it into a samsung corporate store and they say because I rooted the phone I've voided the warranty and they cannot fix it without charging me 60$+ dollars even though the problem IS HARDWARE related not SOFTWARE.
Is there anything I can do at this point ?
I can barely use my phone because of this problem.
What is an s2x?
Why don't you bring the phone back to complete stock? Worked for me with warranty.

Is there a thread that shows step by step on how to "unroot" the phone?
Have you bothered to look in the dev section? If it were hard to find I would link you, but it's not so I won't

The s2x is the Canadian version of the t989. Basically the same thing. And I don't think he can go back to stock because it keeps rebooting constantly- > he won't be able to flash anything

It's quite possible to go back to stock, you just need to not touch the phone at all to risk the power button sticking again.
I had the exact same problem as OP, and I was able to go back to stock using Odin. Just take out the battery and then hit vol down and plug it in to the usb on the computer.
Then he should be able to go back to stock and then return the phone, they shouldn't charge him if it's under warranty.

OK so here is the story...
I accidentally flashed the 2.3.5 firmware for the Samsung gs2 i9100 thinking it was for the sph-d710... Obviously that didn't work out very well. Now the phone won't boot. I can get it into download mode but odin will no longer recognize it. I have tried the i9100 drivers, and the sph-d710 drivers. No luck, it will boot into recovery mode also, but unfortunately because the firmware is for the i9100 which has an "ok" button and the sph-d710 doesn't I can't get it to do a hard reset. Short of dropping it in a bucket of water and using insurance is there anything I can do?
Yes I know I am a moron...
Well as for the ok button, have you tried using the home button instead? And have you ever used Odin before?

Boots into recovery mode only, but i cant select anything
ET4G
I did the exact thing as you did. The only difference is that I unplugged the USB connection which caused my phone to brick completely. The moment I realized I was using the wrong firmware I disconnected my ET4G. My phone was useless, I couldn’t boot up in Odin or recovery. What I did I took it to the Sprint store and I told them that I did not know what happened to the phone and they replaced my phone for free.
Honestly, I've flashed i9000 before and I'm sorry to say but youre screwed. Send it in to mobile tech videos for jtag repair. mine wouldn't boot or recognize at all for weeks untilI finally gave up.

Yes, I too hard bricked my t999 but funny thing is I've didn't flash any roms. Here's what happened, I was already on Wicked V5 rom, I went to the galaxys3root.com and downloaded MIUI for Tmobile gs3. When I tried to restart my phone to recovery mode the phone just turned off and never turn on again. Someone please help me. I don't really have time to send my phone to Texas, does anyone know any other ways to fix this? Is there service around NJ or Philly area?

Send it for JTAG repair or use a jig. Your phone might not be bricked, but there is something wrong with it.

so it seems that the common issue here is that u both downloaded MIUI from the same wepage... I would think a malicious download... and in all Honesty I had bad experiences the guy's tut.... (with the guy running the site) I dunno I dont want to point finger or nothing but 2 people with same problem?? I suspect treachery afoot... lol
scratch that... I scanned MIUI Zip file and it contained no threats... so I'm guessing a hardware mulfuction?? or simply u got a bad phone.
Try Samsung warranty since you can't get into download mode they shouldn't know it's rooted. I wouldn't say this is a user error since you didn't even flash a rom

Dont you have regular tmobile warranty? the phone wont power on, no water damage, sounds like a clear cut case of getting your phone swapped out for you.
My Galaxy Note 2 just started acting very strange recently.
When I try turning it on, it shows a battery with a circle in the middle then turns off and keeps trying to turn back on showing the battery with the circle. I'm assuming this is low battery but its not because just a few minutes earlier it was working and had 85% battery.
I can use Vol+home and get into twrp recovery without a problem and it shows 85% battery but I don't want to reset my phone right now? Does anyone know of a solution?
Also strangely yesterday I was having trouble trying to get it to charge it took a couple of attempts at inserting the charger for it to work.
I have a SGH-I317M running Cleanrom if that matters...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried to turn it on without battery? Just pull it out then connect the mobile to a charger (or PC). If it will open up, then suspect from your battery. Otherwise, might be something different causing this. (Because battery or electricity malfunctions screwing electronic devices and set them to act bizarre, I saw that before)
I just tried that and no response whatsoever are you sure it can turn on even without the battery and just from an outlet?
I had the same problem with my Galaxy S2. I had 3 batteries and have bought 2 more....all 5 do the same thing. USB OTG stopped working at the same time, though it still connects to a PC. Also my yellow triangle disappeared at the same time when the metal connectors seperated from a USB cable and got stuck in the port. I suspect that it fried something.
I tried different ROMs before I gave up last week and bought a GN2 instead.

I just tried that, I even gave up and did a factory reset. Same result it keeps trying to turn on and then shows empty batter then turns back off and repeats that.
I also left it in the charge until it reached 100% still same problem.
Do you have a second battery? Try it with a 2nd one. If not working than return and claim warranty.

I accidentally flashed a siyah kernel (v 4.0.1) intended for the Internation Galaxy SII (i9100) onto my T-Mobile Galaxy SII (SGH-T989). For some reason i overlooked "FOR i9100" and now that i've flashed it there is no sign of life.
It was rooted with the AOKP Milestone Build 6 ROM flashed and working perfectly until i flashed the kernel
No vibration when holding the Power Button, Power&Vol+&Vol-, connecting a USB Jig, a USB wall charger, nor a regular USB. It isn't recognized in ODIN nor Kies when I try these different combinations of buttons and connections.
I have it connected to the USB wall charger and letting it sit for a while, still just a black screen.
Does anyone have a solution to this predicament?
