[Q] KFHD 8.9 lockscreen help !! - 8.9" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a KFHD 8.9, I have successfully rooted it, and have installed aps like SuperSu Pro.
Recently I tried to install lock screen and magic locker. I was partially successful in that when my fire sleeps and awakes I have the new wallpaper, BUT....my home screen (lockscreen) is still the oldAmazon image. I downloaded KindleFistAide and ran that program on my fire, but still the old Lockscreen. My question is : Can anyone help me get rid of the original Amazon lockscreen?
Got what I wanted from this forum link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1898198&page=2
Thanks to Joedirt2013 for the ideas and the process....It works BUT be careful to read and follow the instructions carefully!
Also thanks to Andrewps21 (page 3 of this forum post) who provided a great set of replacement wallpapers for my KFHD 8.9.
I used these and I really look great....no more Amazon "crap images"...they're gone!

HOW TO Run Stock Launcher/Original Kindle Fire setup on a Jelly Bean ROM

I think its safe to say that I have searched all over the internet and this forum looking for the answer. How do I get to the Kindle Fire Market and factory setup while I am running a Jelly Bean ROM still. Basically I have Root access and the Project Jandycane ROM running perfectly fine and normal, but I want to know how I can install the factory Kindle Launcher to read books, get on the Amazon Video market and so on since I have a prime account and want to watch movies again. I know I need to run OTARootKeeper to use the video market but where is an APK or something similar to get back to all that and re-register as a "Kindle Fire" when I want to access these options?
Thanks for any help you may offer
Cheers

As fas as I know, the only way to do this is to setup Dual Booting.
I have not done it yet, but I think there are some walk throughs for it.

Did you ever find out how to do this? I want to do it too but, after a lot of searching, have not found an answer other than dual booting but no dual booting 'how to' for the kf. I'm sure I saw a post in passing about someone switching between the stock launcher and another launcher but can't find the thread again. It may not have been on jelly bean but I thought it was. Frustrated I can't find it!!!
Thank you (and all) for any help you may offer!

Instructions for dual-booting can be found here:

So far it is the only known way to do it.

Can you tell me why the kindle launcher won't run? Is it a specific problem or have devs not been interested in it? If it's the latter, is it appropriate to ask a dev to consider working on it?
That is I use twa_priv's cm10. Would it be offensive to ask him to modify his ROM to run the stock apps? (Hope these aren't stupid questions. :8)

Several people have tried to port the launcher and silk browser but have been unsuccessful. I read somewhere around here that someone got it sort of working, but it's only a vague memory in my mind. There hasn't been much talk about it since.

My only interest is the digital magazine feature that comes with the kindle fire. Zinio doesn't offer all of the content I like to read

[Q]Stock reader/books on custom rom

Hi there!
My friend gave me a kindle fire.
I wiped everything (Backed up ofcourse first) and installed JB.
Now i got a new phone, so i returned the fire but yhere a problem: my friend like the JB, but hes unable to find/read some books he used to read on stock firmware.
Any solutions here? We tried the kindle app from market, but he says its not even close to original one and books still missing.
Were a few of them prime books? Prime is only for Kindles. and we're a few from oother apps? that happened to me, but you can look on Amazon to see which books you actually bought from Amazon.

KFHD8.9 starirom twrp confusion

Hi guys! I recently swore off tinkering with my Kindle Fire HD 8.9, but just couldn't help myself. I'm not too incompetent...I've rooted the 7 inch Kindle with success and recently unlocked and rooted a Samsung Infuse phone. All that being said, I am bit confused. Here is what I've done:
I rooted the KFHD8.9 using the binary tool. The only problem I ran into was in the window shell portion (when I was supposed to type in /data/local/tmp/onload.sh). I ended up skipping this part. Probably not wise. Anyway, the root was successful and Root Analyzer says it is rooted.
I then successfully installed 8.9Starirom. I have it set up the way I want it now. My goal is to install xbmc apps so I can stream icefilms.
Here is the catch ...
I don't have TWRP installed. I never installed it after rooting. I saw that installing 8.9Starirom would give me an option to install it. It says I would get a red screen if I didn't have it and then I'd have an option to install, thus correcting the red screen. I never got the red screen. I also never get the "blue" Kindle logo when booting. The device loads and I get the option to load with Go Launcher EX, Go Locker, or Kindle.
All is working well. My apps that I had installed all work. New apps I install work. Wifi works.
I'm just not convinced I have everything set up properly. Can someone point me in the right direction as to what I should do at THIS point. Maybe the answer is "nothing", but I want someone more experienced than me to tell me that.
Thanks for any guidance!

For what it's worth ... I just successfully installed XBMC and Icefilms on this Kindle. Both are working.
Any ideas on my twrp / fastboot issue?

Kindle Fire 7 Fifth Generation Black Screen after ADB Sideload

Hi Everyone. I've been lurking on here for a month or so, and I have successfully rooted my fire and installed the google play app and removed ads and blocked updates etc.
This problem occurred after I tried to install Slimrom LP, and ended up wiping everything with flashfire. I tried to do an adb sideload and it said it completed after "patching update unconditionally" and I selected reboot.
Then the screen went black and hasn't turned on since. I probably should have been more careful, but I wanted the slimrom and it looked sleek and minimal, and everything else was easy so I didn't think I would do anything I couldn't fix...now I am kinda scared.
Please Help!

Rooted Fire 8.9.... now what?

Hello everyone. I've got an old Fire 8.9" tablet I'd like to repurpose for one of my kids. My thought process is I can get more entertainment apps and games via the Google Play store vs. what Amazon offers, so I figured either put a ROM on and get more of a stock (albeit older?) Android experience or somehow figure out how to get the Play store on the tablet? The tablet seem to be too old for the Fire Tool Box to work, so the first thing I did was root. Success! .... Now what?
Sorry to ask such a beginner question, but a lot of searches both on this forum and the web in general are returning old results with busted links, and I'd like to make sure I'm doing this process how it should be done TODAY, not just in 2013, etc. My Kindle is currently running Amazon 8.5.1.
Please and thank you!

Hey, now you're rooted you can either flash cyanogen 10/11/12/13/14.1
Ot you can flsh another custom rom
Bear in mind this device is really old now and will be really slow + support for the roms etc is almost non existent
Fire tool box isn't compatible with the Jem (as you know) but you can debloat stock rom using the pm disable - k - - user 0 "com.nameofpackage" commands
I always recommend staying with stock rom and root/debloat device but in this case (Jem) I would say temasek 13.1 build is best with playstore
Regards
If you need any help pm me, I have kindle first aid, all the stuff required to unbrick, update, return to stock rom on my cloud if you need it.
