I'm almost certain you're in the wrong forum. What model phone do you have ? (What does it say on the sticker on the chassis under the battery ?).
Edit- I'm absolutely certain. That recovery you have is an Epic 4G touch rom. Report your OP by clicking the triangle with the ! in the right hand corner & ask mods to move it here

i look at that list of roms and my eyes cross no idea what im even looking for. the other one is asking me if im on a rom version or soemthing then give me links.
but i did notice on the bottom of one of those links is says tutorial and guides for my phone. so i clicked on the how to flash tutorial, 1st think i noticed is the link is not there for the drivers i need. link is broken
Example
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1274337
then on the bottom it says
DO NOT USE PHONE FOR ANYTHING BUT A RADIO/MODEM - YOU WILL DEFINITELY NOT BE ABLE TO USE YOUR PHONE FOR CALLS, AND YOU MAY POSSIBLY BRICK IT - YOU'VE BEEN WARNED
i want to use this phone for phone calls and everything like i was using it before.

Sounds like a dead phone... Try charging it.

Hi, welcome to the Sprint Epic 4G touch section. Lots of nice helpful people here.
First, definitely try recharging your battery. Someone on here though his phone was bricked, only to find out 6 months later that his phone was shutting off on him due to a low battery.
You shouldnt have to flash it over to boost again.. cuz I dont think those things change when you flash different roms or Odin other roms.
So try downloading the one click GB27. plug your phone into you computer, put your phone in odin mode (vol down + power) and flash. it should all work.
http://www.sxtpdevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=166
download the following: SPH-D710_GB27_1014481_Rooted_Nodata.exe.. this will not delete whatever is on your phone; the other versions on that page will, so be careful to choose the right one.
If odin cannot detect your phone when you connect your phone, try installing the drivers:
http://www.mediafire.com/?mau0966wf6q20m2
As i said before, You should NOT have to reflash to boost. That information is stored on a different section of the phone that does not get touched by flashing roms. But if the phone is somehow screwed up, here is the thread on flashing to boost. you shouldnt have to need this.

Current update. I did a wipe/factory reset on it. Now i have it working normally now turning off, applications ect. My phone number and misid is still programed in the phone. I contacted the guy in NY who originally flashed my phone and he said doing that reset i lost everything, and my phone is no longer flashed, anyone have any instructions or direct links on where i can go to get my phone working on my boost mobile network again?

so what did you need that is no longer working?
if your phone and MSID is still programmed into the phone, then what is missing. are you calls working? data working?
I guess factory resetting might have reset your AAA and HA... i think you could have avoided the mess of factory resetting and just flashed a rom on top and been okay.

How does a factory reset cause your phone to stop working after being flashed to another provider?
Factory reset only touches the data and cache partitions. AFAIK, everything you need is in the system partition which is not touched during a reset. Try calling the number to activate with Boost because I think "this guy" from NY is feeding you a crock of ****.

Cuz the guy in NY is full of BS and wants to scam him out of money for nothing. The only way to lose a carrier flash is to wipe out the entire NV and EFS data, not just a reprovisioning but actually blank out the partitions.
Edit: it's not even in the system partition. NV and efs reside in a semi secure partition(s) of their own. Even wiping system won't affect a carrier flash (most updater scripts wipe system when installing a rom)

[Q]Is there a "true" factory restore for T-Mobile Galaxy S II?

We received our Samsung Galaxy II phones a few days ago.
My wife had a Swiftkey and Swiftkey X keyboard apps in her Amazon appstore account. She installed Swiftkey X, and she was presented with an "update" that showed Swiftkey (not the X; apparently this is an issue with Amazon appstore based on Swiftkey site). Thinking that it was an update to the Swiftkey X, she apparently applied it, and immediately there were number of FC notices (she remembers seeing TWLauncher among them) and a spontaneous reboot of the phone. Then, she couldn't get online either through WiFi or 4G. At that point she gave the phone to me to fix it
Comparing her phone side by side with mine it is very clear that there's an issue with network connectivity. While mine flies through the pages, market downloads, etc. either on WiFi or 4G, hers get stock for 3-5 seconds before opening pages or sometimes just displays a "webpage cannot be found" or "connection error".
I went ahead and did a factory restore, but that seems to only delete user account, personal files, etc. if I understand it correctly. Moreover, the issue is still there after the restore. So, is there a way to restore the system files to stock as well? Can it be done without rooting, or does it require loading a fresh ROM?
Sorry for the lengthy message and thanks in advance!

You need to either:

Alright, I'm halfway through. The rooting process for the SII is little different than NC, but the principles are the same.
By the way, is it safe to assume that some conflict between SwiftKey and SwiftKey X caused the problem on her phone? The reason I ask is because I'd like to put SwiftKey X on my SII (it has multi-language support) and I dont want to deal with the same issue if it was the culprit.
I believe I did enough reading at this point
Since this doesn't involve rooting (now I understand it), I'd like to get an "OK" from the guru before proceeding with the following "as newbie as it gets" steps:
1. Install Odin (v1.85)
2. Install Kies for the recent GSII drivers
3. Make sure Windows recognizes the phone in ODIN (seeing <ID:0/004> Added!! in the message box)
4. Turn off the phone
5. Turn on the phone by holding both the Vol-up and Vol-down buttons and plug the USB cable in while still holding both buttons
6. Select volume up button to proceed to download mode
7. Start Odin
8. Check the PDA button in Odin and browse to “T989UVKID_HOME_SGH-T989user_CL594724_REV00.tar.md5” file
9. Click Start in Odin and let it flash
10. Once it completes and reboots…..
Is that it? At Step 10, it should boot into a 100% T-Mo stock, right? Just to be sure, I’ll perform a factory reset after that point and start all over with the user files, apps, etc.
Thanks in advance!
Sounds good. But if you look in the stickied threads top of this forum the drivers for our phone are posted. No need to install kies but that does work also

The "factory reset" you used IS the fail safe. The parts that "factory reset" doesn't remove is the part that won't be messed up unless you are rooted. So I don't even know how you touched /system etc without rooting...

The issue was created after installing a 3rd party keyboard and -by accident- applying an update that was supposed to be for a slightly different version, which resulted in numerous force closes and random reboots immediately. I might be wrong here, but that indicates that more than just the user files were affected, since deleting just user files via factory reset didn't help the network problem. However, flashing the stock image -without rooting- took care of the problem.

My Galaxy S II issue

hey guys,
( I know that there is another thread here asking that same question, but actually the questioner didn't get the perfect answer , that's why I ask this question again, I really need your help )
please I have a problem in my device,
I have Samsung Galaxy S 2 and the problem is when I switch it off after that
the phone will turn itself ON automatically, in another words, I can't switch it off.
please, can anyone tell me the reason or the solution of this problem ?
( knowing that there is no Samsung Center in my country to fix the phone for me)
thank you so much.
Do you have stock, or a custom rom? if stock, are you rooted?

What happens after you do a battery pull? Try that leave it out for a few seconds and see if it turns itself on again, essentially it shouldn't be able to unless your hardware button is stuck/sticky.
Is your phone insured ?
If you are on a custom rom it could be a bad download. Check the MD5 checksums and verify that your download was legitimate. Other than that. If you ARE NOT rooted, I suggest you read MULTIPLE tutorials and root your phone in addition to adding a custom ROM.
May I suggest Juggernaut V5.0. Or if you like ICS I suggest Blackedition or NexusMod
Best of luck

Give this a go... Back up your device beforehand.
Download Samsung Kies. Put you phone into download mode. Open Kies, and under "Tools" menu, select "Emergency firmware recovery". This will completely restore your device to stock. If you still have issues afterward, its a hardware problem.
Edit: You WILL lose root with this method. But you'll also get a definitive answer...
Unroot it and install stock

Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
I would try flashing a new ROM and especially a new kernel. Try to do it over ADB if you cant get it through recovery.

Am I in brick city?

So i tried to update my AOKP with just using my phone. And after the reboot.. nothing happened. So i did a battery pull and now when I turn on my baby the led goes blue and stays there.. frozen. No access to recovery or download.
Black screen and blue led.. so yeah.
What I'm asking is.. there's no way of coming back?

Also.. I semi-bricked before and was able to fix via download mode.. so I know my way around.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
When you updated AOKP you flashed the EL26 CWM kernel as per the instructions in all AOSP roms up until now? Both the recovery in AOKP 37 and the Zip for AOKP 39 (as far as I am aware) are not safe to flash in ICS Recovery.
BLoD is a sign that the bootloader is borked. Normally this is something fixable via JTAG. But it is also caused at Random by the Super Brick bug which can not be fixed. Sounds like you flashed not only an unsafe Zip but in an unsafe recovery and if you tell me you factory reset that would be even worse.
Our phone has a bug in its eMMC firmware which needs to be patched. All of the former ICS leaks have had kernels that can trigger it and last i checked only the Nighlies for CM9 have a safe updater binary used in conjunction with a made safe recovery are generally safe to flash from ICS. Which is exactly why the threads tell you to use the EL26 CWM kernel which if mobile can be flashed via mobile odin. Failure to do so will eventually at random trigger the bug.
Blue LED and not able to get phone into Odin mode = Hard Brick
another one bites the dust......i just don't know how the directions could be any more clear on flashing ICS ROM's. Maybe we need a sticky in every forum in bold letters that says:
"READ ME BEFORE FLASHING!"
I read the warnings and all that jazz. It was just a bad download thanks to the 4G. Mistakes happen. Relax @ above poster.

I agree with Rican Bomba... Not everyone is a Android hacking Guru. We are all trying to learn here. I bricked my phone and i did follow QBking77's instructions (Who i believe to be the best at explaining things thoroughly in his videos) yet, there are so many post that aren't clear. I had force closes like crazy on AOKP and before i found the one poster that said don't wipe in ICS... I had done it and lights out R.I.P. First E4GT. I have flashed way too many times to count without incident. Some posters put more info on how not to brick than others. I followed QBking's method to a tee and something was still wrong... I don't blame him (He makes things crystal clear and is great at what he does), things happened and that was that. I learned something from a poster who was very clear and i won't make the mistake again (not to mention I'm leaving AOKP alone lol). Take it easy on these guys, they will learn soon with a little friendly direction

[Q] Bricked T-mobile S3 can anything be done.

Ok so long story short my S3 is hard bricked. This was my first try at doing my own root and rom install. Im not sure where I messed up at.
1. I got a toolkit from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746682
2. Backed up all system files with the toolkit, and saved pics to my computer.
3. downloaded oden and clockworks restore (cant remember the name)
4. did factory reset
5. cleared cache
6. then installed the S3 rom I got from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663656
I followed all the instructions as best I could and it still messed up. is there anything I can do to reset it back to default??
Nothing comes on. no lights, no screen, no sound. only thing I get is if I take out the battery and plug it up i get a led light for about 12 secs.
That rom was for the SGS3 i9300--the international version of the phone, which has different hardware. There are many threads here in the Sprint SGSIII forums with warnings to not flash roms for the i9300 on our phones because doing so will permanently brick our phones...

after that, i started to download files from network , and during the downloading,it suddenly stopped again. I returned it to the engineer to fix the problem that occurred during loading . he fixed it , but this time when I wanted to use it , I discovered that the " logo" is for another device , namely Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II , not mine 1
I think that my device were charged with " bootloader " Other than that allotted to mine!
Now , the device works with me naturally , but I am having some problems which are as follows :
1 - its not capable to charge when it is off , and it appears to me that it fails every time i try to link it to its charger ! It then goes on to state the case for the recovery mode each time , and then I restart it which goes back to work as usual.
2 - I noticed a difference between the previous state and now in terms of the quality of the work and also problems in charging .
NB:i downloaded a new "Karnel" and and " Bootloader " but that did not work too !
After all what i have wrote to you dear, I want to know ,am i gonna be able to reload the " Flash " without needing "Riff box" ,

What if i kept it on its current status , is there any damage to my device now or later? ?

Hey buddy... I'm going to jump in on this, even though JD is the Man. I just don't want you to brick you're device.
Don't download a rom not made for this device ( epic 4g touch ). That is what has put you in this position to begin with. Go to rwilco12's repo. Its in the epic 4g touch forum and go to Android development. Then pick stock roms. Read...read... read. :good:
If you picked the sph - L710...because you saw JD was running that.... consider this.. not everybody who is in here helping, is still running an epic 4g touch anymore. If I'm not mistaken... JD is running an S3 from boost mobile. That is probably why it says L710..I'm not positive. But I am positive that you need to use the roms for this specific device or you're going to brick. It's a miracle you haven't already.
Ask youre buddy if he flashed a bootloader... because I think he did and if that's the case you need to get the epic 4g touch one back.. should be as easy as using Odin and flashing a one click... I'm not positive... but I think this devices bootloader is all tied up in the one clicks... but look around and make sure. You might have to Odin a bootloader first. I'm just not sure as I've never looked into it, but from what I ( think ) I know. Because of this devices kernel/recovery issue. The bootloader is different than most devices and might be all tied together.
I'm sure JD will pop in later after he gets free and let us both know for sure...
Thanks @Gil81. And OP, you may want to thank him as well, because if you had flashed L710 you world have surely bricked. I have moved on to the Galaxy S3(L710), but as Gil can attest to, I was on this phone for a few days . And as usual, he isn't steering you wrong. Download the Samsung drivers to your pc and Pc Odin, then the stock tar of your choice(sph-d710), located here:
http://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.p...(SPH-D710)/Stock ROMs/JB/GB27/No Data Restore
You can find full restore, no data restore, rooted, unrooted, your call. Read, read, read, before you mess with odin. Then when you're ready, flash the Odin tar, reboot, profit. Good luck, and thanks Gil, good seeing you again bro.

(((dear developer,
I have a
Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch
This device completely stopped working and no longer capable of being opened again at that time ,later i went to the engineer in charge who did a " ........ " which it returned to work as it was .
after that, i started to download files from network , and during the downloading,it suddenly stopped again.
After all what i have wrote to you dear, I want to know ,am i gonna be able to reload the " Flash " without needing "Riff box" ,
Any directly from my computer ?
What if i kept it on its current status , is there any damage to my device now or later? ?
i really need your help ,
Thank you ))))
