Whenever I restore the my Nove Launcher from backup, all the widgets are fine and the paths to all the icons are good, but the icons for the applications always get messed up. Any way to fix this?
I assume you're using custom icons? This seems like an application limitation rather than an issue that can be fixed.

I am not using custom icons. I'm using the default application icons.

I had that issue, but only cause I never updated Nova Launcher from the play store.
I would restore app and restore from backup and had blank icons. This was after flashing a Rom. So I decided to update Nova after a flash and then restore settings. Now I backed up the newest version.

Is there an App that saves me the trouble of re-setting up my homescreens everytime i flash a new rom/kernal? I feel I spend alot of time just re-doing everything.
+1 to this! Would like a simple app or process that does only this.
Titanium Backup does this, no? I just flashed AOKP and used TB to restore all apps and data and it put all my folders and widgets back in place.

From what I understood restoring all "data" can be dangerous because some things don't play nice with other roms. Also, back on my OG Droid, I would restore all apps & data and i would have to start putting everything back together for about 30 minutes before it would remember to place everything back. If i let it sit there it wouldn't restore it though.
It can be restored if you use a aftermarket launcher such as ADW Launcher EX, GO Launcher, LauncherPro, etc. If you use the stock launcher then no.
At most with these aftermarket ones, you'll just need to redo the widgets and that's it.
Mmmm people seem to be in love with nova launcher, maybe ill give it a try thanks!
You can with Titanium Backup. Just backup the home screen app manually before flash. Then restore the home screen app data only.

Just got my Epic 4g touch yesterday. I'm pretty satisfied with this machine.
I flashed FD19 and later FD24. I just wonder if there is a way to backup and restore the home screen icon, widget and folders. Which app or setting should I backup and restore if using Titanium backup ? Thank you very much.
Are you just using the stock Touchwiz Launcher? If you're using a 3rd party launcher most have backup settings in them. A nandroid will back up that as well as everything else if you're wanting to back up and restore after flashing something new. Just use the advanced restore for data after you flash.

I'm using the stock ICS launcher. Can I just restore the Launcher app?
You should be able to back it up in titanium backup.

Sniper, you're everywhere dude.
Just be aware Fook, that in Titanium, you have to manually backup Touchwiz since it is considered a system app.

Hello all,
So I'm new to rooting but successfully rooted my Verizon Gnex and have been trying out a bunch of roms while using Titanium Backup all the while. It's a lifesaver but I was wondering if there was an option I'm not seeing that allows it to restore not only the app and app data but also the icon locations on the home screens. Along the same lines can it restore folders you have grouped the icons into?
Just curious if this possible, would save a lot of time. Thanks.

Most third-party launchers have this option separate of TiBu to backup homecsreen locations. It won't restore widgets though.
Thanks! Much appreciated.

Is there any app to back up my apps and restore to the way I had it on the home screen. For when I update or change a ROM.
Thanks.

You can use Titanium Backup or ROM Toolbox to back up not only the apps you have installed, but also their data as well. It will save your backups to your SD card, so when you update your system memory, your backups will be safe. All that is needed is your device must be rooted to use either.

I think he was asking about restoring not only the apps but also the app icon onto the exact same place in the home screen. If that's your question...I don't think there is something like that, but it would be nice.
use a third party launcher, most of them have backup and restore options

When you have more than one launcher, other than freezing one in titanium backup, how do you make your phone open 1 launcher all the time instead of popping up the choice of more than 1?
It keeps telling me to go into a different file etc... then go to all,...can't figure out what to do then
Please advise
Thanks
Just hit always instead of just once when presented with the choice...

I like to use Home Switcher.

You can set whatever launcher you want. You can also change the launcher whenever you like.

If you want to keep them from appearing, you can use titanium back up to freeze the other launchers. This should also help free up resources.
I've always used TB without any problems or regrets. One of the best apps I have IMO...
