Can someone tell me how to get into this damn thing? I've been reading the unlock/root instructions but when I hot power and volume down it just takes me straight to the OS. Thanks.

Either with a USB jig.. or have the usb cord plugged in the phone and the pc. shut down. then try. should go into bootloader
You seem to be forgetting the home button, it's power + volume down + home.

I think when you are in recovery, its volume up, volume down, volume up that enables power button

I've cycled through the menu up and down and the power burton wouldn't work. I had to hit it about 8 times for it to work.
I'm going to test that now.

I tried that and it worked on the first try. Will have to test it out some more to make sure it wasn't a fluke.

I had the same problem. I came across the solution by accident when I hit the volume up and down buttons in succession several times (up down up down up down). Give that a try!
I hit volume up really fast about 10-15 times and that is what activated the power button for me.

Nope, its no fluke if you start at the top. Thanks to Tiffany84 and qbking for the tip when I asked about scrolling 15 or 20 times

I've got 5.0.2.7 and for me the power button is the back button and home is for making a selection.

That is correct. If u way the power button to be the enter button then when cwm loafs up it volume up, down, and up again and then u should see "back button enabled" and then the power button makes the selection.

I was so exicited only to be let down :'(

It has to do with scrolling through the options completely and going around. So If you go to a screen with less options it will be faster to hit the volume up or down. I believe it is 3 loops that enables/disables it.(maybe 2...)

Uhh... just use the home button to select? Power button is for going back.
Thats what was figured out.

When I try to get into my boot loader manually this what I get. I usually you can scroll up or down to get to recovery. I have to use CWM app to get to my recovery. Any help would be great thanks.

looks like you are going into the download mode instead of the bootloader. for the bootloader, press down in between the volume up/down and the power button. it looks like you are pressing volume down and the power button.
Yeah that's what you get when you hold volume down and power, you need to hold both volume buttons and power on

If that's not working for some freak reason, try this: Settings > ROM Control > Power Menu and select show screenshot. Then, hold the power button and select take screenshot.

Perfect!
I just picked up my phone yesterday and now I don't even have to press the lock button for it to work. I can just rub my finger on it. And its really annoying because it keeps turning off and on in my pocket. Is their a way to make the power menu show up when long pressing the menu button and then turning off the power button completely?

Usually that's something a app would do (or even a setting in your ROM).
Btw, we're missing some info here, what is on your phone atm?
I'm on the 3.6 paranoid android ROM. And really? I thought it would be some kind of hardware.

I'd suggest going in the PA thread and look at their features to see if touch wake is in there. Also, to look through your ROM settings.
What you mean by you just got it?
I just picked my phone up and it started doing it

Ah I see, read that wrong.
Anyway, I don't know much about PA but you should definitely look for those features.

I'm not sure I understand what you want. I though you wanted your screen to not wake from touch? If so, why would you want to turn off your lock button?
Either way, you can remap you hardware buttons but I don't suggest it.
No my lock button is doing the touching. Like I can slide my finger on my lock button and it turns on and off and it turns on my phone in my pocket and turns it off a lot. Its like the button is super sensitive.

Oh wow, I completely miss-understood you.
You button being extra sensitive it definitely hardware related. You might have to open your phone and clean it or have it replaced.
I've opened my phone up and tried paper in between it and cleaned it and all that. I don't even know whats wrong. That's why I just want to turn the button off completely.

Is the button loose? Or further in than it should?
And you can look into button mapping but make sure to backup your files before changing them. Also, you will lose power menu.
The button is the same to me. And yeah I wish I could just change something then turn it off. And no I changed my menu button to where long press is the power menu.
