Hi,
I bought my Note 2 about 2 weeks ago and kept it to OTA Updates, until recently updated via ODIN and CWM to a few different Original Custom FWs (PA3, RootBox, Carbon, ETC)
Thing is, i like charging my phone overnight, and it just freezes right when i plug it into the charger if the phone is turned off, even if it's on the power block that came with the phone box or via any usb port in my computer.
I've read that it's the kernel, but i've tried many kernels (perseus, limaro, neak, etc) and it always freezes. Also tried different base (official stock roms from sammobile, but i confess i haven't tried charging with stock because i always root it, and cwm it and custom rom it right away, i have no plans on coming back to stock)
I know this is no dealbreaker, but i'd like to be able to do it, since i only like to charge the phone once in a day, and it's when i'm sleeping.
Appreciate any help, thanks in advance.
Bump!

I did, CWM Fatory Data/Cache Wipe and didn't work, not sure if it's the same from the rom factory reset option, willing to try (and reinstall everything from scratch) if you or anyone confirms this.
Thanks.

I did, Doesn't work with the original, or with any other, or USB to PC, just freezes, however it works on stock rom, just not any custom rom.
Thanks.
Try a super wipe and flash back stock rom. We need to cross out custom roms.

It charges while off on Stock ROM just fine, Just not on ANY CUSTOM 4.1.2/4.2.2 AOSP/AOKP, went to stock and came back to, say Carbon, or Rootbox with no luck, Still unable to charge while off,
Try not to undervolt it...when you try to undervolt too much there will be freezes when you lock the screen.. i had the same problem..
Thats my advice..
Make full wipe and install a custom rom..at the very first boot..try to access to stweak...grant it root pernission...and overvolt every cpu frequency step by+50mV.
Give it a try...i hope i helped you...ifbyes ..plz hit the thanks button..
If you have further question...feel free to pm me..or start a new thread.

It just started happening to me a few days ago on Jedi Master ROM... was working fine for about a month... if the screen stays off for a while or if it's charging for awhile it locks up... have to pull the battery
Have the same problem on slimbean 4.2.2 rom

Similar problem here, whenever screen is off for more than 8 seconds it will not wake up... Any ideas? I am trying stock roms and others, no solution so far...
Same problem with my GT-N7100.
I've tried both CWM & TWRP. It happens after flashing stock ROM to any of 4.3 AOSP based (CM10.2, ReVolt, Carbon, AOKP). When I'm trying to charge in power-off state, empty battery with white circle on center appears and freezes. Device doesn't charge and the only way to boot something (recovery/bootloader/system) is to reinsert the battery.
Changing build-in kernel to N.E.A.K. didn't help either.
I'm out of options. Please help :crying:
Happened here exactly after downgrading from 4.3 custom back to stock Samsung ROM. Of course lost IMEI but I managed to fix it and after applying ARIZA patch all worked well, however I flashed another stock, bit never and freezing started... Out of options so far as well. I will keep trying.
EDIT: Tried suggested in another thread RECOVERY software, however ODIN fails on sboot.bin every time...
My guess - trouble is in AOSP kernel. For example, if you install any AOSP based ROM and then install N.E.A.K. v2.2x SAMSUNG FW kernel (for TouchWiz) - problem goes away. You can't start ROM after that, but that's not the point.
I think we should post our issue in some kernel development discussion, like N.E.A.K. and hope they find solution.
btw 4.2 and 4.3 ROMs both has that issue.

Just installed Omnirom 4.4.2 on my Note 10.1 (2012) and am having the same issue. As soon as I dock it / charge it when locked, can't unlock and it appears to crash. I did not have this issue with stock.
Any further progress?
Thanks in advance.
Anybody ever found a solution for this? My note 2, N7100 hangs if charged when switched off.
Only when switched off, I shows the battery with the white circle and that's it.
AOSB KK 1.3.6, 4.4.4, krn 3.0.64-CM, latest modem, TWRP etc.

Hey, my previous thread got burried and the problem is kind of different any way, i also did some thinking and i can better explain the issue
I some how managed to try and instal an S3 omega rom on my Note 2
device got stuck in "Samsung galaxy note 2" screen
i turned it on and off, it loaded the stock rom
[*]However there was a problem, the device would hang after the screen would go to sleep
[*]and the pc wouldnt recognise the phone via USB
So i tried to instal the correct note 2 rom, it went smoothly but the screen and usb issue was still there, since then i tried to instal all kinds of stock and not stock roms, the issue is still there, i tried to to a mega wipe, etc, nothing seems to work.
Please help me, im completely lost :<

I tried to install perseus, no dice. :crying:
Don't know what's happening. If you cleaned each partition I.e. cache, dalvik, data, system then it shouldn't be a problem. Trying different kernel doesn't solve it strange...

hello i know i didnt start this thread but instead of oppening another i have the exact problem
somehow i flashed s3 rom and now no usb and if my phone goes o sleep doesnt respond need to reboot it
i have returned it to stock rome and root it again
every time the same thing
well, atleast i know for sure THATS the cause, and that im not the only retard who tried to flash an s3 rom :>
the thing is what can we do to have our phones back to normal
its really annoying having to turn the phone back one ever 10-15 mins
I've been trying to figure this out for the past 2 days, and i dont think theres a solution, what im doing now is trying to reset the flash counter and flash the stock rom, then go to samsung for them to fix it,
Hello,
Yesterday i tried installing the newest PAC Rom the one that uses the 3.4 kernel. At first i thought the download was successful but it wasn't i tried a couple more times but i can't seem to download it correctly. The other roms i could though.
So i installed the 23.0.0 themed version the one without the 3.4 kernel.
And it works perfectly! except from one thing and i hope someone can help me with that. I tried searching but i can't find the same problem.
On that rom when i try to charge my phone it shows the charging animation etc. it actually does physically charge. Though the charge indicator doesn't update despite showing the animation, it does when i restart the phone (that is how i know it works) but otherwise i can't get it to update.
I do hope some one could help me with this problem.
Some screenshots to provide rom details are attached.
Thanks in advance, Exentric90
Ps. I hope my English isn't to bad its not my native tongue

Hey guys I have white galaxy nexus maguro.
The problem I facing is quite strange and I want help.
I have been using my phone from more than 6 months my phone works fine with stock rom i tried installing rom before months back a custom rom and it was CM 10.1 my phone touch starts to respond after sometimes clicks are happening everywhere i changed rom back to stock and problem goes.
So now after many months i came to know about this amazing rom for gnexus CrDroid based on Cm10.2
I just installed it and the problem i faced before is here again.
So conclusion to all this is my screen touch response is extra sensitive or i dont know what happens with it when i install a custom rom on it,
On stock rom its fine,
So what you guys think i should do or anyone else had the problem like that if they solved it please help thanks

You didn't do anything wrong while flashing? Or maybe a mod? Maybe even an app? You could try to flash the ROM and don't install apps and see how that goes for some days. If that doesnt work maybe you could flash stock via fastboot and then flash the ROM.

I think its problem with gnexus many people have different issues with roms but mine is just that its giving me issues on custom roms tried many things flashing again dirty flashed everything.
on stock problem is gone but on the ones i mentioned i am getting this bug that i cant even use my phone i unlock it and touch starts to respond all over the screen
Hey guys since i am testing i just installed slimbean and its working perfectly just like how stock behaves so can someone tell me what slimbean 4.3 and Stock 4.3 have in common and what CM10.2 has not and giving me issues?
Hey guys
I'm having a problem with my P936. I installed CM 10.1.3 and when I put the phone to charge while powered off, it won't stop "charging" if I unplug the charger. The screen stays on with the battery filling up and I need to take off the battery to completely turn it off. This has happened with other CM 10 versions that I used and it won't happen if it is turned on.
Does anyone know this issue and a way to fix it?
I am a newbie since my first flash was this week, but did you flash the rom correctly? Cleaning the caches and the memory?

Yes I did all of that. The problem has happened with all CM roms that I flash into the phone it is not specific with this version 10.1.3.
Did you try a stock rom?
I am using Avatar ROM with Wind Kernel and charging is working without any issues.

Stock rom works fine. It only happens with Cyanogenmod with the stock or Wind Kernel.

Very strange because Avatar is based on CM10.1.

It maybe a fault in my phone but that also seems very strange since stock roms work fine there is no apparent reason for this to happen with custom roms. If the phone is on then it charges correctly.
Maybe it needs to be re-unbricked? Not sure what else can be done at this point.
As the topic says, the battery graph and icon freezes if I plug my phone for charging or for file transfer. This problem occurs only when I use TW based roms but not CM based ones. I tried 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 TW roms. The last time I remember that this was OK is when I was on Dr. Ketan v14 which is 4.4.2 TW and it was a long time ago.
For example, say that battery is at 50%, if I plug the cable in, the percentage and the battery graph in settings screen freezes and does not change. Battery icon does not show the charging animation and battery percentage stays at 50% until I reboot. Also if I reboot while charging, the charging animation appears and percentage rises up as the battery gets charged.
This problem does not occur on CM roms.
What I did do far:
* I was on MJ5 BL and I upgraded to NL1
* I tried flashing stock firmware with Odin
* Tried flashing PIT file
- After flashing pit file and stock rom, I saw that the internal SD card was intact, nothing was deleted, all of the apps I installed before were there. Shouldn't it be all gone, like as if I've just bought it?
No change.
I really need help. I don't want to reboot all the time I connect my phone to my computer or charge it.

Any help will be appreciated.
I still need help here.
Could it be a permission related issue? I don't know maybe there happens something when I plug the phone and prevents kernel to read data from the chip inside the battery.
Bump..
Same problem persists..

Factory wipe wipes only "data" partition. And yes, I did it so many times but didn't help. As I said, even I flashed PIT file.
What confuses me is that this problem occurs only on touchwiz based roms. It's just fine if I use cyanogenmod based roms. And I want to use TW roms.
Have you tried another battery? I just bought a new one myself as I had also freezes.

No I haven't. I don't think it would be the problem but I'll give it a try.
I also replaced the charging adapter but nothing has changed.
