Hello there,
is there a way to port the camera app onto the Nexus 4?
If yes, could anyone spend a few minutes to port it?
Thanks for answer and have a nice day

Pretty sure that the camera is dependant on the framework just doing see this happening
And it would take more than a few minutes to port lol

In addition the One series usually have a dedicated chip for the camera, if ignoring the 'ultrapixel' sensor.

yep this is very true
it would be cool just to have at least the look of it, I dont care about slow motion or whatever feature has ( becouse i think its impossible to port ).

I'm new to xda and I did see one other post with the same idea as me, but I want to post my own thread because I want it to offer more information that I found and because it's going to be my first post.
So I was wondering if there is a possibility that the Droid Incredible could have a front facing camera put in it. I've always wanted one, but I will never part with my Incredible. I'm currently running it rooted, and with Cyanogen Mod 7.
Question time!
Do I need a specific camera or can it be any front facing camera from a phone that has it?
What software would I need for my phone to work with it?
Thank you in advance for helping me out!
I know I've seen some hardware modifications to the Galaxy S models to add the front camera. Not sure if it would work on the Inc, but it's worth looking into it. I'll check around in a bit and try to find them and post back later.

That would actually be really cool and another reason for me not to upgrade.

You're probably right. But when has that ever stopped anyone here?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770854
That's the thread for the GS FFC.
Thanks for everyone who responded so far! And yeah, I've seen the ones for the galaxy... They used a camera that was supposedly the same for in all versions of the phone and I saw that it even had a little space where the camera should be. I took apart my incredible and, depending on the size of the camera, it may fit.... Then of course I could follow the same instructions to make a hole for the camera to see out of.
Oh and I still would have to somehow connect it to the original camera, right? Or is there something more specifically it has to connect to... I also wonder if it's possible to replace the Incredible camera... So many ideas!
That sounds like more work than its worth

HA! That's some funny ****!!!
This would be waaaay cool if it was easy/cheap enough for my skills/wallet.
I saw a thread with some code to make g+ think the rear camera is front facing. That might be more do-able than a hardware mod. I'll look afound for the link.

His saying that he saw a code tricking the Google + app thinking that the rear camera was a front. If that's what your asking
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
if you don't mind the hassle of modifying your inc, maybe you should just sell it and get an incredible 2 instead...
Or quit being cheap and buy a phone with one.
The only problems here would be
#1 where to Søder the new connection
#2 Someone to code the drivers into the rom and make it recognize it (we're not a PnP computer)
As for the trick of making back camera as front is easy. I've used several ROMs that have that set in.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
You should look up "Vainworks"... it is a mirror stand that lets you use the rear camera like a front-facing one. I can't post a link, but you shouldn't have a problem finding it.
Haven't tried it, and it is a bit bulky, but maybe easier than open-phone surgery.
Is there a port of the Sense Camera for the Galaxy Nexus yet???
I really hate the Vanilla Camera of ICS.
Dude if there was a port of the sense 4 camera there would be a port of the rom it self so obviously there is none currently right now next time please search before posting this

I think he was being rude. But, so many people ask this question or similar. Its irritating when a simple search or look at the dead Sense 4 ports in the Dev section would've answered his question, without needing a useless thread. The finger goes both ways guys!

The rezound has a sense 4 rom Your point?
Its completely possible to do, I lack the knowledge but from what I do know you basically have to remove the dependencies from the framework to make the camera app depend upon itself or make a framework app specifically for it and include it with it
Not that anyone wants to, the sense 4 camera isn't much better than ours. Its a little more visually appealing but that's it
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
The HTC V phone doesn't have one does it??? The chip meant specifically for the camera.
And I did search. And ports are either for sluggish in development because the Dec has a life or development is dead.
That is why I'm asking here. Because sometimes there is some one out there who has a working camera.
I have stuff other ppl don't have who are trying port apk that I extracted and got working.
This is why is asked.
Hey guys,
just saw today a short clip with the note 2 in action. And the phablet got rocked the **** out of it
The guy using it just made a swype and a bar on the left side appeared, that contained a lot of shortcuts for some apps like video player etc.
So, there were two apps running at the same time. Just looked awesome, really awesome.
It would be great if some of our devs would be able to port this killer feature to our beloved phone. I think there is almost no limitation expect the 1gb ram -.-, but nevermind it will be okay.
In regards,
alex.

I think we can make our CPU to work at 1.6Ghz and not 1.4 without heating as Note II.

Topic changed to your title I just couldnt point it out as good as you But actually only 2 devices in the world can do the multi window feature Note 2 and Note 10.1 But this is imo a step further to real multitasking. Cause the "multitasking" we have on our phones at the moment isnt even comparable to the one of windows... If I hear MT, then I think that a lot of apps run at the same time, but when I just got out of the FB app with Home-button and then go in again, the **** reloads -.-' thas not really what I imagined...

You should rename title to include "sense 5 port" or something. Helps with searches in case this ever becomes reality for our phones.

Not to be negative but have you seen how many sense ports have been attempted?
You have to write drivers from scratch, which takes a very long time since sense is not open source.
I have seen 1 successful sense port (if you could even call it that) since owning android phones for about 5 years.

Sense is private source. ..
Devs may not take interest in this simply because of the time needed to create source to drive the OS...
By the time a port is achieved...the target device is nearing end of life anyway. ..
Then the cycle repeats itself. ..
Who knows. ..maybe they can nail down the files needed to run it...But likely they will stick to the open source that is treating us so well already. ..g

I've never seen a fully functional sense port and I've owned a lot of android phones.
This has actually peaked my interest and it makes me wish I knew how to do these things.
I could try.
I could ask the dev of the GS3 version questions.
But I probably won't succeed... but hey, it's summer vacation and I have all of the time in the world~
